  • After summiting Middle Teton it might be a hikers sin to walk away from the South Teton as the two mountains share a saddle. Additionally, I don't think South Teton is worthy of being the main objective of any day hike. When I got down to the saddle I wasn't feeling the best. I had to make a choice as it started to rain on me. I was forced to continue by my own will and I knew I probably would not be back here. So, I ate some salt and vinegar chips and pushed through. This hike was very enjoyable and I highly recommend including South Teton in your Middle Teton hike if you want a little extra challenge and reward. If you want to add even more elevation to your hike like I did, then go up toward the lower saddle of the Grand Teton and take the scenic off trail boulder route to ensure the day is as dangerous as possible 😅

Pretty impressive. Didn't waste much time. Traveled light and fast. Great high-def camera. And yes, that glacial filtered water in the Tetons is the best.

Did the same route earlier this summer and feel lucky that I had the summits to myself. Maybe earlier in the season judging by the snowpack. Will be back!

Awesome tip! I will have to try salt and vinegar chips. Dont know how I missed this video. Really cool. Finally learned how to pronounce Couloir 😅 my friend broke his leg in wyoming sliding down a snowfield to take a shortcut... kind of a crazy story. I dont recall if he told story on my channel or not. He is the old gentleman in most of my videos.

With your athleticism you should try a trail runner instead of the boots. Getting a pound off your feet will 2x your speed and energy.

Really cool video! How dangerous/difficult would you say the Middle and South peaks are? Or up till where does it start to get sketchy? Do you think an average fit person would be able to do it thanks in advance

It really isn't technical at all. As long as you are comfortable going 17 miles and gaining 6000 feet in elevation for the middle teton. If you are feeling great at the saddle after middle then cross the saddle and hike up to the south teton. It adds another 1000 feet elevation gain.

You would have ascended the headwall with the fixed ropes if you went up to the lower saddle looks like you just took the wrong trail down in the meadow a common mistake

Exactly. I started making my way toward the lower saddle. I didn't make it all the way to the saddle. I realized I was off track before I got too far and climbed down.
