We always travel with a pouch full of different medicines - ibuprofen, tums, dramamine, etc. Also a medical kit with bandaids, gauze, etc. We have two young kids so best to be prepared.
Thanks for the tips! I’m about to go on a 2700 mile road trip across the bottom of the US and back from LA to Florida and this was a great video. Two things that might also be good to keep with you are:
1) TT - 30 connector for your Tesla mobile connector. In case of emergency or if you need to charge at an RV park that’s old-school the TT-30 will work the harder to find then the other ones but they are what RV parks use a lot,
2) you mentioned going through touchless car washes. I do that, and as many people always mention, the black, trim of the Tesla can get spotted or rainbow. When you use the touchless car washes because of the extra chemicals they use in their soap to keep the car clean without brushes. I always carry stainless steel cleaning wipes, so I can wipe off the black trim and keep it looking black.
Those are just two things. I also carry with me that you didn’t mention. Thanks again, Branden!
Really useful stuff to have - I learnt a lot.
Many thanks.....All the way from London !
Great tips!
Love your model Y videos. Keep it up!
Very informative video, but for my road trips it’s a waxing/polishing on the front end and a Modern Spare in the trunk. As much as I’m enjoying my MYLR it’s just a car to me.
The tire repair kit is a really good idea! I will get myself one and learn how to use it as most cars these days do not have a spare tire.
Ha! Two cords for two people. Just in case “We” comes along! 😂. Heading south to FL myself in a few days in a Model Y.
I’ve only ever needed the tesla mobile charger with the regular and Nema 14-50 adapters. However I always have my chademo and ccs adaptors and will use them to opportunity charge occasionally.
If I’m camping or know I’ll be near a campsite I’ll bring along the TT- 30 adaptor but that’s about it.
In 6 years and over 150,000 miles I’ve never needed to use it, but keep an extension cord and have a Nema 14-50 extension cord at home as well for visitors to use.
The one thing everyone needs is AAA especially since they are expanding their mobile charging network on the east coast finally
I found wearing driving shoes are so comforable on long trips. A looked at piloti, but bought Puma motorsport speedcat.
Brandon hope to see you in Minnesota you missed first aid kit and fire extinguisher
Those 3DMaxPider mats are awesome. I had a set in my 2018 Honda Clarity. They still looked new after 3.5 years of use.
I'm a big fan of them
They're always out of stock. And not just for Tesla.
What's funny is that is about what I carry in my vehicle just for my daily commute. :)
Me too, but most people don’t 🤷♂️
Enjoyed the vid. Future request: your data acquisition set up, apps, procedures and analysis. thx
Good idea!
Show us the temporary PPF film!! You briefly mentioned in a previous video, but never really went into detail about it. Tell us how inexpensive it is, and how a few strips across the nose of my Tesla can make bugs not a problem once I get to my destination.
Do you remove and reapply the trackwrap? We pick our y up today then have a nj to nc & nj to disneyworld roadtrip coming up (before i can get to ppf)
One thing I plan to take on my trip is a small collapsible plastic stool. Reason is I’m only 5ft 2in and I find it impossible to clean the windshield w/o it. Thanks for your trip advise.
Makes sense! I’m 6’3” so not needed
I can't overstate enough how important it is to carry glass cleaner. Even before I had an EV I was filming road trip videos so I frequently cleaned the windshield. A good glass cleaner and a microfiber cloth are far better than most gas station squeegees.
I don't understand why so many people long for squeegees at charging stations instead of just carrying their own class cleaner & microfiber.
I totally agree. I never used gas station squeegees even before I had an EV.
Dryer sheets (Bounce) along with water will do a great job on bugs,
That sounds like a great way to get a lot of scratches
@@brandenflasch Wow! Really? This actually works. I lived in Florida where we had Love Bugs and a lot of other bugs that would end up on bumpers and on the front of my 12' high 5th wheel. I learned this from RVers. I use this during a normal wash. Wash first then while the car is still wet dunk the dryer sheet soapy or plain water and gently rub in circles. Move from one side of the bumper to the other and go over it again. It may require a few passes The bugs will dissolve as you go. You can use new sheet or one that had been used in the dryer. Unless you are a moron the result is scratchless.
@@bullseyenot There is no way that’s not adding tons of microscratches
The wireless charging pad in the Tesla is really just taking up space. I never use it for the same reasons you mentioned. It's slow and it overheats your phone.
I wish Tesla had more than just one 12v outlet, I use several different things that require a 12v.
I have a 12V splitter like this one: amzn.to/3O7q2AC
100% agreement with you on the wireless charging pads. I noticed my OnePlus 8Pro was getting very warm when I rented a Model Y from Hertz in Portland, plus it was charging VERY slowly compared to a USB-C cable.
@@brandenflasch Thanks!
@@mowcowbell It would be a good place for storage or something. Otherwise it's just a bunch of unused space.
It isn’t just Tesla induction chargers that make phones hot, I don’t use the charger pad inside my Mini’s arm rest for the same reason.
really good video. just one question. if you had to use tyre puncture kit how far you can go till you get a new tyre. one of my friend told me about a glue tube to put in the tyre . Have you ever used it . Thanks . I am in Australia and we little behind in EV and charging station etc. but there are lot more EVs around now than what we had 6 months ago.
If you use the plug kit properly, it’ll last indefinitely until you need a new tire
Any recommendations on a good spare tire?
Modern spare! They also come wirh the kit
First time I have ever seen a cross eyed werewolf !!!!
Try doing LiquidIV instead of Gatorade. Way better for you. Plus you could reach out for a sponsor spot.
Had any issue with radar detector mount so far? I had similar but the 3M adhesive on the metal rings/plates have started to come off with summer heat…
No issues at all
If you're still having that problem, look for a few packets of "3M Adhesion Promoter."
Since you don’t have a spare, do you think a tire slime kit would be helpful vs the tire plug?
Nope, those are almost always useless
Tesla (at least historically) provides a tire pump and slime kit in alll new vehicles since they don’t provide a spare. But a tire plug usually works just as well or better than slime
@@brianandix Not included anymore. They still sell it though.
Every road trip for me starts with a wash and full interior detail. Every…..single….time🤘
Why?
@@JohnBarber because clean is good. Who wants to road trip in a dirty car...not that mine really ever is
@@teslatim78 my car is never really dirty; I keep trash cleaned up and such; but cleaning every crevice just to drive a few hundred miles where the car is bound to get dirty again anyway doesn't seem like a good use of time to me.

