Bob talked to me about his high school in the back of a van while eating pizza after a show in louisville, ky. He said they used to call it Jim Morrison High. ☺
Lyrics as I heard them, I'm sure I got it wrong. Free agents are the lowest people in the world, but not Jed They learn to sit, but not roll over and play dead It won't fade out Learn from what previously has happened in your life You can't fake it And how to swim up downstream rivers in weird states Your might(?)?? and Feel like suffering inside And it's your eager and maybe just your pride Nuns appear delighted swelling high and just as wide And fear nots like remission Life is like a slot machine all goes up and down as in a dream Similar to an aerosol spray All free agents know the way to fly Fly We all shine on like diamond rings Never been to Heaven, but I heard I good things All right
I strongly disagree. I love the old stuff, but I'm coming around to the possibility that my affinity for it is tied to nostalgia. Space Gun to present is what I've found myself going to for my GbV fix 90 percent of the time. Seeing them play a fantastic show during the 2018 tour revitalized my fandom and made me pay attention again. Now, untethered to nostalgia (outside of that one show), I really do think that the Space Gun to Cub Scouts is another magical streak of albums. If you haven't listened to the Cub Scout Bowling Pins ep, give it a try. I'm probably delusional, but at the moment, it's my favorite GbV etc ep.
@Matt Borel Recent stuff is patchy to my ears, fans are way too sycophantic. How Do You Spell Heaven and Space Gun are really good albums IMO. Ooooh and Warp and Woof! LIghten up mate. It's only GBV. No you're not going to hear wild forays into genres they've never thought about exploring like zouk or polka or jazz. But they still condense multiple elements and ideas and squeeze them tightly into one song like no other band can do on a good day.
@Matt Borel Fair enough. Plenty of inspired moments to my ears. Not like they're stopping any young bands from doing anything. There's Car Seat Headrest if you want them... you can take em.
Bob's got more hooks than a tackle box.

sonic
1/8th notes and meandering vocals. Been that way for years. The Prop to UTBUTS magic ain't never coming back.

That said, this track ain't doing it for me yet.
