    Didn’t hear it mention but before you go through all this with the deck, be sure all the tires are inflated to the right pressure. Nothing worse than doing all this measuring just to realize you had a low tire and have to fix it all again

      I think you are right I did not realize I forgot to mention that. I’m going to put that in my first comment. Thanks

    The knob on my ZT2 says it should be 4.5inches in the top setting, so i just cut 2 pieces of 2x4 exactly the same then adjusted the deck till the blades just touch the top of the 2x4's. Then I turn the blades and make the front to back setting so it's just over the 2x4.. that way my height setting is actually correct because i mow at different heights depending on the amout of rain we are getting and how late in the season it is.. just my 2 cents..

    My deck was horribly out of whack either from the factory or final assembly by the dealer I don't know. Thanks to this video I was able to adjust it and now have a cut I can live with. It was so bad though. Thanks again!

    I just bought a zl1. The deck is all jacked up on it. Front of it is way high. Like a kinder Gardener assembled it! To set my cut height do I measure the outside side of the Deck to obtain 2 inches when my dial says two? Or do I use the cutting edge of the blade⁉️

    • @DIYJIM
      @DIYJIM  Рік тому +1

      The cutting edge

    You might check your tire pressure in both tires to make sure their the same before adjusting for 1/8"

    I want to know if it will goto 4.5 inches? That's what u set the dial at 4.5 for the blade height...but it measures 4 inches...mine is set for 4.5 but measures only 4 inch. Thanks!!!

    Whoever assembled and welded my deck didn't finish weld on of the adjusters and it was just hanging loose when I removed the deck to clean it and swap to mulching blades.
    I wish I had noticed that while it was under warranty.

    I have a question. Since the deck height was set at 4.5 inches before you started, wouldn’t you try to get the blade height to equal 4 1/2 inches or close to it? It’s an honest question as I am trying to Level my mower right now and want to make sure it’s right. Thanks again.

    • @DIYJIM
      @DIYJIM  8 місяців тому

      I guess you could level it than check to see if the heights match the dial. Thanks for watching

    What is the reason when you`re one end of the blade is higher than the other end

    • @DIYJIM
      @DIYJIM  Рік тому

      Because the front of the deck should be lower than the rear.

    I just found your videos and I really like the content! I think you should look into a GoPro with chest mount. It can add a new angle to your videos and make it easier to explain what your doing in a smaller space.

    Is 1/8th of an inch off really that bad? l think it'll be ok and would not make any adjustment. That's close enough.

    I know this is about leveling the deck, BUT how about coming up with something that can be attached to deck pedal, so I can use my hands? Can you come up with a mod?
    Why? Because I’m disabled and cannot use my feet to push the pedal, but can still drive a ZT1 54. Plus, think about older folks out there mowing…not everyone can push pedals.
    Had a RTZ 50 with deck adjustment under the seat, that was easy…what was Cub Cadet thinking?
    Never mind, lowest common denominator to sell them I suppose.
    Anyway, you’re a very helpful guy, so maybe you could invent something? If you do, pen me in for buying one…. 😎

    Why not use a 1x2 or other small short stick and hold it against the blade. Then use a pencil to mark where the blade hits the stick. Measure that and you got your height. HA! I commented before I saw your homemade measuring device.

      A paint stir stick from the hardware store if you don't have a 1x2 piece of wood. Cheaper than buying a 1×2 and easier to mark on.
