Heavy Metal Rules Seen Priest in 2009. Still the best band I've been to see. The sound was so clear and Rob was on top form. I wasn't expecting much from them, they were touring with Testament and Megadeth, and I was there for latter mainly. Priest kicked their ass. The crowd was so excited by them. Hope they come back here on the Firepower tour.
I feel badly for them too. This is the sweet spot period. If they have to go back 35 years then so be it. The fact is, Priest today is nowhere near this performance. I was 22 when this tour was out. Look at KK's playing. He is a Metal God.
EJ W Yeah, this is hard to top. I love Maiden, Sabbath, AC/DC, the greats, and I wouldn’t want to do without any of them, but you can’t hear this and not consider Priest as good as anybody anywhere.
Seeing live performances like this is for flabbergastingly amazing! The level of dedication needed to achieve this level of precision is so uncommon in all but the finest shows. This is on a level up there with world class Opera, ballet, etc. Some of the finest performances seen in my lifetime. Maybe ever! Thank you JP!!!!!
I had this on vhs tape back in the day, the whole concert; taken from a show in Tennessee on the "Vegeance" tour in 1982. This song made me worship KK. As the Ripper did the same to me for Glenn.
I saw Priest for the 1st time Nov. 1, 1979 at the Triangle Theatre in Rochester, NY. I was with 2 of my buddies and we each took 2 hits of acid before the show. The venue allowed the audience to get right up to the stage so we wrestled our way up and stood right in front of K.K. Downing the whole show. During some of his solo's, K.K. came over to us and would kneel down and let us touch his guitar and whammy bar while he was playing the solo. Totally blew our minds! After the show as we were walking out my one buddy ran his hands through his hair(it was 1979 we all had long hair back then) and low and behold he found one of K.K.'s picks. Needless to say, it was a special night in our young lives. I've been hooked on the band ever since.
I remember that this show was on HBO back in the 80's. I had my father record it on Betamax. I was mesmerized by the whole show. I was 14 years old at that time. I wish I still had that tape even though I do have a DVD of the show.

Was lucky enough to actually see this tour in 1982. Feel bad for kids now having to watch 35 year old concerts to get real metal. But it may be that Priest and Halford were 1 in a 100 year talent. I am starting to think so. Have not seen anyone in my life exceed or even match them yet.
Me neither!
I'm from 1999 and I don't mind watching 35 years ish old clips if they are amazing and that ome just is pure Priest magic!
Love it!
EJ W Yeah, this is hard to top. I love Maiden, Sabbath, AC/DC, the greats, and I wouldn’t want to do without any of them, but you can’t hear this and not consider Priest as good as anybody anywhere.
I just saw KK's Priest this past weekend; September 2024. KK Downing is still incredible live; he played an extended solo version of Sinner.
The greatest heavy metal live performance of all time!
Thank the powers that be that this show was captured on film ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I had this on vhs tape back in the day, the whole concert; taken from a show in Tennessee on the "Vegeance" tour in 1982. This song made me worship KK. As the Ripper did the same to me for Glenn.
Metal Gods! Period!
Totally!
Such a great version of this song. They KILLED IT!
Wow, in 82 I was working on my first trip to drug and alcohol rehab. Sober many years now and enjoy the music and performance of JP more than ever.
Just can't get over the precision of this entire band! I'm a musician never seen it equaled anywhere else. Rob is out of his mind GREAT!!
I remember that this show was on HBO back in the 80's. I had my father record it on Betamax. I was mesmerized by the whole show. I was 14 years old at that time. I wish I still had that tape even though I do have a DVD of the show.
Prime priest.
Halford incredible.
Band also on top their game
PS.
Listening to KK solo i hear a future Influence on Slayer.
KK Downing is fucking awesome...and the rest too...this is so good
