- Today Sports Dissected is welcomed to one of the best student-athlete facilities in the country, the Heavener Training Center at the University of Florida. Mainly used by the football program, the 140,000 square foot, $85M indoor training facility got it's name from a generous gift from Bill Heavener, a 1970 UF graduate. It features a massive workout area and locker room, dining rooms, therapy pools, an outdoor pool, basketball courts and a barbershop. Check out our full, in-depth tour on the Heavener!

Have you seen Florida Baseball’s new $65,000,000 stadium? → ua-cam.com/video/8AszfSCQjA8/v-deo.html
This is nice I think the treadmill pool is pretty cool, but there is also black mold in my dorm at UF. Kent Fuchs or Ben Sasse, if you see this comment, please spend a little more money on maintaining the old dorms or tearing them down.
Maybe writing administration a letter with a photo would help? Sorry to hear that, and thanks for watching!
@@SportsDissected lol its always been like that, they making new dorms tho so we got a bit of time b4 the mold comes into those ones. Only thing that could rlly change the mold is the student gov't but they keep picking the frat ppl who don't rlly help with mold/academics
Get a bottle of clorox and spray it. Mold will die off. Just keep the window ventilated for an hour at least.
I'm not the accountant, but to my understanding, the problem is the majority of the funding did not come from the UF bankroll. Citing the Independent Florida Alligator (a local paper), "The development was primarily funded through booster contributions and revenue generated by the University Athletic Association. Those UAA revenues are used to fund UAA projects like the Heavener Center." Sad to say the only way for you to have improved conditions is to get these mega-donors and/or the Florida legislature to fund maintenance and renovation projects.
You don't generate revenue for the university
The treadmill in the pool is dope af. Since Sports Dissected has done a lot of UF facilities I really hope they finish with UF's Track & Field. They have been unstoppable in recent years.
Their track program has been pretty dominant...
@@SportsDissected please do it
@@Physical128 📝 noted!
@@SportsDissected do UF swim and dive as well
I'm proud to say I had a hand in making this facility as good as it is. Glad you enjoyed your time there. Awesome walkthrough - thanks for highlighting the building.
You unfortunately weren't able to show some of my other favorite spots: The executive suite has balconies that overlook the outdoor practice fields- very convenient. The film room has some really nice gator themed seating and tons of space. There is an on-site barber with Gator themed mosaic tiled floor. A "snack bar" allows players to easily refuel after workouts. The food services area provides truly excellent meals for the athletes and staff (they make a ham [hard boiled] egg and cheese muffin shaped thing that is amazing). There is a wall dedicated to many of the Gator helmets throughout the many decades - a really cool display. So many nice details - it's hard to condense it down.
Really nice! Makes me wish I was in Gainesville. And 30 years younger. And a talented athlete.
Same here!
Real talk
This was incredibly cool and you can tell that UF is proud of the facility. I really found it interesting how much access and info they gave you all. Most schools seem to run you guys through the basics and it’s just one assistant athletic director doing the whole tour. Getting to talk with the AD and each guy that is most familiar with every part of the facility was super interesting and shows how excited UF was to have you all in the building. Props to them for that
This puts the ‘state’ in state of the art facility. Top notch!
There are very nice study rooms in there. I'm glad that they prioritize academics like being able to read before graduating college.
Unlike Auburn the University of Florida does not offer coloring books to student athletes.
Based
No one using these fucking rooms lol
I am a current student at UF
Our school clubs have gotten all our budgets cut due to no funds and the classes have had their budgets cut to the point where half of my assignments last semester had to be thrown out because they didn't have the money to hire TA's to grade the assignments for everyone. Also students have been wanting 24/7 libraries for the longest time and all of this has been denied due to the student government continuing to state that we have no money as they pay tens of thousands of dollars to "TikTok influencers" to come and talk for an hour on campus. And the fact they spend tens of millions on this shit on top of all the previous things should tell you all you need to know about "prioritizing academics"
Who cares about their grades? They're athletes, not astronauts
been waiting years for this
Go 🐊
Wow! Incredible facility. Back in the day when my daughter played high school basketball, we attended a tournament at UF. We were fortunate enough to visit the basketball facility which was very cool as UF was only recently removed from a couple of national championships.
