@@keithjohnson2863 I believe the issue is LDAC is proprietary to Sony unless the company buys the rights. It does work with AptX Adaptive. I've used it with the Pixel 6, Fold 3 and S21 Ultra and all work great.
Good news Zeos: In the new firmware v1.4, Fiio has added the Ambient Sound Mode (also Game Mode and LHDC Bluetooth codec, by the way). It can activated by triple-clicking the button on the right earhook or just using the FiiO Control APP. And so far it has worked for well for me, though I haven't tested it extensively or at diverse situations and conditions. But a great step, seriously. I always struggled with my IEMs in general, when desperately needed to have some awareness of my surrounding, and now it seems to be solved 😀
I’m not too informed on all this lingo but does that mean I can hear my surroundings and my own voice? I want to get into iems but the facts I can’t hear my voice while gaming annoys me and I end up stumbling a lot on my words and lose focus in the middle of games. It’s why I stick with open back headphones but since I wear glasses, the clamp on headphones makes me readjust every now and then from discomfort and I feel like iems would help a lot with that but again, if I can’t hear my own voice then bummer
@@HeyNavi Agree, that's indeed a universal problem with IEMs when you do not wish to block all the sounds from outside, but this on-demand addition solves it. It more or less feels similar to the Transparency Mode on the AirPods Pro. So yes, you'll be able to hear your own voice. It has 16 levels for the ambient sound, so you can adjust how loudly you would like to have it in the mix.
@@kambizf that’s good to hear, how well does it work from your own experience? I know you said this update was recent but would like to know still. Also does the eliminate that underway/plugging your ear effect that iems give once inserted into your ear? Lastly, would this be great for pc gaming? Is the latency/sound quality/volume worth it to go wireless? Or should I stick with wired
@@HeyNavi I updated the firmware a few hours ago (8 to be precise) and have been testing it at different levels. The testing criteria and conditions are limited indeed, as I've been at work. So far I can say I'm pleased with this new feature both for listening to music and the few calls I have had using it. It may not be super natural-sounding in terms of transparency/ambient mode, but even the best ones in the market still have that issue, so again IMO it passes; in the end, you're listening to your own voice as the surrounding via the built-in mic. I'm not a gamer, so I didn't turn on the Game Mode and can't really comment there, but according to the provided details by Fiio, it can significantly improve the low latency in the Bluetooth transmission process. Regarding your other question (the underway/plugging effect), I think it may vary from one IEM to another and as well from one ear tip to another and the extent at which they offer vent or seal. For me, testing it with Dunu SA6, it feels better when the Ambient Sound mode is on. It might only be a psychological effect, as the IEM and the tip are the same and the ears are plugged as they were before, but the fact that you can hear your surrounding more may trick the brain to it. Given that the unit is not super expensive, it may be a good investment. Since a few months ago that I have the UTWSs in my possession, I have used my IEMs wired a few times only, to test how they may sound with different dac/amps, etc. The built-in amp is quite good for listening to music, so that I do not feel the need to go back to wired.
@@kambizf thanks for the thorough comment. I’m fully convinced and will be getting these to pair with my campfire orions which I’ve only use once because of the reasons I’ve mentioned. The mic quality I don’t think I’d mind too much since I won’t be setting the sensitivity to the max. I need to have it set it where my voice/background noise doesn’t dominate my gaming audio and vice versa. It’s the same with my open back headphones where my volume is pretty high but when I talk, I can’t hear my own voice just enough to not stumble my words. Idk kinda hard to explain. One last question though. Would these be great for sensitive iems? I know my orions are sensitive and had buzzing when plugged into my pc and microphone and have heard that some buzzing can occur with these adapters? Edit: another question but it just occurred to me but can game mode and ambient noise mode both be enabled? Would love to use these two as I’d utilize them both. If so, would the battery drain faster with both enabled?
You know, not too long ago I was looking for some universal dual BT wireless adapters for over-ear headphones with L/R 3.5mm inputs, I am surprised that it doesn't exist. I feel like if they release something like that with LDAC and APT-X HD (etc), good mic, ANC and Hear-through, they will sell out instantly. Zeos has the power to convince them, bring out the Z Sword. I use the Fiio LC-BT2 with the Mangird Tea and they sound great, but I'm not a fan of the neck band. I think the Mangird Teas would be perfect for BT TWS adapters since they are so light.
