If you can't get them to interact, the most likely cause is the rigid body collision shape/source. I have mine set to 'mesh' for the shape and 'base' for the source on both objects, but if that isn't working for you try the other source options.
All options don't work it keeps acting like there's an object in the way It doesn't even collide with the cloth without rigid body I do have the collision on I don't know what to do
I was looking for a way leave an indentation on a human figure on a mattress, I knew i needed to mess around with physics but I would have newer guessed if it wasn't for your tutorial that I need cloth, collision and rigid inactive body all in one object to accomplished that. It could still use some adjustments but your video helped a lot. Thank you!
Great tutorial content bro, can you do more vids related to cloth and rigid body interactions? On internet almost nobody do this kind of videos. Thanks
This doesn't work because it uses the original plane's shape, not the deformed shape from the cloth sim. It only appears to work because he sets the inner collision margin of the plane to about the same distance that the cloth sags down from its initial position. If the box was dropped on the edge of the cloth it would penetrate the cloth and not roll down to the center as expected.
Can't you see that your method doesn't work? Before you apply the cloth modifier to the plane, make the plane larger and make more subdivide(еo make the fabric sag more in the simulation) Turn on the shadows in the viewport and see that the objects are not touching each other
exactly!!! the cube interacts with the INITIAL stiff object and not with the cloth version of it. If the cloth material bended more down it would be clearly visible!!!
It feels like you are answering I question I posted on a previous video so thank you. May I suggest though to move your blue light backward so that it's just a rim light, that blue on your face results weird and annoying.
Nice instructions.... Sometime ago I was thinking how to do this kind of stuff using rigid bodies in blender and cloth of MarvelDesigner (never got to a conclusion LOL)
Really great instructions, concise and well described. And a little strange, seeing someone showing "three" with the middle three fingers. ;-) For some reason, when I try it, I don't even get the active object (ball/cube) to move into the sunken cloth center, it lays straight at Z=0, where the plane is. Settings are 'mesh' and 'base', but it doesn't work with the other settings, either.
I had the same problem. Blender is great but the settings are all over the place, and this combined with a cache that didn't seem to be deleting properly means I have been struggling. e.g. I make a change, no difference, but then I figured it wasn't because the change was ineffective it was because Blender was still using the previous cache. Currently my sphere IS sinking to the level of the cloth, but I am still not sure which setting it was! Also, mesh and base for the sphere, sensitivity margin 0.02, but your issue could lie with the cloth settings somewhere.
The video gets it wrong, the cloth is meant to be set to 'active'. He mistakenly thinks in the video that the massive gap is because of collision margins, it's not, it's bouncing off the cloth at z=0 because it's set to passive.
Hi, I was wondering if you do zoom paid calls. or have any suggestions: I have some question on curves ( acting ass hair) and deformer mesh " cage" mesh. to then add cloth or soft body to that cage mesh, and in turn a mesh deformer to the curve geo. to make the curve "hair" move and deform, . also the main part is a collision object ( head) to not have the hair pass into the head.
sir, when using and rendering in blender, my gpu( rtx 3070) performance is only 15 to 20% and the cpu (ryzen 5 3600) performance is 100% how can I get maximum performance from my gpu please help
The task manager does not read the utilization of GPU correctly, so you are probably fine. Make sure you have the GPU enabled in preferences though :-)
he's not even trying to really educate, only people that already know how to do this understands it, look how FAST you see a little glitch when he said "turn on physics tab" and uses a hot Key without actually showing how he changed his mesh 0:58 Anyone new trying to follow along (like me) can't switch cause i don't know wtf he did

If your cloth keeps falling, make sure to assign the Pin Group (while in Edit Mode). Mr Cheebs does this at 0:53 but doesn`t mention it.
I subconciously read your comment, went into my simulation and spend an hour and a half trying to figure out why my cloth kept falling
Always wondered how to do this. Thanks!

That would be lot easier with dynamic paint.

Wonderful
Thanks! Direct to the point! ^^
I don't know why but I cant get it to work in 3.0 beta
thank u it helped out alot
Thank you !!! first 29 seconds made it

Thank you a lot, that is actually the right way!
thanks sir, this was super helpful - especially the part about setting the base source setting.

Hello, so how do I make it such that the object will deform the cloth?
I LIKED IT ALOT! THANK YOU. PS SORRY FOR SHOUTING... IVE HAD TOO MANY COFFEES AND PICKES!
wait, that's illegal!
Great explanation!
Exactly what I've been looking for. Thanks!
Excellent
is there a way to make rigid body and soft body interact too ? I working on a pendant slide down on a chain.
Getting some intense chromostereopsis effects with the colour grading in this video. It's interesting, I like it.
How do you use a dynamic mesh? (in the second tutorial I think you used a dynamic mesh to push the box but I can't do that)
It feels like you are answering I question I posted on a previous video so thank you. May I suggest though to move your blue light backward so that it's just a rim light, that blue on your face results weird and annoying.
Thanks for the advice!
i wonder why this vid didnt get much views cuz ive been looking to do this for a while

We need a rigid body hanging on the cloth!!!!

thumbnail material hurt my eyes xD
Is it just me or is the mouth not synced with the voice
its not working the cube doesnt fall on the cloth it stayz on z=0
You looks half avatar. Cool!!
Nice tutorial. Now I know that blender has NO way of correct interaction between rigids-cloth-particles-fluids etc.

how to do this in unreal engine?

he switches from edit mode to object mode. No one is going to tell you how to use the basic interface, blender official channels have that covered.