It's about time for y'all to take a trip to Athens and visit the back to back natty champs. Unless UGA isn't up for it. 🤔
Wow, that is $60,000 in student loan debt per square inch!
This is an amazing video! We're proud that our beautiful Goodwin Company Wood is featured on the walls of the dining hall. With a spotlight and shout-out at 3:37 - 3:47.
OU fan here but I love watching this series. Facility is dope 🫡
Dope!!!!! That’s great for the Trainers and Staff to really take care of their Student Athletes! Well Done! 👌🏾
Great that all athletes have access. Recruiting tool for every program.
Reason why I love youtube. Short, sweet, and to the point.
Thanks for this!!!🙏🏾
this was a well done video, and UF nailed it! Thanks for this
Thanks for watching!
Go Gators!!!! Build the culture. Excellence always. This is the program that created Wilbur Marshall and Emmett Smith.
Foundation and facilities are important!
Wilber
Y’all keep the UF content coming. Happy new year 🙌🏾💯🐊
Hope you have enjoyed it. Happy New Year!
Love these videos!!
Been waiting for this to drop!
Go Gators! 🐊
Awesome, Much Needed if you want to Compete with the top sport programs in the Nation.,Love It, Go Gators.
Thats amazing and huge! Love It!
This is beautiful facility
By far the best content on UA-cam!
We appreciate you! Who do you want to see next?
I’m a University of Cincinnati alum, so I’m a bit biased🤣you guys did a tour of our basketball facilities a couple of years ago. You should do a review of our football program, as we transition to the Big 12 for next season.
I would also be interested in some interviews with personnel on how they got their start working in these athletic departments. I work in procurement for the US Air Force, and it would be my dream job to couple procurement/contracts with sports.
been waiting so long for this
Go Gators!
So much for treating students who play sports just like other students.
like the average student can bring in millions a year
@@thienpham1939 if only that were true
That’s because other students ain’t special
@@thienpham1939 So pay them already. Isn't it a little ridiculous that they have the money for this extravagance but then claim that they can't pay the players who bring in those millions?
@@dasimon123 because they don’t have the money. College athletics are funded by tuition student fees. These facilities are built by the funding of alums donations. Yes college athletics result in billions dollars of revenue generated. Key word there is revenue not expenses, which is also billions. Which leaves little profit. College athletics is known to have large or small deficits. Which means there in debt. Which is the American way.
Simply amazing 😳
Love this stuff.
Any More UF vids? I have been loving this
Maybe...
One of the best facilities I’ve seen 💯
INSANEEEE. What a great job
It is an awesome place!
This is so dope. Happy to say im a Florida Gator,
Another amazing quality video! Please do FSU football next if possible.
Thanks for watching!
FSU's football-only facility just broke ground last month and won't be completed for another ~2yrs.
I'm in Tallahassee Florida still gator nation Florida State thought they did big when they stopped a main flow of traffic back in the day Pensacola street to make there football field bigger that was a bridge that ran in between football and baseball field years later made the indoor practice facility in-between the football and baseball field there running out of space while famu Rattlers hbcu trying to grow as well not even a mile away from them and city on fsu side so maybe more traffic flow stopped for them again is only way
Why would any athlete not want to be in that place it's awesome definitely brought &F into modern era fantastic. Facilities .
That was super nice. Could you possible take a tour of the Purdue University football facility?
My man rockin the 13’s. That’s what I like to see.
These athletes can't complain that they don't get anything. These campuses literally have everything you could want
Now that everything is finished it looks great.
Yes it does! Thanks for watching!