That’s just not possible. ANC use a DSP specific to the drivers (and housing) they are linked with. You can’t have an external universal ANC device that would actually work.
@@thierryfaquet7405 it's possible but not as effective as headphones or earbuds which are designed for it as whole. There are different types of "ANC" even my Lexus has ANC to reduce cabin noise. In the most basic form, its an external mic that picks up outer frequencies and the processor matches it with the opposing frequency to reduce its audibility. Also would rely on some form of passive noise cancellation.
@@stringbreaker87 yeah you don’t get it. No matter where the ANC is, it’s still only works for where it was designed for… Your Lexus ANC wouldn’t work if it was put into a train wagon, because it was designed specifically for the speakers of your car, for the placement of those speakers in your car and the shape of the inside cabin. And it also has mic inside your car to mesure what needs to be canceled. ANC isn’t magic, it needs to be tuned very precisely or it just doesn’t work (like garbage chinese nobrand ANC)
You just have to involve the user in a calibration process. That way you can finetune the dsp to your own ears, no matter what the output device is. Less plug'n'play, but probably more effective than out of the box solutions, cause everybody's ears hear differently..
Are you using the UTWS5 paired with a Bluetooth 5.2 device (i.e. Pixel 6)?. If I am interpreting the Fiio web site correctly, BT 5.2 facilitates hires playback at 96kHz without the need for LDAC.
Notice cancelation is probably not going to be perfect but... It can be done. Simply inverting what it hears is sufficient for the most basic form of noise cancelation
great video I agree on the transparency mode but I do hope they put ldac support as well as integrating an equalizer like some of their other Bluetooth devices has and also I just purchased my pair and I went directly to Alibaba to their store they're like 80 left
Maybe it's different in the USA but I got mine no problem from the FiiO website - in stock, same price, etc. - in Germany. Edit: Also, they still do the random reconnect when they're supposed to be off about an hour after diconnecting. Love them to death tho, so no hard feelings. ;)
What i just realised you could use those antilon modmic magnets to attach the utws5 to a number of headphones neatly without the need of bluetack or double sided tape etc.
If they designed these for full sized headphones in 3.5mm, I would immediately buy them. and no propitiatory BS like the hifiman deva, but a close as you can get universal type thing.
I have had the Fiio LC BT2 neckband for over a year now with my RHA CL2 planar IEMs and it works great. One of the main reasons I got it was because it supports LDAC. I compared the specs between it and the UTWS5's and aside from having a little less power, the neckband seems to have more pro's to it. Much more battery capacity, better noise numbers, and better format support. Given how loud the Zeus were with the W5's, would a 10mW power dip with the neckband really be a big enough difference to win over the BT2's pro's?
Be carefull with the 2pin version. I've had the utws3 for almost a year and the right side pins broke. Fiio was great getting me a replacement, but it was a kick in the balls when it broke.
Mine is MMCX version, It takes 10 months and it is broken. I sent it for repairing (from Thailand to China) for 1 year warranty. Today is going to be 3 months, and I have not got it yet. …I am still waiting Fiio to return it back.
Moreover, utws3 damaged the mmcx of my earphone as well. So, I had to pay for the repairing including the shipping(both ways). All in all, this kind of product may ruin your beloved earphones someday in the future.
I actually have that happen all the time with basically any full wireless earbuds. Where they'll just randomly connect. What happens is, if the charging case runs out of battery BEFORE the buds are fully charged, it obviously stops charging them, but the buds can't tell the difference between that and you pulling them out of the case, so they think you want to use them and then pair up. The fix is to just always always make sure the charging case is full of battery.
Prefer the KZ AZ09 Pro. Better fitment. BT5.2, AptxHD/AAC/SBC, Low latency mode, TWS+. CVC, IPX4...48 hours of battery life (8 for the earhooks). Price was $37 for my first set and a discounted $26 for my backup set. Couldn't pass up that second set as a spare! Use them with my T3+'s; required a set of adapters (QDC female to 2-pin male) for another $13 on AliEx. Else, great to pair with the Zex Pro's. Fantastic devices that have performed to my complete satisfaction. If they only had a 10 band parametric EQ...imagine the possibilities.
