I can't tell the difference but unlike some I don't have a refined sophisticated palette maybe I could tell the water was from Scotland thanks for sharing stay safe
I haven't tried either of those....but according to the tins...one will kill you and the other won't! I don't even like corona beer. Have a great week Gary!
Yeah brother , those "smoking kills" signs are rather disturbing. Over here in the states it just has, Smoking causes health risk. I like to buy my tobacco in 12 and 14oz tubs. I used to display my tobacco tubs with my pipe racks. Not now LOL.
Agree with you-too close to chose a favorite. They are both better with age, but alas, I’ve smoked the aged tins and only have a few from 2020. If 2020 tobacco is as bad as other things in 2020...
😅 Hope not! Tobacco should be fine... This actually was the second tobacco I’ve decided to cellar (after FVF). Got 3 tins DeLuxeNR from 2019 and one from 2018, but I’ll wait another couple of years before cracking them. ✌️
Peterson deluxe navy rolls is my favourite hands down based on the fact I've got that in a jar in my house and I've never even seen a tin of escudo great comparison video I'm no longer curious 😂👌👍
Great review. I enjoy both. For me Escudo is a little spicier, and the Peterson slightly sweeter. Is one better than the other? Depends if you prefer slight spice or slight sweetness...... but one better than the other? Can't say that.
Agree 13! We did a similar experiment on one of the first Briar Blues Mystery Challenges and it was extremely hard to tell the difference when ur tasting blind. Both very similar though I do think they have diff spice levels and sweetness depending on age. Either way two great tobaccos that both age well and have a place in my cellar. Thanks for sharing. Take care.
I've only ever had Escudo loose in the UK and found a definite difference in flavour from the Peterson 🤔 But also in the moisture content with Escudo having more. I think I need to get a tin of Escudo to compare with my stash of loose 🤔 love them both tbh 😋 P.s. if you want Escudo in the UK the only stockist is A.E. Lloyd in Aberystwyth 🙂
On top of that I kinda suspect that before cutting it into coins, that tobaccos has been packaged and sold as the former Peter Heinrich Curley Block… now Wessex Curley Block😂 - STG inventions…
Beautiful pipe! i love the peterson design i would love to buy the army bent shape but its a little pricy for me. as for the tobacco i say if you like it you like it... and that is what matters.😎 be well ✌🏽
Esc-“Oud”-O intro ? Where did you pick up the Oud ? Great sound…fully bodied and deep undertone with the occasional high & bright coming through. Much like your choice of tobacco (:
I have only had one 50g tin of Escudo several years ago after smoking Dunhill's De Luxe Navy Rolls for many a year, at the time my tin of Escudo was noticeably different, less sweet and a bit harsher than the Dunhill. That being said they are now made in the same factory so they may have "simplified things" and it may be the exact same blend? As I started with Dunhill (now Peterson) and enjoy that blend I have no desire to get Escudo from the US, when I can order Peterson and get it the next day in the UK. If they have decided to simplify things I would say they will have likely chose to run with the old Dunhill blend, as I have said, it was sweeter and more refined than the Escudo. I have also heard other Dunhill DeLNR smokers opine the same. Escudo was always a copy of the Dunhill anyhow by STG. ✌️
Blends stared as individual blends from two different producers. Cope of Liverpool Escudo and De luxe Navy Rols from Dunhill. Now they are both produced by Orlik (part of Scandinavian Tobacco Group) so the diferences in the process are small if any. I've smoked both and tasted Dunhill (now sold under the Peterson brand) being a bit more fresh/young. This made me thinking that component tobaccos are a bit different (e.g. Virginias). It depends how old is De luxe Navy Roll when smoked. With a bit of age on it could be more or less the same as just produced Escudo. At least this is what is my conclusion. Have you tried Peterson (ex Dunhill) Dark Flake? Have a pleasant Sunday, Janez
They might have differences, but as far as I’m concerned undetectable... some people may tell the difference, but not me.😅 I’m sure both will age well! Excellent tobaccos! Haven’t tried the Dark Flake, perhaps some day... From all the Peterson/Dunhill blends I’ve smoked only the DeLuxeNR and Nightcap I really love and consider my regular. The rest of those I’ve tried... I think they are decent tobaccos, but nothing exceptional. I don’t seem to crave them or even think about smoking them again. Except Early Morning Pipe, which I hate! 😂
Now that is not true that you cant get Escudon in Uk .Im living in London UK and i can get it so can you but with a caveat ,ONLY ONE TIN PER POSTAGE SO YOU WONT PAY THE CUSTOM FEE cause the value doesnt surpass 35 pounds
😅well, yes! I’ve also managed to obtain other (not sold in UK) tins from US and Germany, but that’s not the point… the point is - it’s not available in any of the UK tobacconists.
Love the intro music, fine choice indeed. I know i may get crusified for this but To be honest i think its the same blend and i cannot tell the difference if my life depend on it! Both are very good for sure. Kindest regards Al janabi
@@13pipes I tried Davidoff first and then Peterson disapointed me for first time. Because I was expecting something very close. It wasn't. Who knows, I have one tin of Peterson left for aging. I wish it was the point😏 BTW, I love most of Dunhill, now Peterson blends.
@@wholeone4756 I’ve got few tins of the Peterson’s navy rolls from 2019, they should age well. I like some of their other blends, but some were disappointment.
😂 Actually, since yesterday I found Escudo here on two websites... one sells only bulk £16.72 for 50gr, the other sells tins of 50gr for £17.92. 😂 Peterson is a bit cheaper - £15.50. Both are great anyway!!!👍✌️
15.50 is like $20 and change US 11.36 an ounce!...ouch! I pay 14.28 us for Escudo so 11 pounds there. It seems a little pricey to me...wish they sold in in bulk or 250 gram bags or something. The Canadian and Australian guys have to trade a kidney for a few tins comparatively speaking on price-lol
Hi 13 Pipes, You are right, there is no difference in taste. The only difference is the price. Love your videos.
People are so easy manipulated by marketing and advertising😂, anyhow good smokes both of them! Thanks for stopping by! 👊
I started with deluxe navy rolls. Escudo is very similar. It’s a special smoke when I have Peterson. But escudo is in my closet also.
Great tobaccos, we don’t get Escudo around here, but I’m perfectly happy with the Peterson DLNR!

