Florida had the talent. Grantham is just an idiot and wanted to rush and teams kept running screen routes which allowed the other teams to get 10-20 yards nearly every 3rd down. Grantham called for rushing against Texas A&M, LSU, and Bama on almost every 2nd and 3rd down and after the 2 or 3 possessions they would start running screen routes and pick up large yardage runs every single damn time. He wouldn't cover the mid or back field and would run 1 - 1 blockers for receivers. All 3 games were so close, that if he had made better calls Gators would have been undefeated last year. We had the offense and defense talent and offense was holding their side up, but Grantham failed the defense with his pathetic play calling. Only reason we held in 2018 and the first 2 games in 2019 was the defense was stopping the other teams. Defense looked like crap against KY in 2019, but Trask started putting numbers up after Franks got hurt.

He was also a winner, take a peak at our all time winning coach list. That being said he took the next step of building a recruiting base in Florida and keeping Georgia prospects from G tech, a team you don't hate because you don't remember losing to them. He also won SEC titles as well. As I said Smart took the final step and I am happy he did. If not for Richt he would have had to take many more steps than he did. Anyone with a brain thinks Trask should of started. He played later that season against Mizzou and was lighting it up but got injured in that game I believe. The next season Franks got injured against Kentucky, and Trask led the team to a comeback win and one of Florida's greatest offensive seasons of all time.