They could do transparency mode, shure did it with their tws2. I loved that but it stopped charging the left unit with less than a month of use. Edit: I'm aware the shores come with the 215, but transparency worked with tin t2, and whatever other iem I tried.
I don't believe the CODECs itself have any restrictions on the device hopping that Bluettoth does. I believe it's a combination of the Sony "tax" being to expensive, since the hardware usually have to pay a fee for using the licensed codec; and having difficulty finding a small enough bluetooth chip with LDAC. Qualcomm makes a lot of this small ones since they do for everything, and they can put a better price for their own CODECs, instead of other companies that have to develop the radio and pay sony so they can include LDAC.
Agree with you on poor control abilities, if they only added swing button on the back side of those, like lg tone hbs uses, it would be da bomb right away.
Fucking Brilliant, I also want this, I want this so much. I want to be able to make any of my headphones, within reason, wireless... As well as affordable ways to get excellent sound and ideas like this one that are just next level. Why has no one already done this or something like it?
If FiiO makes a headphone equivalent UTWS5 they need to add 2.4ghz RF (like on gaming headsets) alongside Bluetooth with a switch to toggle between them and something similar to Antlion's magnet mounting system.

Is there any news about UTWS7? I have UTWS 3, so I'm not sure if UTWS 7 release is nearby. Generly they release next version in 15-18 months. In that case, we may still have 8 months approx for UTWS 7 to come out, and I'd want to upgrade to UTWS 5 now only...
Has battery technology not come far enough? Can we get something that lasts 8-9 hours for the working man? We don't want the weight or the wait. Be in stock lightweight and long lasting.

I just thought of the perfect way they can make a headphone adapter that could work for like all headphones It's incredibly simple What do all headphones have... The band that goes on top of your head They could literally make a slightly bendable bar that sits on top that straps to the headphones The bar would have like a port on each side so they could take any wired down on each side And since it's not separated it could have ldac and everything
@@Moose_338 I do this except I'm using a bunch of small hair ties to hold the unit and cables neatly in place. the multimedia controls are a tiny bit uncomfortable to reach but you get used to it.
These are fantastic, if you only want to use them with one device at a time. You can have them paired with two devices but you can't quickly switch between them, you have to disconnect one so they'll connect to the other. Since there is no multipoint like there is with BTR5, you can't answer a call if you're listening to music from your DAP. This kills these for me and I'm hoping it's something they can fix with a firmware update.
Agree. They need to cover the basic functionality of a True Wireless. Otherwise, they can't replace a TW they would be "in addition to" which makes the market much smaller.
So out of stock and NOW... Well now these amazing adaptors are going to be non existent. Ebay 200. Amazing review. The power output impresses. Absolutely have a use case but chance of getting a pair; with out paying a scalper mark up. = None In my watch list for sure. Great review!
I have a similar product from KZ the AZ09 Pro. With a much sleeker design but probably worse quality internals and maybe less universal of a connection, like not all 2 pins fit for example.

All they really need are some decent quality mics so I can chill on the couch and be on a call and I would totally pick a set up. As of now though, the no mic thing really makes me not want them.
The Shure TW2 with the 846s is amazing - and the TW2 has a very good transparency mode, along with a 4-band parametric equalizer. The TW2 controls work well. They can be used with any MMCX-connected IEMs. Just tell the Shure app you're using 215s, so that they'll yield maximum volume.

Hmm would you think it be better to get these then to pair with my moondrop starfields or get some Moondrop Sparks judt to listen to music out and about? As do like the idea of a pair just for outside but at same time these do look awesome.
Just a head up, the 2 pin version of the utws3 and the utws5 does not work with Moondrop IEMs that have the recessed port. The utws unit's don't have the extra squared length to fit into the slot so if you wanna try this you need the mmcx version and mmcx to 2 pin adapters. Source, I have the Starfields and the utws3 and utws5 lol.
AZ09 Pro's for $37 ($26 on discount) plus a set of QDC to 2 pin adapters for another $13. Voila...AptxHD/AAC/SBC, BT5.2, Low Latency mode, TWS+, CVC, 8 hrs on the hooks w/48hrs on case.