Man I love that pipe! Great looking pipe!
I'll get to do this test also soon enough. Love the grassy and bready notes like you described. Hope you are well!

Appearance in the tin ... almost too pretty to smoke 😍
Have only smoked one ... didn't really float my boat, but very pleasant.
Very enjoyable video 👍
I really like this Peterson/Dunhill Rolls. One of my favorite VaPer. Haven't tried Escudo.
To me, the only difference is the packaging! 😅
Very nice tobaccos, it doesn’t matter which one you can get - it’s worth it.
✌️

Perhaps if I smoke either every day I’ll be able to tell the difference, but as an occasional smoke - they both will do just fine!
😂

Honest review! I love both tobaccos and I can’t tell them apart. Escudo is normally a few dollars cheaper per tin. Thanks.
I love them both! Here in UK Escudo does not exist, but I think I’ve got enough of the other. 😄
Thanks for stopping by!
Enjoy your smokes!
Escudo is more peppery to me.
Both are great. Love me some VaPers.
Never had the Peterson navy rolls, but I do enjoy the Escudo. Picked up a tin of escudo when I was in Virginia, I really enjoyed it.
Both great tobaccos! If I knew I could have sent you a tin... anyway, as long as you can get one of them you’ll be fine!
✌️
13 PIPES oh that’s fine I can get them both here, I’ve just never tried the Peterson’s and just tried escudo in the last two months
😁 No need for me to buy the Peterson Escudo then. Thanks for the clarification.
I'm with you 13. I also have heard both blends come off the same line in the factory effectively being the same
On top of that I kinda suspect that before cutting it into coins, that tobaccos has been packaged and sold as the former Peter Heinrich Curley Block… now Wessex Curley Block😂 - STG inventions…
Hi. Both are at the top of my list. MIke at Briar Blues did a good comparison video a little while back. Check out his video. Be well.
To me Peterson is sweeter. Otherwise very similar but I can tell the difference. I like the Peterson better because of the sweetness
I’ve only ever had this tin of Escudo, but I’m quite happy with the Peterson we’ve got here in UK.
I find them identical
Smile brother, it's free
As strange as it might seem, I smile sometimes… perhaps more often then I should.
Thankfully, they haven’t introduced penalty for ‘not smiling’… yet😅
I've smoked them both but i cannot recall anything about them.. I wasn't a fan but will try them again..my tastes might have "refined" a touch.. lol
I feel Escudo is better because I have a stuffed chicken named Escudo🤣 they are both very nice!🍭🐓👶
I know... 😂
They are both excellent VaPers! ✌️
🍭🐓👶
I've ordered Samuel gawith navy flake, might try Peterson's next
The only Dunhill/Peterson blends I really care about are this one and Nightcap.
✌️
@@13pipes I've got a sweet tooth so usually anything with a bit of it is good. SG Balkan flake I like for that
cheshire piper
Another favourite!👍
Very cool vid I cracked a tin of Comoys no 7 this morning very similar taste they are all good smokes in my opinion
I’ll have to try that, never had any Comoys.
🍻✌️
If you like these you might love Ropers Roundels. I find them even better than the navy rolls.
Never heard of that blend, thanks for the tip!👍✌️

This is the only Peterson pipe I have. It’s simple and just perfect - the pipe i smoke the most! Bough it last November for about £60.
✌️

It’s Turkish one, they spell it ‘Ud’, I got it probably 15 years ago. Great instrument indeed, fantastic sound!
Cheers!
hi,,i have seen escudo de luxe for sale in uk at cigars of cuba ,according to their website,,£16.66 for 50g.
Yes, I found it too!👍✌️
Sadly I have not tried either (yet). I do like PS luxury Navy flake.
Both excellent blends!👍 Never had the PS Navy Flake myself… there are far too many tobaccos out there😄, luckily!
Subbed :)
Oddly I've had Escudo but not the Peterson! I like it though, but then I haven't found a VaPer I don't like 😊👍
Still, there are good and better VaPers. These two are from the later kind!
