I bought the TCL C855K a couple of days ago, and has taken some time to calibrate it back to how I like it from my Previous LG. The sound is good at higher volumes, but I was expecting more bass from the subwoofer, but I have the TV running with my surround set up now using it to boost vocals, etc, and this works great The brightness is a bit irrelevant, really, as it just blows the picture out. One other annoying thing is that every time I change the input, it keeps putting the brightness setting back down!! (Edit, this is now sorted) Need to look into this further. The contrast adjustment seems to work as an additional brightness setting weirdly. You can adjust the sound for virtual surround, extra bass, extra vocals, and more, and it is worth doing to give it more punch. Gaming on the PS5 looks fantastic, so very happy with that and much better than my old LG, But when you run 4K sample vids in Dynamic, It just looks INCREDIBLE!! Boy does it POP and Blacks look superb with no blooming, My old LG only had 78 dimming zones so blooming was bad, Very bad! But not anymore 🙂 I did find that when using WIFI for streaming 4K content via Disney/Netflix etc the picture looked a little soft. ( I have 1 GIG BB) This has been made better by using a dedicated Ethernet connection. Still doesn't look as sharp as the LG but that had super resolution also. HDR looks insane in movies and games. Overall Very pleased with the set especially for the price I do not think it can be beaten for the size of it. Normal TV looks just the same as my old 6yr old TV so Upscaling is still crap, There is no way any of it especially HD channels 1080p look any where near 4K. But can highly recommend this tv. It honestly looks like an oled with more brightness. Loving it and beats tvs twice it's price.
Thanks for your in depth insight and for sharing your experience. I found the all the TVs mentioned here to be great option but in particular the TCL to be one to go for. The blacks is close to OLED and the brightness is insanely amazing. You mentioned colour washed out, you either select adaptive or turn down the brightness manually. Which size did you go for?
@APTechs I got the 65" and managed to pretty much sort it all now, and the picture and hdr is just amazing. Truly shocked at the black levels and no blooming that has jumped out at me yet. Would take this over Oled now for the brightness, and now blacks are so great. Bargain of a tv.

Dude, forget the claimed numbers on watt's. that does not mean anything when it comes to soundquality. you dont know anything about the material/quality of the speaker. a 20 watt speaker can outperform a 100 watt speaker. so that numbers are really not important. i have a little bluetooth speaker with 10 watts and that sounds waaaay better than my tv speakers which are claimed at 60 watts. another thing is... that numbers are mostly peak watt data. makes the numbers even more useless.

New TVs are set to run standard factory settings. These settings are not optimized for your home or your personal preferences, and that’s where TV calibration comes in. Since we do not know the real image, we cannot understand which one shows how accurately. As for the sound, the volume is of course an important criterion but the clarity of the sound, the ability to produce bass and treble sounds are much more important. So my vote is for LG.
Thank you for your comment and we will take onboard your feedback. I like how you have assessed based on the information to hand.