I love my UTWS3. Very rarely do I have a connection issue, and the power is sufficient for my IEM collection. Personally I don’t see the need to upgrade to the 5 as it doesn’t seem to bring anything major new to the table.
@ no. FiiO has released multiple updates. It is also more powerful. But the TRN has different plug options. It’s also lighter and smaller. I end up using the TRN more actually. But in this use case, the FiiO will definitely outperform the TRN
I agree, these are way better than the Sony aside from the ambient and noise cancellation bullshit. But at least I can hear music from these. The Sony buds have too low volume.
Hey Zeos have you used this on your modded kph30i? I was thinking if I grab the mmcx version I could use them to turn my koss kph30is into a wireless setup, have you tried this?
No matter where the ANC is, it’s still only works for where it was designed for…
Your Lexus ANC wouldn’t work if it was put into a train wagon, because it was designed specifically for the speakers of your car, for the placement of those speakers in your car and the shape of the inside cabin. And it also has mic inside your car to mesure what needs to be canceled.
ANC isn’t magic, it needs to be tuned very precisely or it just doesn’t work (like garbage chinese nobrand ANC)
@@thierryfaquet7405 I get it, I'm not going to pretend I'm an expert though lol
You just have to involve the user in a calibration process. That way you can finetune the dsp to your own ears, no matter what the output device is. Less plug'n'play, but probably more effective than out of the box solutions, cause everybody's ears hear differently..
Gottem, Lovem, gettem...7hz timeless sound amazing with them! Zeos your making me broke with these awesome reviews and finds man!!! Worth it!!!!
Are you using the UTWS5 paired with a Bluetooth 5.2 device (i.e. Pixel 6)?. If I am interpreting the Fiio web site correctly, BT 5.2 facilitates hires playback at 96kHz without the need for LDAC.
Damn you listen to your music loud! I use UTW3's for my Tin P2s and they're fine.
Thanks for making this video, I just got the 3s for $45, with right angle adapters for $10 to run my $20 salnotes zeros 😂 I'm pumped 🕺
Maybe it's different in the USA but I got mine no problem from the FiiO website - in stock, same price, etc. - in Germany.
Edit: Also, they still do the random reconnect when they're supposed to be off about an hour after diconnecting. Love them to death tho, so no hard feelings. ;)
over here people aren't obsessed with true wireless the way they are in burgerland
Should I buy AirPods Pro 2 or this to use with my $50 iems and also upgrade iems later on.
What i just realised you could use those antilon modmic magnets to attach the utws5 to a number of headphones neatly without the need of bluetack or double sided tape etc.
These are awesome. Driving the Zeus blew my mind. These are crazy for the power output.
If they designed these for full sized headphones in 3.5mm, I would immediately buy them. and no propitiatory BS like the hifiman deva, but a close as you can get universal type thing.
The lack of ldac could just simply be the lack of licensing for fiio to use that codec, or not wanting to pay whatever fees required to use it.
Update gave them LDAC and LHDC, transparency as well, amazing update pipeline from fiio
Given how loud the Zeus were with the W5's, would a 10mW power dip with the neckband really be a big enough difference to win over the BT2's pro's?
just got the 2 pin version from their aliexpress store
@@Nok-wj7fl lets hope they rectified the QC for the newer version. akm chip is the reason behind the lackluster stock at distributors.
After your TWS vid I really want to see Sony give a shot at a product like this
Prefer the KZ AZ09 Pro.
These with Fiio IEM specific anc profiles would be amazing.
Anker's Soundcore have LDAC; it's possible to have separate units and still implement it!
They could do transparency mode, shure did it with their tws2. I loved that but it stopped charging the left unit with less than a month of use.
Edit: I'm aware the shores come with the 215, but transparency worked with tin t2, and whatever other iem I tried.
WOW!!! I just paired these with the Zenns Mangird Tea II!! WHAT A FRIGGIN’ MAGICAL PAIRING!!!!
With the latest update the Fiio UTWS5 have LDAC support. Still a bit buggy, but i'm sure they will iron out the "kinks" .
