Yakama Nation wants nearby state park to recognize ‘dark’ history

Washington state’s website for Fort Simcoe State Park highlights the military history of the park, but members of the Yakama Nation say there is a "dark" past.

growing up next to the res we spent a lot of time learning about the land and the land people who were born here. Unfortunately - not enough schools are doing this.

No. It's not taught in a lot of places because white parents don't want their kids to learn the truth. This is definitely true in a few school districts in WA.
