- Let's revisit "Flake" by Dunhill. You can't get it anymore, so this whole exercise is a bit pointless.

Thanks for watching, gang. Just so you know, this video has been deemed "Not suitable for most advertisers" by UA-cam, just like several dozen of my latest videos have been in the last 24 hours. There's no rhyme or reason as to why. Some videos are fine, and they contain the same tags and similar subject matter. Ask UA-cam to tell us what we can do to avoid demonetization. It's getting VERY frustrating.
Another channel that reviews pipe tobacco and cigars also just got hit with demonetization on his videos.
May I direct you to fellow YTPC member Tea n Tobacco, who dug a little deeper, here is a link to his vid where he explains what he found. TLDW version, private anti-tobacco groups, the FDA and the FTC are all sending out letters to social media owners and getting them to stop promoting tobacco in any form, purpose or description. This sucks A@@.

Really sad to hear this. This is completely unfair. For what it’s worth, you are quite the talent.
I submitted this one for review and it came back okay for now, but I submitted about thirty others, and they were all confirmed as unsuitable for ads. No rhyme or reason!
STUFFandTHINGS Where is the consistency in that??? Weird and frustrating
I have never smoked this one, but I have a tin of it that I bought two years ago (the day my daughter was born). I am saving it until her 10th birthday. I walked into the only pipe shop that I frequent and told them I wanted a Virginia that would age well, and this is what they recommended. I have bought several blends based on your reviews, and I've never been disappointed. I am really looking forward to smoking this blend. I am so dedicated to waiting though, that I bought Captain Black and Prince Albert to get me through until my next order.
You're seriously tempting me to open the tin I have that's been aging for years, but I'm trying to hold off on that and smoke through all of my other virginians first.
I’m super stoked you are loving the stash I sent my friend!
It's been great! Thanks again so much!
Great box and great photos!
STUFFandTHINGS of corse!
Cyril ViXP thank you so much! I appreciate the support.
Never been a Virginia fan, but I've always liked Dunhill Flake. Used to have two identical Savinelli 4-square pipes devoted to that blend.
I'm liking the revisited series man! Love being surprised by an old forgotten blend!
Since it's summer time.. re-visit Orlik golden sliced sometime soon.
Excellent Bradley. I smoked one tin many years ago and I have another unopened. The point is that I don’t remember the flavour of this blend
Do you use certain pipes for certain blends and are certain pipe shapes better for different blends or cuts
Enjoying these revisited videos Bradley. Well done as always and definitely a top VA. Have a great weekend.
Having it for the first time. The grassy hay like qualities hit me of the sure smell of corn silage. I can even taste it just as well but I love it.
It is still fun to hear Dunhill Blends. It keeps them alive for us and some of us stockpiled. Great review.
"Warning! I'm wearing a ridiculous hat." Than or now? :D
Hi Bradley!
I’m smoking my first bowl of this (well, the Peterson version) right now. Absolutely wonderful!
Do you still enjoy this now that it is available again?
This and other former Dunhill blends are now out in the UK rebranded as Peterson and still by STG to original recipies. Looking forward to trying them under the Peterson banner. Deluxe Navy Rolls, Elizebethan Mixture, EMP and Royal Yacht and also a couple of others released this week. I am eagerly awaiting Dark Flake but it is not out yet. Regards, John.
This is the very blend that gave me my first “wow” moment in pipe smoking. It was an, “I can’t believe this exists and why doesn’t everyone smoke it??” feeling.
I have this, FVF, Reiner LGF and Capstan Blue as the A class tobacco.
Reiner LgF is the best, and capstan the second
@@paulthescandinavian4992 you cannot put Reiner long golden and Capstan are cased. Reiner is a VaPer as well, not straight Virginia. I have and love em all but yeah_. A little sub genre issue there. :). I’d compare flake against full Virginia flake and other straight unflavored Virginias
@@peter-radiantpipes2800 Yes, I have to agree
And now, in Nov 2019, I'm giving this flake a try as I watch this video. I've seen it on eBay for more than I'd prefer to pay. I started piping in very early 2018 and it seems this was one of the first Dunhill blends to be entirely bought up, so I missed out. Until now. Thanks goes to STG for bringing back most of the favorites. Let's all buy a bunch of these blends and really show them how much we appreciate them picking up the torch. My favorite is 965 and I stashed away twenty tins of it and at least fifteen of all the other Dunhills. I'll cellar the Dunhills and enjoy the Petersons. It's a win win.
I love how your revisiting past blends. I'd love to see you redo c&d bayou morning sweet smokes 💨
Well your opinion of motorcycles and trains has remained the same. Lol! I love this blend so I stocked up. Thank you and be well!
