If you’re a cookies and cream lover, then you are going to literally fall in love with this incredibly soft Oreo cake! This recipe consists of soft vanilla and Oreo cake layers, topped with a super smooth Oreo buttercream frosting - YUM!
INGREDIENTS:
Oreo Cake
- 14 Oreos - roughly chopped
- 2⅓ cups (300 g) flour - regular all purpose (see note 1 on blog post if you want to use cake flour)
- ¼ cup (25 g) cornflour - also known as cornstarch
- ½ tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp baking powder
- ½ tsp salt - omit if using salted butter
- ½ cup (113 g) unsalted butter - room temperature
- ½ cup (105 g) unflavoured vegetable oil - I use canola
- 1⅔ cups (332 g) white granulated sugar
- 3 large eggs - room temperature
- 1¼ tbsp vanilla essence/extract
- 1 tsp white vinegar
- 1½ cups (337 g) buttermilk - room temperature, see note 5 on blog post if using a homemade buttermilk substitute
Oreo Buttercream Frosting
- 14 Oreos - blended to fine crumbs
- 1½ cups (340 g) unsalted butter - room temperature
- 2¾ cups (350 g) icing sugar - also known as powdered sugar/confectioners sugar
- 1½ tsp vanilla essence/extract
- 1½ tbsp milk - heavy or whipping cream okay too
Extra for Decorating (optional)
- 3 Oreos (recommended) - to go it between the cake layers to add extra crunch/texture
- 4 Oreos (optional) - to decorate the sides of the cake (blended into fine crumbs)
- 10-12 Oreos (optional) - to put on the top of the cake
Bake at 160 °C (320°F) with the fan on for 33 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. If your oven doesn't have a fan option, then you will need to increase the baking temperature to 175°C (347°F).

I'm an absolutely rubbish baker, but I made this cake and the whole neighbourhood is love with me now. You must try it-- it is very soft and lovely, but the oreo pieces give it a lovely crunch. At first, I thought that buttercream icing seemed too rich, but once the cake was assembled, it was all amazing. And by the next day, all of the flavours blended just perfectly. What a cake!!! It's absolutely divine.
@@kurocreationss It was perfect-- and we don't like things that are too sweet at my house. The only bit that we thought might be overwhelming was the richness of the buttercream frosting; but, especially the next day, that was perfect as well. Just make it-- we can't stop talking about how amazing this cake was!

I bought the Oreo cake mix because I like to have that part all done. But I love making icing from scratch. :) I am glad I looked at different videos because I'm almost broke(bought fondant and fondant templates to add to his cake) and other videos mentioned either cream cheese or heavy whipping cream. I normally use water or milk for icings. Just trying to avoid going to the store again 😂😆. (My sons birthday and Easter is the same weekend and I'm gonna be busy)

I bake this oreo cake for d 1st time, using the same recipe (half portion), reduced 30% sugar & put them in cupcake. Temperature 180°C, 20min. It was a HUGE SUCCESS! My family members love it so much! Thank you so much for this amazing recipe. Love from Malaysia ❤

I only needed this video to subscribe and I gotta say, you just became one of my favorite baking channels. I am yet to try this recipe because I don't have several things to try and bake it. But I will do it someday, still, thank you for this recipe, it looks insane.
I made this recipe last week for my 10 year olds birthday. I cut back a little on the Oreo's but otherwise followed the directions exactly. This is one of the best cakes I've eaten. The texture of the cake was perfect. I will be making this again and I want to use the base cake and take out the Oreos and try adding things like coconut. This was the first recipe I've tried of yours and I can't wait to try others. Thank you for sharing.
