Aaaah. The older Blind Guardian songs certainly had a flavour to them.
Best BG in my opinion of course, that era had the best solos.

I remember it like it was yesterday: it was 1994, I was 20 years old, access to music was much more difficult than it is today, and I was just starting to get acquainted with contemporary metal after having spent my adolescence listening to the rock legends of the 70s - Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, Rainbow, Rush - on old cassette tapes lent to me by my older brother. A friend had an album called Somewhere Far Beyond, by a German band I didn’t know, which he spoke highly of. I gave him a blank cassette tape and asked him to copy the album for me. When I heard it, I was amazed: it had that unmistakable feeling of German metal, which I had already learned to recognize with Scorpions and Helloween, but their sound was unique. Their mixing of high doses of heaviness and melody left me absolutely amazed. I never stopped listening to Blind Guardian, and 30 years later, here I am, listening to this new and wonderful version of the first song of theirs I ever heard in my life. How could I not be moved?

Oh my god, this moves me, it almost makes me cry. When I was 15 years old, I bought this album on cassette and listened to it all the time... I had to walk half an hour to school and the entire round trip was done listening to this cassette on my Walkman, so they decided to re-record it. It makes me very happy, for me it is very special.
I take a pride to have lived in Blind Guardian era.
Spent many hours listening to these guys. And demons and wizards. Hansi is hands down one of the most elite in all of metal.
You can not imagine the hours I have spent lying on bed, closed eyes, hearing you as an amateur musician(i was drummer and accompanied friends bands as hearer), and as a tolkien fan and roleplayer and literature fan. Sincere thanks to you, for aall that hours of dreamings and explorings into my soul. YOU are the metal genuine ost of middle earth.... please, eat the Athelas for living forever.my tolkien barbarian beorning always will need you for accompany him at the moments on his life (overall the hard ones), and for inspiring him at battle.

I just realised that this song was about Blade runner, years after listening to it for the first time.
Thank you so much, Blind Guardian, for all the wonderful and unique music you have been giving to your fans. "Somewhere far Beyond" opened a whole new world to me: a band that actually played the amazing harmonies that would lift a song from being heavy and powerful to also having a fantastic sort of baroque elegance!

It's very great that our bands revisited and remastered and re record the olds classics album like this, but in its moment it was the fair time in that age... the original is only one, but very Congrats for Blind Guardian have made this re recording again with their Modern sounds and it's awesome and powerful!

It isn't necessary for most bands, Guardian included. Fans are unlikely to prefer the re-recording, except if the original was exceptionally poorly recorded (Breeding the Spawn, for example)

Eu não sou tão fã de power metal, gosto mais de thrash, Kreator, Slayer, Sodom, Sepultura etc, mas eu amo Blind Guardian, eles são diferentes, talvez pelo vocal agressivo do Hansi 🤘
I find it hard to compare Blind Guardian to other power metal bands. It is still very much power metal, but it incorporates speed metal and Hansi has a much deeper voice than other bands.
They also take themselves seriously and don't sing about things that are either purposefully silly or stereotypically nerdy, like over the top sci-fi or killing dragons. Just books and movies really.

There's just the bards himself to do a perfect cover of such an iconic song and album. I was thinking at first it was a sacrilege to touch that record but they succeed at giving us a slightly different version that I love equally. That chorus is a little bit better I think because of the back vocals. Long live the bards \m/

But the album ‘Somewhere far beyond’ was good and didn't need to be reworked - or revisited.
It has lost its dynamics.
The original was much better - You can feel the band's enthusiasm.
