Thomas Lang's Mind-Blowing Solo at West Coast Drum Shop Bellevue, WA

- Filmed on December, 11th 2022, Thomas Lang performed a monster 30-minute drum solo during his clinic at West Coast Drum Shop as part of our second anniversary celebration weekend. Seattle area drummers left with their jaws on the floor as Thomas displayed his other-worldly chops, double bass drum control, polyrhythms and improvisation over countless complex ostinatos. Here is the solo in it's entirety from start to finish with only one minor edit towards the beginning that cut out a few seconds of headphone cord entanglement. Thomas has a brain in all 4 limbs, all 10 fingers, and the 1 in his head.
30 minutes and all I could watch was that single damn microphone moving around on his tom.
This is what happens when you have to borrow a mic clip
The small kit makes it much more musical and acccessible than some of his other solos. Also interesting, when you watch out for it: how he keeps cymbals and drums apart for long stretches. Like two different moods of a symphony that shouldn't blur or interfere with each other. And when they do, he mixes them very carefully.

Thomas is monstrous phenom. The independence is beyond comprehension. Absolutely Amazing. Bet he can’t pat his his head with one hand and rub his belly with the other 😜

This guy is an awesome drummer and soloist, but I never saw him play with a band ! I would love to. For me, drum is meant to be played with a band.
The band that is his is StorK. It has a few albums, but never really got a chance to tour because one of the band members died. The project hasn’t really gone anywhere since.

I understand your point and agree, if someone played like this in the context of a band/song with other musicians it would not be very interesting musically. But this is not that, this is only a showcase of drumming skill. And absolutely insane skill at that! I find it very inspiring.