Neat and all, but where is this level of appreciation for all the other students? Especially medical/healthcare/STEM students which comprise a huge chunk of the student body. I went to UF and graduated w/ a BSN and felt like second class citizen to the football players. They would get their own cafeteria, first row special seats for any class, and were given a little slap on the wrist if they got caught doing wrong. Treated like royalty. No wonder so many get into deep trouble after college. They’ve come to think their actions don’t have consequences.
Go Gators 🐊
Go Gators!
#1 facility
It would be awesome if you guys tour the K-State Facilties. They have a lot of brand new buildings!
👀 noted! Manhattan, KS sounds nice
i was waiting on this video
Wait no more! Thanks for watching.
Can we do uga football next? Also love the videos
Go Dawgs 👀
Yes, and make sure Kirby takes you on a tour through the money printing facility
Can you tour miami basketball and football when the new facility opens?
It's on our list! 📝
Y’all need to Do their basketball program as well now
When’s the Georgia tour?
As a fan of sneakers, I can't believe you covered this facility, went to the equipment room and there was no custom Florida retros🤷🏾♂️ haha
They have them just didn’t show it on the video… kinda odd.
There's an entire wall of custom Jordan shoes in the facility
Yes there is! Stay tuned for that to appear on our social pages.
@@SportsDissected I will check it out. I know for me as a fan of sneakers, there are some schools it seems the kicks get highlighted more than others. I'm a big Michigan fan and I thought those videos were perfect, I really appreciated that content. I know some people like to hear those unique stories.
Damn. Hopefully the regular students get a nice pool like that 😂
The cold room the ice box the cold Pool warm pool Massage chairs are beautiful
I was apart of the plumbing for this job, pretty dope

noted! 📝
My God, my daughter took out $10,000 just to get through the university of Florida, while these athletes live a life of Riley. Simply unbelievable
817 gator fan here
Go Gators! 🐊
The question is, with NIL now....Are power 5 schools like Florida going to stop building these crazy, expensive facilities to attract recruits because they have to give the players so much money now? It use to be a facilities race. Now I hear Jalen Rashida may not go to Florida because of his NIL deal. Not sure if there is any truth to that rumor. Or will coaches stop taking 100 million dollar contracts with crazy buyouts?
I think it’s a thing of where you have to have great facilities because everyone else has great facilities but no kid commits cause of facilities anymore
@@walkerallen124 The schools still are NOT paying the players. Why does nobody understand how NIL works. Also just like the above comment said, the other schools will keep upgrading so everyone else has to keep up regardless of NIL.
If NIL money was the factor he would have never left Miami to begin with lmao they literally have a billion bank rolling the entire football team, plus Jaden already signed his LOI he’s 100% committed to Florida. Believe it or not anyone can make up fake rumors on twitter.
Finally. Can’t wait to actually get a real coach.
Hell yeah dfw!!!!!
You have to do UCF after FSU! All the big football schools in the state!
We would love to!
crazy to think how much is spent on football when funding to other sections of the university are regularly cut
Did you guy do GEORGIA? They got a new $80 Million facility I hear it rivals Oregon
Go Gators!
WVU is by far the best facility this is nice though !
y'all gotta do ole miss next
It's on the list! 📝
Is it in a cotton field?
Yall need to go back to Texas Tech once the new renovations are completed for the football stadium
We take a peek over there every so often!
Can’t wait when you guys do the hurricanes in 7 year when the new facility is built
They're on our radar!
You should do Ohio State football tour next
I know Gainesville PD is going to be happy that they'll be able to easily find the players when they get arrest warrants.
y’all need to go to auburns new facility
U guys need tour a Canadian college football facility
🤔 what would you like to see specifically?
@@SportsDissected like a facility tour
@@SportsDissected don’t do it, there is not really anything to be seen, there isn’t anything to flex.
Are y’all going anywhere else or did you move to Gainesville lol
We had to make sure we did Florida justice haha. We're back on the road though. Which school would you like to see?
@@SportsDissected I’d say UGA
