Icons locking flex head & ratchet bit set from Harbor Freight is unbeatable when it comes to versatility and bit options, your mention of it in the past made me need it and its as usefull as ever with kids toys and furniture assembly, oh and edc it is worth the weight
Great review with a lot of good options. On the point made by others about carrying a ''real tool'', I looked into this myself and found a couple of good options for pocket carry. For pouch/kit/bag carry there are a ton of stubby ratcheting screwdrivers out there with bit storage in the handle, by Wera and Wiha for example, or without bit storage in the handle, I bought a nice little Anex (Japanese brand) ratcheting stubby, which comes with a double ended slotted/PH2 (JIS) bit and is compatible with all 1/4 in / 6.3mm bits and extenders, but these stubbies aren't really suitable for pocket carry for me at least. The Wera 813 is about the size of a Bic lighter at just over 3 in long (78mm to be precise) and is the smallest Wera bit driver handle, very light, but pretty high quality and capable for it's size. Fits nicely into the 5th pocket of jeans. Costs around $10 in the US. Another one but it's a bit larger and weightier, but still easily pocketable, is the Hazet 810BHK which has a locking mechanism, again in the US you can get them for around $10. Finally the Sabrecut Mini Ratchet is very pocketable at under 4 inches and has an inline bit holder too. Also sold under the Sealey brand here in the UK. Although this one isn't a ''top'' quality brand like PB Swiss, Anex, Wera, Hazet etc. it's still probably just as good quality as the Topeak or Oknife products, and dare I say it better quality than CRKT driver, or the Lever Gear Bitvault.
Wolf tooth is a mountain biking component brand. They make all sorts of neat stuff. This bit driver should also hold a master link for chains on the inside somewhere.
One great little EDC screwdriver that I bought earlier this year that I don't see a lot of people talking about is the Strikerbit from a company called Microcarry, I think you should definitely check this one out, it is compact and has a lot of functionality for its size. Let me know if you ever get around to it. Great video and content!
I'm excited for this one. I'm using the fixitsticks at the moment and for a couple months now and love it. Show me something comparable and I'll give it a try.
@@maxlvledcenjoy all of your videos and find them very informative. You have turned me onto several purchase in the last year or more and always looking forward to your latest videos. Side question?! I have managed to break the clip on my acebeam pokelit and was wondering if you may have a suggestion for replacement?
I keep a PB Swiss insider (PB 6464) in a Maxpedition Micro. Fits perfectly and is seriously small. It the same footprint as the Knipex cobra 125s (aside from depth which is about the same as a Sofirn edc flashlight. Surprised it isn't mentioned more. Stores 8 bits inside too. Love it! It may even be smaller than the stubby you mentioned both in length and thickness.
Great job! How did I miss this video when it came out? I LOVE the 711L Lollipop. Perfect pocket screwdriver for me. I don't need the onboard storage as the Steinwhale bit kit is so small and well marked. Those Steinwhale bits fit perfectly in the Lollipop.
PB Swiss 6464 is still my jam. Can’t say the ratcheting adds much to the subby and the regular PB Swiss stubby is really light, but I like the handle material on the 6464. Been trying to carry my curl, but I just find it too heavy a lot of the time so I carry one of my benchmades and the only screwdriver I have is the tiny one on my jet setter (modified with the light from a signature light).
You always find the coolest little things especially that little ratchet don't think I've seen one that small before. All of them are cool I could buy all of them have to find a reason to use them lol
For a dedicated “traditional” pocket screwdriver, you have to try the PB Swiss Tools PB-6464. No frills. Amazing quality Holds 8 of the highest quality 1/4” bits on the market And the handle smells like vanilla
Hey Dom, have you seen the Nite Ize KMTRT-11-R3 DoohicKey? It's super affordable and you can throw it onto your keys, plus it has an integrated ratchet in it and comes with two bits slotted and phillips.