@@JohnBarber I don't do a deep clean like that lol
Branden, I thought in some of your older videos you had a drone that you would fly while charging, or was that just Brian Rbe? I'm thinking of getting one, but I would really like some opinions from people that have had them first.
Yes, I have one! Can’t really go wrong with DJI
@@brandenflasch Thanks! I'll start my research there. I hope to run into you while you're here in MN this week.
Only thing really is just need those jack pucks for the car and you would be set.
Branden, by now do you wish that you had bought a Model Y Long range? Also do you think your 4680 structual battery back makes for a more solid car?
Generally speaking you should always buy as much range as you can afford because you can always do other upgrades but cannot often upgrade the battery capacity
Did I miss the air pump?
Yes, but it’s linked in the description
You’re car is my favorite
Thank you
What do you use for Video editing?
Final Cut Pro
@@brandenflasch thanks;
Hey Branden, I strongly suggest a clear plastic ‘piss bottle.’ One can get one at their local hospital - for free if you know what I mean. My wife who’s a nurse suggested it when we bought our Tesla Model 3 Performance and I’ve used it many, many times while on a road trip! Cheers!
Hard pass. I’ll take a few minutes to stop.
@@brandenflaschnot worth the time savings. Just piss in a plastic bottle Branden.
Also, hit up Walmart and get some adult sized diapers so you can also go boomboom while driving saving TONS of minutes.
Are those scratches on the outside of your car?
Temporary PPF - getting professional PPF in Minnesota which is partially the reason for the road trip
@@brandenflaschWhy all the way in Minnesota? Nobody local?

your TeslaFi Referral Link - 30 day trial instead of 14 day does not work

I really appreciate you pointing this out though!!
TeslaFi Referral Link is still only showing a 14 day trial, not the 30 day you mention.
@@davejones5703 hmm, it might not show but just do it?
Those sunglasses are annoying af. Otherwise ok vid.
What makes them "annoying af"?
"Where the driver is going to spend the most amount of time." Really, where else is the driver going to be but behind the steering wheel? If they aren't behind the wheel, they aren't the driver.
Looks more like you're just trying to peddle your sponsored products. You don't need a radar detector if you just don't break the law by speeding!
Most of these products I had in my car day 1 and purchased myself
Brandon remember the Uniden R7 you can use it for checking elevation and your 12 volt battery more than a radar detector.
Of course he is, gotta get the clicks to earn any sort of revenue…
