I really don't understand how YT algorithm works because this is exactly the type of videos taht I love to watch, and I had a hard time finding your channel after remembering your B1 Droid video. An excellent review, thank you. I must say, the quality of those prints and the ease of use of this printer have put it high on my list for my first 3D printer. Subscribed
Would you make a safety video for us newbies on how to properly print with resin? I know resin is toxic but I want to see some resin printer setups to properly ventilate the machine! thanks!
Great dive into this new entry. To the shroud/cover, I keep my resin printers in a dark box for temperature control as well as odor reduction (vented to the outdoors), so I remove the covers and store them, so needing to remove a fixed cover would just add a step to my getting setup and printing.
@Dwight.Schrute69 definitely! I stared with a Mars 2 Pro myself. I thought prints could never get more crisp than on that machine, haha! Still use it occasionally to this day but it’s incredible the details that these new machines can produce. Smoothness as well since anti aliasing works even better when there are more pixels.
For beginners it's for anyone that just wants to create not problem solve 3d printer issues. I love tinkering but main goal is creating. This is the best printer for anyone that just wants to make and create.
YES this is something I've never actually heard from any resin printer review. If I had gone into buying one of these as my first printer and heard that sound I would likely have started panicking.
Definitely. I flip flop all of the time with what type of printing I enjoy more. It’s so cool what can be done on an FDM printer with all of the different filament types and colours but the details that can be achieved with an SLA printer are unmatched. Either way it’s pretty crazy than any of this type of stuff can be produced in one’s own home.
@@MMsPropShop Yeah exactly. The fact that you can have a machine that just makes things with a press of a button will never stop being incredibly interesting and fascinating

@@doctoroctos It will be a massive innovation when they do, more and more people will have them in their office/hobby rooms. I've been using water washable resin and I can only smell that when the lid is off the printer, even then it's not bad, smells like dirt to me 😂

Haven't found anything in that size for resin and not sure if FDM would give super clean and detailed surfaces without the need for post processing. Could you share your thoughts? Thanks

I'm fairly new to FDM printing (mostly PLA so far), but am veey interested in resin printing for small details on greeblies and the like. Do you have any fume extraction for your printing room for the resin and/or ABS?
I pretty much always have a true HEPA and activated charcoal filter running. You have to be diligent about the charcoal filters, they have a lifespan of 3 months. Obviously not a scientist myself and there are much more knowledgeable people out there about this kind of stuff, but in terms of the resin, because the exact amounts of various compounds aren’t known it’s hard to determine exactly how toxic it is. Most people are erring on the extreme side of caution, which isn’t a bad thing! A more reasonable approach to it is it’s most effective if you can filter the air/fumes with the printer enclosure itself. Some printers have a filter inside already but there are a few options out there that are rechargeable that can be added into any machine. Wearing proper PPE is also important.
@@MMsPropShop Absolutely! I work maintenance (HVAC, boiler, general mechanic) professionally at a hospital, and I am quite anal about the PPE and safety side of things. @Shadoweclipse1386 I’m not sure if anyone 100% knows how crazy you truly need to get unfortunately. I’m sure it’s very dependant on the specific resins as well. The resin is already moving around in a traditional resin printer, each time the build plate pulls away from the bottom of the vat and the descends again.
Oh definitely! It’s when the resin is moving around too much when it’s curing that it starts to affect the print quality. If you’d told people a couple of years ago that you wanted to make a printer with a moving VAT that would slosh the resin around constantly, they would have thought you were insane lol
It looks like it might just be a production timing thing. The standard Mars 5 isn’t supposed to be out until the end of September whereas the Ultra is getting released by the end of this month.