Great video and nice selection of screwdrivers. I have the Hoto and really like it for knife maintenance. I'm a sucker when it comes to neat tools, must do more research! Subscribed
Have you ever tried the Vim Tools HBR3? I ended up trying it from some old guy that came up and I was using my multitool pliers and a bit to tighten a car alternator screw and he gave me the wrench and told me to put my bit in it and I was able to use the ratchet side to snug the screw and then the box end to tighten the screw really tight. He said since I was helping someone and I scratched up my knuckles, just keep the wrench. It's an amazing bit wrench.
Ol reliable for me is either the milwaukee fastback 6 in 1 or the leatherman removable bit adapter that i use with my modded Surge that has the supertool's phillips driver. Both are great because they take standard 1/4" bits, leatherman flat bits, or wiha double sided bits (which is my edc preference). Also a special shout out to the BID EDS 2 and their Bit Bar Inline.
Great video, thank you! I wonder whether the 711L Mini Ratchet Wrench (normal one, without the flat end for Leathermans) works well with the Leatherman bits. I want to have the lightest combination: Leatherman bits with the smallest screwdriver. Will they work together?
PB Swiss is great build quality and is probably the best brand of tools I own. There are some good one from Wera that I really like too. I believe they have a stubby ratchet version that carries bits and is more compact than the PB Swiss.
I like to see a number 2 Phillips bit with a precision screwdriver. Klein tools makes the bit and harbor freight has it also. I wish some of these In the video had precision number #2 bits .
Countycomm (Maratac) makes a nice titanium one that's a little larger but still pocketable as well as a very compact technicians pocket screw driver for smaller applications.
Such a nice selection, but you had mentioned in the past that you use WorkSharp sharpener/screwdriver combo quite a while and now its not in the video. Something went wrong? Looking forward to see separate video on pocket-friendly stuby ratchet screwdrivers.
Man… if a company would come out with a full 1/4” ratcheting bit driver, like the Leathmen but with a ball detent, they would make a fortune. Just sayin…
Why would anybody ever use precision bits? (except if your job calls for them) I’ve had the same set for 50 years and only used one once. I absolutely loved the Hoto screwdriver set, the innovation and quality looks great, but for a tool I can’t ever see the need for… In everyday life and for edc they seem totally pointless. The Victorinox bit wrench with 10 onboard bits plus a small tin I carry with around 40 more 1/4” inch bits covers anything I’m likely to come across in real life, Phillips, pozidrive, standard flats, torx, Allen keys. Really baffles me why people edc precisions🤷🏻♂️🤔
I think my guess is that most folks who are carrying these types of items everyday, are knife and/or gun enthusiasts or are complete geeks with some amount of crossover between the lists obviously. I think we all carry the bits that we need in any given scenario along with a few other popular sizes just in case. But if I need a full size screwdriver and/or larger bit, odds are I'm going to my toolbox for that. Simply because, that is the right tool for the job.
The Hoto drivers are less likely to roll than the Workpro drivers, but I like the knurling on the WorkPro. The bit insert/holder seems to come out too easily on both. The PB Swiss drivers with the full size handle do have play.
Surprised no mention of the Clip and Carry Bitlockr, a case and handle for the Leatherman flat bit set. Tidies the whole thing while having a socket at the ready.
@@maxlvledc yeah it’s not great if you crank on them, but in terms of bits per gram or per CC, it’s tough to beat. For me it’s intended to be there to get me out of a jam, not replace a full size tool.
@@thedownwardmachine see and I don't make a habit out of buying products just to get me out of a jam. If this is something I'm going to carry every day, I'm going to use it everyday. To that end, I want a reliable tool in pocket to do the job so that I don't have to go get a better one in the middle of a project.

A good one to add to this list is the opinel #9 diy, it has a magnetic bit holder in the end and storage for 2 bits on board.

The leatherman ratchet driver extension fits really well into the Fixit stick holder. Game changer.
Except that the Leatherman ratchet extension is almost never in stock and craps out on anything more than like 10lbs of torque.
All neat but the best of the best is the Klein tools 10 fold. No gimmics, give it hell, it'll always be there for you.
Thanks! Just looked this up on Amazon here in Germany. Looks like a winner!
