The FT Flyer was my first ever build way back when it was first released and inspired me to build 30+ scratch builds thereafter, watching this video brings back so many memories!

the FT flyer was my first scratch build, and my first night flying experience on a soldered LED array. truly a blast from the past.

Just finished mine. Can’t wait to fly these side by side with my son!

Very cool. My kids will definitely enjoy the flight characteristics of the nut ball since they love my little pizza box flyer. I made a similar 3 channel with a dominos box and blew their minds. I love saying, you can make anything fly with enough power and like these were done with smaller motors but can still do high alpha. Makes them perfectly controllable for busy parks. Uncontrollable airplanes in parks frighten people but very controlled slow flyers comforts people I have found.

All the details, clearly filmed. Nice work Josh!

I find here in the Uk because our foam board is heavier I need to ad 2 inches (50mm) to the nose of these models. Excellent starter though as they are quick and cheap to build.

Hey FT fam!! I think you guys should do a Snow-ball refresh! I had so much fun with the snow ball years ago, scooting around on fresh powder in my yard and popping up into the air from time to time was sooo much fun!

Great build video. I'm just finishing my FT Flyer and it won't come close to balancing with a 2s 450 battery that I"m using in the FT Nutball. Not even with a 3s 450 battery. I'm using a 24gram Blue Wonder in the Nutball, using a 2206-1500kv 29gram motor in the Flyer. Everything else is as light or lighter than recommended.

I ended up needing to remove a portion of the tail dragging skewer and anything extra glue I could scrape off the back (since the COG is so far forward, a little from the back went a long way). I made sure the receiver and the esc as far forward as possible, and I bent the landing gear forward. But I still needed to add 10g of weight to the very front to get it to balance. I am new to this - but it did fly okay out of balance. How did yours end up?

@@JakeAmandaTeater thanks for your reply. I removed the 15 gram Value Hobby motor and installed a 24 gram (blue wonder) Hextronik 1300kv. It helped the balance issue but I still need my 2s 500 Lipo velcroed to the underside of the fuselage and sticking out halfway in front of the firewall. It balances this way and flies well. I’m using a 9x5 prop on 2s. I think an 8” prop on 3s would make it more snappy… but also heavier.

How can you bend the wing when the power pod inserted without breaking the inserted foam to the wing slots ?

I wouldn't mind winning the lottery and getting a new Honda monkey bike in banana yellow, and I'm making a glider and some kites, but that's it really.