Please, can you try the new Peterson (former Dunhill) blends? STG brought out some of the old blends, they say that it's the original recipe. They are available in Germany now but I don't know if they are in the US.
One of my new favorites. Been skipping FVF and others for this and Capstan lately.
Dunhill Flake
"I have something wonderful but it's not available so you can't try it". Frustrating........ I love your channel and your reviews/advice. Would appreciate you sticking to things that are AVAILABLE? :) . Keep up the great work!
Quite ironic that the day you post this video, i happened to find some tins of dunhill flake at my local b&m Blatter and Blatter. Definately my favorite virginia flake and im very sad to see it go, luckily i have some put away. Great video brad!
Jonathan Arcieri lucky!!! What are the prices on them and where do I need to call to buy them? 😂😂😂
@@ciscor76 40$ cad, unfortunately because of retrictive provincial laws, you cannot order tobacco online
Got this blend for my cellar/stash before just before it was unavailable. Will break it out this weekend. 👍
Just ordered some Flake Friday along with Elizabethian Blend. Anxious to try them both!
Wow Bradley how the years pass my friend i remember that hat. Lol. Yesss i have some dunhill. Flake in my celler aging i cant wait to try some. Is going to be awesome with some age on it thanks for taking us back in time my friend 👍👍👍👍👍😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄 best regards peter. The Smooooove. Piper.
The fedora fits you more than mailboy
Opened up my first tin last night and have my first smoke of it, and WOW, I've never had a virginian tobacco that's so damn good. It paired with some Knob Creek... beautiful.
Hey Brad, maybe consider with the revisited series one of your old McClelland Christmas cheer. It’s been 4 years since your 2015 review. Maybe you could review the aged version?
Love the old clip! Haha I like the hat I think is suits you
This is one I wanted to try. This and Dunhill Dark Flake.
Great vid Bradley. Thanks a lot.
Thanks for this revisit, much appreciated ,
Had a bowl of this last night. I only have one bowl left :(
Enjoy ! :D
You should maybe retitle this video with Peterson in parentheses so searches will catch it for newbies. Cheers.
Yeah just bought the Peterson version and similar response to your first review, good but not amazing , it is as straight a Virginia as you can get, fresh cut grass and hay, all the way…. Extremely young too, I think it will age well and be fantastic, as Gawith is much older…. It’s grown on me too.
I really miss dark flake. Delicious blend.
You should revisit HH pure Virginia flake. Probably some of the highest quality nuisance latent Virginia blends I've ever smoked.
Back in Peterson Flake!
I wish I woulda bought more as well!!! So bummed about this blend
What would the show be without motorcycle drive-by's? Haha!
I have a tin of this (Dunhill branded) unopened and aging in the back of a cupboard. I've been resisting the temptation to crack it open as I want to see how it tastes with a few years of aging. I also have an unopened tin of Three Year Aged Virginia which will now be 5-year aged, maybe more. That's tempting too. Very tempting. Should I be good or should I be greedy?
I say smoke it, dude! We never know if tomorrow is gonna come.
@@VoxGothica The way the world looks nowadays, you may be right!
Orlik Bradley! Redo the video of Orlik golden slice!
Agree, please review Orlik Golden Slice!
I do prefer the square/rectangle tins...
Hey bradley ! You can now get it back to the cellar :)
Still gotta review HH Burley Flake
1:32 “...warning: I’m wearing a ridiculous hat.” You still are.
How similar is this to Dark Flake?
Totally different smokes both very good.
A revisited-revisited Peterson Flake?
Oh yes. This is on my list.
One hundred !
Just get some Mac B hh pure virginia. Its time to move on
Notice that there are public service ad breaks instead of the normal ads which generate revenue. Stop smoking it says.
Motorcycles...
Motorcycles
I have just dug out the last tin from my stash and am savouring that goodness right now! Mmm
Tastes like chocolate.
Why do trains have to blare their horns so loudly so many times before going by? Is that a law or an asshole engineer shouting “safety first!” with a huge evil smile on his face? Casey jones over here all hopped up on coke
No offense, but why review a blend nobody can buy anymore? I like the revisited series, but I don't see the value in covering discontinued blends.
Why climb a mountain with no pub at the summit ?
Nostalgia?
These blends are still available "In the wild". They are sitting on shelves at local B&M's waiting to be purchased by pipe enthusiast. There is a pretty hot secondary market as well. There are FB groups of people that stocked up or are selling their collection. You will typically spend much more for the same tin but maybe a newer pipe smoker sees this video and wants to hunt a tin down to try. There's a lot of reasons for this review. Look past the limits of it not being available through online catalogs anymore.
