My favorite VaPer is C&D Bayou Morning flake, It has become a daily smoker for me and I love that it's always available. I prefer it over escudo, Peterson Elizabethan, and orlik Golden sliced. Never had the dunhill though.
Gosh JC I can’t believe you don’t love every darn blend you try. The nerve! 🙄😜🤪🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Glad you enjoyed this one. I didn’t care for it as much as Escudo. That’s what makes this so fun! Good review man!
I think I finished off my Dunhill a year ago or so. Have a Peterson tin in my cellar, I probably should get more. Was able to get a few tins of Escudo earlier this year on P&C. They've been having some good deals. I have a little left from 2010, so hoping I can hold off on popping a new tin for at least a couple years.
Quite right you are😊👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏…honest opinion…is valued by me….we can’t like every tobacco…and its a personal thing what each of us..likes. I’m like to hear all experiences..good…or…bad and always learn something anyway. Keep going my’ol mate…I love your channel and appreciate very much your content too😊😉👍👍
Have seen and heard a fair amount of people make the comparison between the two. Working on my fist tin currently and enjoying it. Have one more in the small cellar if you will. Definitely gunna be picking up a couple more and some of the Escudo to try.
Tasty blend for sure. It’s very similar to escudo IMO, just sweeter and less peppery. I haven’t tried either with that much age though. Sorry about the trolls.
Hey jc, hope you didn’t take my comment yesterday on brown sugar flake to be provoking or trollish. When I first started the pipe tobacco journey I too had trouble with the gawith blends. It took some time and help from others to understand how to prepare the tobacco, which is quite different than almost all other tobaccos. If you check out tobacco reviews take a look at jiminks reviews. He’s considered about the best when it comes to expert unbiased reviews. If you aren’t getting the flavors he is describing it could be your preparation/technique. You may not like the flavors presented but they are there. If it’s just hot air you’re getting hot air, give it a shot, also I recommend checking out some of the pipe smoking forums on how to prepare and smoke Samuel gawith blends to get the most out of them. Hope that’s helpful
I just recently tried this blend for the first time. Definitely agree with the comparison to Escudo. Both are wonderful blends but even with my fresh tin, I prefer Deluxe
Being honest is easier then not, harder to remember what lie you told unlike the truth. The truth sits on your tongue a lie floats in your head. I’m the same way if I like I’ll tell ya if I don’t like I’ll tell ya.
Hey Pete I’ve been meaning to ask you.. As you know I’m drawn to U.S. made knives.. What would you recommend for a good U.S. slip joint? Would you stick with Case or are there other better options?
Hey, brother! Pete Navy Rolls, fresh or aged, is one of my favorite, aged Escudo being my most favorite. I agree, they do not taste the same. To me, Pete Navy Rolls, fresh or aged, are sweeter and very fruity. Aged Escudo is much darker with a very rich hay-like flavor that translates well in the smoke. Fresh Escudo is very subpar. In my opinion, Escudo is a very sensitive tobacco that needs some time to develop. The end result is worth the wait. God bless, brother! 🙏
Never had the Dunhill, but I love the Peterson’s version. Excellent tobacco. To me it’s absolutely identical to Escudo, I’ve smoked them side by side… I’m absolutely certain that any differences people come up with are absolutely imaginary!😂 If I were to hand two bowls (one of each) to anybody they would not be able to tell them apart! Great stuff anyway!
The exact same facility with the same sources and the same recipe is making the Peterson version. It’s the same exact tobacco just different labeling. I find dnr superior to escudo, or perhaps I should say escudo of the last 10/15 years.

I have a tin with about 4 years on it and waiting 5 to open.. Fresh it’s a bit raw for me. Good this is for you they sell it in bulk 👍
Good blends. Enjoy your weekend!
You too David!

Escudo ages so well… This one is better than escudo fresh IMO like you said 👍

It’s a good thing you like them then lol

I’ve never smoked it aged though, I bet it’s gonna be even better! I have some tins from 2019, but I’ll give them few more years…
I have heard you mention Burley Morning, Who makes that?
I like Peterson De Luxe Navy Rolls, they definitely get better after being jarred for awhile.
Ken Byron Ventures makes burley morning pipe.. This one definitely ages well 😊

Glad to hear it!! Thanks for the info 👍
Holly shit I never seen tobacco like that 😮
