Built Stick from this video. I am a Senior new to hobby. After 100s of hours build watching videos ,many crashes I can now fly. Favorite (FT Flyer). THANKs Josh . You made a HAPPY SENIOR.
My dad flew an Ugly stick. The only aerobatics it did happened on its final flight on its way to terminal deconstruction…. He would build them in the winter and “fly” them in nicer weather. I felt fortunate to come to the field with him. Now I fly a foam plane easily and quickly constructed. He gave me a love for RC planes; this hobby can span generations.
Hi from Ireland you guys have it so east flying those models compared when when i use to fly the radio controlled models way back about 50 years a go there was no electric motors back then was all glow fuel balsa wood and some fine plyboard the glow fuel was alcohol and caster oil lol. And there were no plans do did it from your head and wood glue. often heard the saying that is dope now i know where that came from Josh ever dope paper onto a wing lol
This has always been one of my favorite planes. Always a great, general purpose, all-around good flying plane. I can't wait to build the FT version. Let's go!!
One thing that I have found that helps is to press or "roll" down the double bevel cuts before folding. The foam is going to be compressed anyway when you fold, and this gives a little relief to the folded joint and paper before you start. I haven't noticed any cons to this procedure. I just use a screwdriver handle or some other smooth round object to press the foam down ahead of the fold. Works great every time.
It would be great for a flying demonstration if you could do a split screen showing the plane on one half and the pilots hands on the sticks on the other half. Seeing how the aerobatic maneuvers are done in this way would be very educational for newer pilots
The best tool I have found to cut score lines without cutting the paper is a Stanley carpet knife. The blades are rounded on the ends so no problem with cutting the paper.
I follow the channels for months, I’m watching all your videos. I was stopped for 7 years, I returned to passion because of you. builds the mini SE5 and FT_MIG_3. fly very well. and I will get baby blender and moni dr1 I'm brazilian. my congratulations on your beautiful work.

Do you like the utility knife/carpet blade holders?I do trash removal for building maintenance I've cut up so much stuff for recycling what do you think? How many watts is your glue gun?
Hi josh! I have a question. So I am thinking about putting togerther a simple cub! And I don’t know if I should go with the power pack b or c. Im the kind of guy that is slower and not as acrobatic and crazy. Which one do you think I should go with?
I built a slow stick this summer using a carbon fiber arrow shaft, a dozen 3d printed parts and the wing and tail from the FT scout. Amazing flyer with an all up weight of 400 grams. Too fun.
I always thought the simple stick, slow stick, race stick, ugly stick and other "stick" planes were same plane with different wing foils or whatever is changeable outside of the stick type square fueslage
Just finished the plane it is a learning process with Flite Test foam board planes. I did not pay as close of attention to the build video and made some mistakes non fatal. I ended up having to install the rudder servo on the outside of the plane just back of the wing saddle. I did not do a good job with the double -bend servo to control horns. The weight was as specified. With a 3S 1300 battery the CG came out perfect. The motor put out 188 watts which is 150 watts per pound. I tried a 4S and even before I got to full throttle. I was above 350 watts. It must be a rocket ship with 4S. Weather is not cooperating lately so the maiden will have to wait. I will hand launch. If I like it, I plan to build another incorporating what I learned this time. I can also use the build methods for some projects I have in mind.

I immediately went to the website to buy this kit. But, upon looking at the price I backed off. I'd respectfully suggest that the $50.98 price seems out of line with the price on your other kits - many of which seem more complex than the Simple Stick. Regardless, it looks like a great kit. Thanks for sharing. Steve

Hey guys. I'm on my first ever FT build. I am building the Simple Stick. It has went together great! And has been a great experience. However, the power pod has a different firewall in it and I did have to figure out the mounting of the any plans to to a quick update video or just have an updated instruction sheet available? If it's already on the website just disregard this first time noob! Lol.
Great stuff Josh. You have inspired me to build some models, but I am a beginner so just focused on 3 channel at the moment until I get better...at not crashing!! Can you build the Stick as a 3 channel Trainer?
Any of the FT Planes can be flown 3 Channel. Look for where Josh and others show you HOW to build, not using the aileron "choice". (Some of their planes even advise you to start out building and flying 3-Channel, then when good at it - you can even change-over to using the "4th Channel Option"!).
The Stick would be terrible for 3 channel. A 3 channel plane needs to have some dihedral (wing slants up as you go from root to wing tip) in the wing or it won't be controllable. The stick not only has zero dihedral, but also has a symmetrical wing profile. It's meant for 4-channel acrobatic flight. Don't start with it.
I am kind of confused. YOu have 2 video on theSimple stick build, one with motor mount frame mounted and one with this being an engine install mount. Why the difference and is one method better than the other??
Flitetest amazing video i am into a lot of coding and things so my plan is to make the simple stick into autonomous flight mode it will be intersting to watch