Using the UTWS1 now with my TIN Audio T2 with ADV Custom tips. Outside of a painful sync processes I love them esp when using loud machines
Brilliant! I just got all the parts to make all of my headphones wireless and it works great! The only thing I didn’t do was BlueTack.
Agree with you on poor control abilities, if they only added swing button on the back side of those, like lg tone hbs uses, it would be da bomb right away.
Fucking Brilliant, I also want this, I want this so much.
I want to be able to make any of my headphones, within reason, wireless...
What an amazing out of the box idea that some company needs to capitalize on and do it NOW...
Thanks Zeos and things like this is why I've been watching your channel since it was first created. Descriptions of sound and things that every day people can understand and get a feeling of what they're thinking of buying.
KZ Zax 16-Units 7BA+1DD Hybrid in Ear Monitors Earphones 2 Pin Should I get the $80 or the $150 version what would you think be best have a blessed day
Is there any news about UTWS7? I have UTWS 3, so I'm not sure if UTWS 7 release is nearby. Generly they release next version in 15-18 months. In that case, we may still have 8 months approx for UTWS 7 to come out, and I'd want to upgrade to UTWS 5 now only...
foobar without the song's album art makes me cry all the time
Has battery technology not come far enough? Can we get something that lasts 8-9 hours for the working man? We don't want the weight or the wait. Be in stock lightweight and long lasting.
I impulse bought the Sony XM4's the day before you're review vid came out. They're great. They claim to be able to do LDAC.
So glad i got my hands on them about one month ago, have been using them with fiio fh5 (another purchase made cause of Z). Sill happened a few times to randomly connect to my phone while charging. But overall very happy with them
Are you using the UTWS5 paired with a Bluetooth 5.2 device (i.e. Pixel 6)?. If I am interpreting the Fiio web site correctly, BT 5.2 facilitates hires playback at 96kHz without the need for LDAC.
Like you, I have the Utws3 2 pin and mmcx and like you I have the utws5 and like you I bought the OE Audio and am using them on the utws5.... Nice. I am completely impressed with the 5 man.... They are a hair better than the 3 in SQ but much better in every other regard. Also 40% more output power. Nice video man

Btw just wanted to let you know that they supposedly support ldac now(via firmware update)
Those on 2x 3.5mm headphones look both hilarious and like an unironically good idea
I just thought of the perfect way they can make a headphone adapter that could work for like all headphones
It's incredibly simple
What do all headphones have...
The band that goes on top of your head
They could literally make a slightly bendable bar that sits on top that straps to the headphones
The bar would have like a port on each side so they could take any wired down on each side
And since it's not separated it could have ldac and everything
Just double sided tape a btr5 to any headphone
@@Moose_338 I do this except I'm using a bunch of small hair ties to hold the unit and cables neatly in place. the multimedia controls are a tiny bit uncomfortable to reach but you get used to it.
@@Moose_338 Why use tape? It has a clip......
At the 16.30 mark you have 3.5 mm adapters. Do you have the link to where they can be bought. Thanks
Thank you for your opinions, I have the 3 and saw the release of the 5’s and wanted to know if worth the upgrade. Thank you
Out of stock. Out of stock Out of stock Yup that was literally my experience yesterday trying to order these
wtf is that setup.... I love it.
I have the utws3 and bought some senheisener to 2 pin adapter and made my hd58x Bluetooth
I’ll wait on Amazon. I need these so much.
What do you need a DAP for if you have these?
me with utws1 on takstar hf580 : "wait, no one doing this?"
just caught it in stock in amazon and bought it with 10 left.
I have the trn bts20 pro's, and I love the idea of these
the trn bt30 seem to be an improvement too. would like to see what people think.
Wondering if the BQEYZ KC2 fits on this? Would like to use it and pair on an iphone 11
So out of stock and NOW... Well now these amazing adaptors are going to be non existent. Ebay 200.
Amazing review. The power output impresses. Absolutely have a use case but chance of getting a pair; with out paying a scalper mark up. = None
In my watch list for sure. Great review!
I love it. Definitely trying these with my Elex.
Imagine if sennheiser would make this kind of adapter for their hd6 series.
