“In the apology video, the management staff take full responsibility for the shoddy release” Except for when they threw the QA department under the bus by saying “our testing did not show a big part of the issues you are experiencing while playing the game.” If there’s anything I’ve heard about the hellscape that is QA, it’s that 90% of the time testers absolutely find the bugs in question; their reports just get ignored by higher-ups. I can understand wanting to give the benefit of the doubt, but after that half-assed attempt at passing off blame I feel no such compulsion.
That's what happens when you have morons more concerned with making money as the heads of a company. God I wish this bullshit ends sooner or later. Tired of seeing these bastards get millions for doing nothing while the devs barely get paid anything for their hard work.
Tbf if you played on a high end machine the bugs were very, very rare, even at release. Id be willing to bet that in house testers were playing on some of the best machines money can buy. Better machines mean faster loads and when work constitutes playing the game, faster loads mean more time spent working and less time spent waiting.
I've heard that the company doing the QA had some changes in policy, giving employees a bug reportimg quota(a bad idea), and letting a lot of unexperienced people work onvthe project, they had a part in the desaster. Upper Echelon Gamers made a video on the topic ("What Made Cyberpunk 2077 Fail - Quantic Lab?)
Yeah, I mostly wait at least 2 (usually more, upwards of 5 or 6) years and a heavy spring/summer sale that gets at least 75% off. Doesnt work for all games, but I cant in good conscience spend 60 dollars for a buggy mess

don't get your hopes up. NMS was a passion project made by a small dedicated team. CDPR is a corporate entity with over a thousand employees and notoriously awful working conditions. the best we can probably hope for is a Final Fantasy XV-type situation.
@@EdenNeedsAUA-camHandle completely agreed, on top of that we all know the problems run much deeper than just the bugs. Also many OG devs left after they dropped cyberpunk and also as CDPR became big, they got more employees, there is no longer "the boys" feel in their team.
The lesson we should learn? Just because the executives have the last say...doesn't mean they should have the last word. People who know how to handle money, should handle money. The people who know how to handle game development, should handle game development. You'd think it would be that simple, but nope. Cyberpunk 2077, at best, is a cake that should have stayed in the oven a bit longer and at worse, a Pizza that fell over.
My main problem isn’t with the bugs, crashes, or terrible performance. It’s the shit ton of missing features. Seriously, there are more missing features than implemented features.

If the game was a success, the "gamer" would literally shrug the entire Employee abuse debacle under the rug. Because they care more about product than human well-being. Edit: Yes, you can replace "Gamer" with "Consumer in General". My advice: Don't buy shit from shitty company. I'm not gonna buy anything from CDPR knowing they treat human being like cannon fodder, I refund my RDR2 when I found out they abuse their worker ages ago. I will willingly refund or deleted other games from my library *if I know* the company behind the product did something unethical. Games are supposed to make you entertained and feel good, it is not feel good for me to play game knowing that company uses living breathing human being treated like expendable resource in order to get the product made.
If you didnt get validation from this you wouldnt be typing this either you dont care about the developers you care about clapping you get when you say stuff like this not the human well-being.
Thats not even gamers, thats just consumers in general, so many companies use child labor and that sort and pay them only a dime when they finish their work (I'm more so talking about apple but companies like Amazon also have hell like conditions for workers and pay them them very little) but it also gets brushed under the rug, it's just the sad reality and I wouldn't except it to change any time soon.
I fucking hate when people say this, as if it's my fault they got garbage policies at their company, and that somehow I should feel bad about something I am not at all connected to. If they are doing something nefarious, if they are treating their employees like shit, they should be able to fix it, or at the very least come to the realisation that something is seriously fucked up without having to get me involved.

CDPR always releases their games bugged though. And no one even cared about them before Witcher 3. They're basically a Bethesda that follows through in the end. CDPR can be very passionate when they're allowed, but they still have a long way to go to become any kind of hope for AAA studios.
@@jase276 I've started back in the beginning with Witcher 1 and by the time the second one came out they were getting really good at telling stories and getting better at gameplay, and people cared. The Witcher 3 was a culmination point and by the time the DLCs (expansions) were out they were not only cared about but actually beloved. The good will only piled on with the small DLCs, freebies and movies, wallpapers, no DRM, etc. That's why all the expectations were high and the disappointment was so big with Cyberpunk 2077. The witcher games had bugs but they were small, the games were playable and had compelling stories and gameplay with interesting characters and worlds; Cyberpunk fell short of that. It was a broken mess that needed a few more years to get sorted, with a world that felt empty and superficial by comparison. Not only that, but trust was lost and people that never cared about them anyway wanted to see CDPR fail because they weren't "the good guys" anymore and in all honesty, it represented a bigger problem with the industry - the higher-ups got greedy and they were lying and manipulating the media, consumers and fans. By all I know about game development and hardware, Cyberpunk will never be playable on the base Xbox one and PS4 and it will barely run on the X and Pro variants. I have no idea what they're going to do to fix this mess/get over it. I feel bad for the developers.

Main issue I had with Cyberpunk was that it just wasn't anything special? Like yeah sure I had a buggy time but I could look past that. Couldn't look past how boring the story was, how little teeth it had when it came to the themes and satires that've always been present in the cyberpunk genre, how uninteresting and skyrim like the stealth and combat was, the insanely dull +1% to punches style skill trees, the lack of impact of cybernetics and the fact that the only mission with the level of choice they'd advertised was the very first one which, coincidentally was the only one journos got to play before release. It's a game that feels like it would be very impressive in 2011 but in 2020 it's just ok.
Thing is, no number of delays could've fixed Cyberpunk's biggest problems; it's linear railroaded story, lack of meaningful choices and relationships and woefully sparse side content (races, gambling, boxing, etc.)
Sincerely glad you mentioned the working conditions at CDPR; they tried to avoid exploiting customers by exploting employees more, and that's worth as much scorn as 'haha game glitch funni bad'. Though one is admittedly a lot easier to write funny.
Gotta admit.....I was a little triggered by that blue screen at the beginning there (even though I knew I was watching UA-cam, its just a reflex now ^_^)

I tried to play Cyberpunk yesterday after having played it for 12 miserable hours shortly after release and then forgetting about it for a few months. I heard there was a big update so I thought I'd give it another try. Turns out, it's still pretty broken and they didn't include 'fun' in the big update.
The most heartwarming aspect of Cyberflunk 2076 is we all came together, as a community, to shit on this game's underwhelming offering. _That's kinda wholesome!_
Too bad it won't change anything. Cyberpunk isn't the first of its kind. I remember No Man's Sky, Anthem, Sonic 06, Duke Nukem and many more. Nor will Cyberpunk be the last seeing as it still sold 13+ million copies. It made its money. It showed the industry once again that if you hype something to the moon, it will make you money no matter how it turns out. Since gamers have the attention span of the goldfish. It's only a matter of time this happens again.
Your comedic timing somehow gets better every single upload, from the bus to “It doesn’t” to the intentional awkward pauses, i break into a laughing fit every time.
I think that 2 things killed that game. You mentioned one of that: Cocky management. In Poland we call it polish management way ;) CDPR doesn't have a good opinion as a workplace in IT industry in Poland, there are many more large corporations which pay better. Second one is IMO Keanu, they spent money on some overpriced actor ( his acting is not that great lets be honest with that ) just to raise a hype. It looks like management approached devs and said to change history and everything to fit Keanu.

The excessive and spoilery marketing just made the slap in the face even worse when people finally got their hands on the game. Even without the bugs this game would have been something like a 7 at max, and when you market it as the next Witcher 3, people are going to get pretty upset, let alone releasing it at the state it was on launch.
