"Weatherman and Space Goddess" from "Robert Pollard is Off to Business" is over five minutes. Pretty soon it'll be a side-length song like "From the Cradle to the Grave" by UK Subhumans...
This is too good. It makes me feel too good and too many emotions sweep over my entire fucking face. I want the rune stamped on my forehead. I want to blast this in the desert and race motorcycles at high speeds with this in my ears. I want to punch glass. Guided by Voices forever.
Best GBV single in 5 years. Also could be Isolation Drills era. Epic rock anthem. Builds and builds then changes twice to finish on a happy high. Yes, matches video perfectly. #theclubisSTILLopen
One of the very best! Another underrated recent-ish GBV-pop-hit number is "Kid On A Ladder". It suffers a bit for Bob's one-handed drumming and the production, but played with the current live band it's up there with "My Valuable Hunting Knife" or "Game Of Pricks" imo.Ditto for Glittering Parliaments".
GBV is ten kinds of awesome!!! Here it comes--It has an ABC Friday Night Mystery Movie, C. 1981 vibe to me. Also, here it comes--Everything that happens after I posted this comment(including the editing I did):
Got tickets from KDU; went with a six pack of tall boy PBRs in my bag that the other person didn't want. Couldn't go with em, had em all. Fun show, I only remember space gun
Careful now, but if there was a way to combine this with one of the central theories of Geographic Information Systems (a map is static the minute you make it) this is a hell of a way to model the spread of COVID19. Or how our institutions our creating the homelessness crisis...
now the pink gun is a space gun? i'm utterly perplexed why an intellectual and nonconformist like pollard is so obsessed with weaponry and the military (he has an album or song using the name of every branch of it)
DDDDDDDDDDDDD.... always the sign a monster riff is about to come...
Especially when you get the diminished in there, too. DDDDDDDDdddddDDDDDDDddddddddDDDDDDD
Bob got permission from the rock gods to go beyond the 4 minute mark.

What's a minute?
How did I miss these guys for so long?
fucking gold. if it was a little more lo-fi this could easily fit onto propeller .

I fucking agree.
Doug's magic beginning at the 3:38 mark is the icing on the cake. I just love his guitar work.
Couldn't agree more
If you haven't got Doug's album 'Parade On' ...GET IT!
Agreed. Doug is such a good foil for Bob.

Bob: stay with us forever. The day you'll be gone I'll crumble down piece by piece..
I thought about this an hour ago.... I'll be lost
I fully plan on attending the GBV 80th anniversary at the Dayton Masonic. Bob can't stop rocking and won't stop.
these guys never lost it
I’d be sad if they did
Because they were guided by v o i c e s
I wonder if Bob ever thought that we would be guided by his voice. They fucking rule.
*baddest guy on circus sign*
This is like the best song ever. And I'm not even exaggerating.
it's better than anything by Mott the Hoople (according to my dad, who is 74)
It's a great one. How lucky are we to know them.
Over and over again I keep falling in love with GBV. Golden
❤
the relentless magnificence x
Your a inhumane perso for squeezing jack May's head

i think diver dan the best single in 5 years
They rule. It's a fact.
@@bookboy7007 That song (Diver Dan) is just so ridiculously peppy and catchy!

Best album of 2018.
They need to employ this dancer at GbV shows, kind of like Stacia Blake was to Hawkwind.
This song is fucking brilliant. Can't wait for the album.

the beauty of this is unparalleled
This is so insanely good. Bloody hell.
Brilliant tune! And this may be their best video yet.
Great song, great video, great band.
my lockdown morning boogie music of choice .... gawd bless Bob
Another great tune from this band
wow , that's the best video gbv ever got , nice work Hunter Christy!
GBV with a budget; I never thought I'd see the day.
So fucking good.
I can't find the lyrics anywhere.
Earthquake Glue-ish. Killer song.
Got tickets from KDU; went with a six pack of tall boy PBRs in my bag that the other person didn't want. Couldn't go with em, had em all. Fun show, I only remember space gun
March 23 can't come soon enough!
King Midas strikes again! His antennae is directly tuned in to Rock N' Roll heaven.
Straight banger.
When video and audio combine perfectly. Stunning!
this band is the best. i always feel a little bit better after listening
Ladies and gentleman, The Guided By Voices! (hope someone gets the reference)
Things that i will keep.
Also, parts of Over the Neptune.
And Flunky Minnows.
Awesome! At one point (the drum pause at 2:40) sounds a bit like 'Everybody Thinks I'm a Rain Cloud...' from Half Smiles
My Favourite band!!
So amazing they complement each other so well.
There it went . Into space .
Bob is divine!
This video would have looked great if it had been used as the opening title credits of early to mid 80s Doctor Who .
I am a true believer.
Gods bless Guided By Voices
What the fuck yeah!!!!!
Lyrics please
Wow...... best video GBV has ever done.
looks like they just topped it: ua-cam.com/video/h8Nsq2zMyyM/v-deo.html

Dayton is an air force base town. Stealth fighters fly over town regularly.
Magnificent!!!
Great song!