Wireless hd600 any day of the week
I got two pairs of the KZ to pen which one would be best for me please thank you
The Edition XS also have 3.5 mm sockets, like the Sundaras.
worth upgrading from the utws2???
1000xm4's have LDAC and are tws. I use it all the time.
I like the concept of these IEM Bluetooth things.
But I prefer a smol Bluetooth audio receiver.
I have a similar product from KZ the AZ09 Pro. With a much sleeker design but probably worse quality internals and maybe less universal of a connection, like not all 2 pins fit for example.
Wonder if these could drive some overhead full sized cans, because I'd be interested in having true wireless LCDs
I have this from the beginning! greath stuff amazing sound for my Campfire vega's 2020
What would be more worth the price, some Moondrop Aria with the FiiO UTWS5 or just some Moondrop Sparks?
This or the Qudelix-5k ?
Aye my mans fun fact: 'drip' started with watches, doesn't necessarily apply to just clothes, accessories (and ur drippy earbuds) count too
I was lucky enough to get my hands on those. They are quite convenient and sounded great. I noticed the sound is a bit wider with them.

@@keithjohnson2863 I am currently using them with my 4 yr old android phone so I am assuming that isnt 5.2.
@@xl_cr Thanks for responding. Glad to know you are enjoying them with your phone.
When could the UTWS7 come out?
All they really need are some decent quality mics so I can chill on the couch and be on a call and I would totally pick a set up. As of now though, the no mic thing really makes me not want them.
The Shure TW2 with the 846s is amazing - and the TW2 has a very good transparency mode, along with a 4-band parametric equalizer. The TW2 controls work well.
They can be used with any MMCX-connected IEMs. Just tell the Shure app you're using 215s, so that they'll yield maximum volume.
could you make headphones with one 3.5mm jack wireless by using only one of the adapters? or would you only get the one channel?
I know this is an old video, but im figuring out whether to get these, and use my Hidizs Mermaid MS4,and with adaptors my HiFiMan HE-400i 2020.
OR just get a new bluetooth set, either AKG K361 BT,or Sennheiser Accentum Plus. Any thoughts?

Can I get a link for that mouse mat 👀
Sir Zeos is it possible a link to use it for Audeze LCD 2 closed back? Very much obliged stay blessed 🫡
the mmcx adapters kept falling out of my moondrop variations. I couldn't find any replacement companies for it
i have the uts3's time to see if i should upgrade
and if i do ima pair it with a more neutral iem
You sold me! Bought some to go with my SE846's
mpow alternatives or should you still go for mpow.
I’m going to hook these up to my Arias for work. I love them and making it portable is gonna be sweet.
I bought the these along with the angled adapters. Is there a link for the 3.5mm adapters?
Velcro and a goBlu works pretty well too
TRN BT30 has replaceable, removable tail/adapter so you can use 2-pin or mmcx. Rumour is they are the OEM of the UTWS5
Are they bether than fiio?
@ no. FiiO has released multiple updates. It is also more powerful. But the TRN has different plug options. It’s also lighter and smaller. I end up using the TRN more actually. But in this use case, the FiiO will definitely outperform the TRN
Is it worth it to pay double the price for the 5s instead of the 3s?
I got the Shanling MW200 neck back to connect my IEM's...... I am afraid it just doesnt sound that great, I am going to try a BTR5 or UP4
The hiby wh2 has ldac and those are in ears

Quote of the century!😂
I agree, these are way better than the Sony aside from the ambient and noise cancellation bullshit. But at least I can hear music from these. The Sony buds have too low volume.
I now have a need for something like this, but 4.4 pole so I could run my Argons off them.
I have these. Soooo Good. So loud too. DAC's ? Damn.
Hey Zeos have you used this on your modded kph30i? I was thinking if I grab the mmcx version I could use them to turn my koss kph30is into a wireless setup, have you tried this? Or anyone else reading this, have you tried it? Does it power well?
EDIT. Those adapters you linked are NOT the right angled version, but I will keep an eye out for them
These would work great if you converted them to mmcx. I did this with my KSC75s and UTWS1. The UTWS5 is wayyyyy better.
The Right Angles are only on their site. Not amazon.
If I hadn't paid for upgraded cables on my IEMS and HiFiman 400se I would purchase.
