I`m a very happy owner of a 2014 model 30d. I'm at 213000kms and have spent 90 Euros on repairs. It's a great car. Still feels like new. The kids love it, and as soon as they are dropped off in daycare, I get my fun too. Absolutely mind-blowing experience. Never had a car this fast, its a real allrounder. We take it to the alps, go skiing, haul e-bikes and sometimes a trailer, yet it really looks good and it is a relatively small financial sacrifice when comparing it to a touring/stationwagon. The only thing I can think of besides the gas mileage is the cost of the 20 inch tyres (1200Euros for 4). Otherwise my local Toyota dealer wants 300 Euros for a Yaris maintenance service (yearly or 15tsd kms), BMW dealer want 550-700 Euros depending on what service you need, but every 2yrs or 35000kms. So expensive is really relative.... What I like about suvs is that I don't have to worry about curbs when parking. The split tailgate is definitely another very good feature: Even if the trunk is totally full, I can change shoes, change clothes and change nappies. And I can reverse near a wall or another car and can still open the back. Not planning on changing anytime soon.
Great ownership roundup Milo 👍 I drive fast cars all the time on the channel and I’m still impressed with the way it takes off even when I’ve got the wife, all 4 kids and the dog in the car with a full boot 👏
Not just a great dad car but for anyone who wants an excellent all rounder. I have a 2016 35i Individual and it does everything well in all situations. As for a faster X5, I have a stage 2 tune. Super quick, almost a sleeper.
I would say XC90 is quite up there. Except the lack of a 6 cylinder. There you can also get the PHEV as a 7 seater. But I’m also contemplating getting the X5 7 seater as well.
I totally agree about the middle row, I love the look of the X5 over most suv's but that middle seat is so narrow, so really it's a 6.5 seater. That's why if I had the money I'd go Q7 but if not I'd be happy with a grand picasso or pug 5008. Actually pisses me off that bmw don't offer the option of 3 proper seats, even Bentley offer it in the Benteyga which is the same platform as Q7 I know.
You talk about car park dinks and agree with your outlook. I made the mistake of giving the keys of my recently aquired E70 40d to a post partal wife. She promplty kerbed my 214 nearside alloy on the exit ofour local roundabout.I was mightily pissed off and realised that she probably had no sleep and shouldn't have offered the keys to her. Long a short was that I was able to touch up the gravel rash with some wheel silver, but felt remorseful that I didn't do the damage. It's weird as a petrolhead, you don't mind repairing if you know how to repair or spend the time or efford to do so. But I'm mindful who I now led my cars and toys to. If they can't appreciate what it means to who ever is letting you have it, or you can't afford to repair it, just don't! It's like that time when my neighbour's 5 year old opened the van door on the front wing, after I'd clayed and waxed it the day before. Had my wife not kerbed the wheels and that would have been the first battle scar, I would have lost it... but yeah, it's a interesting outlook. Cars like these are meant to be appreachated by the owner and just abused by everybody else.I defnitely wouldn't be seen dead an a council estate S-MAX, Galazy or VW Sharon Osbourne. My therapist once again confirmed why it's very difficult to be on the autism spectrum and hyper focusing on mechanical things.
i own an f15 50d, i was thinking to somehow raise the height of the two back seats so i wouldn’t need car seats for my kids back there, what do you think?
Oh nice! Bet that’s rapid! They are mini seats, I think when they are old enough for booster seats there will come a time when they are not required in the rear seats sooner… it’s tricky, I’ve got lots more child seat content coming this year so will take a deep dive on 7 seaters and seat options
I wish I could share your enthusiasm, however, as I live in Australia, none of the prices apply, sadly. Everything fancy is expensive here, and with a luxury car tax applying from a fixed threshold, that will remain so for a long time. X5s and 911s are all much of a muchness here, all being expensive luxury cars, none of what you have said makes them any more affordable.
Can you fit 3 child seats in the back without iso fix ? We’ve just had another addition to the family so there’s 5 of us now and my 1 series is too small lol
Yes you can, it’s not easy though. You can get a Multimac 3 across seat, or use a travel childseat in the middle of two other seats.. I show this in a few of my other videos
@@davidbrand5925 hi David, there will be one coming soon! Just been busy with too many exciting offers on other cars. It’s on my filming list for the next month of so
@@davidbrand5925 they are a similar situation as many of the +2 seats in the sports cars I review so I have a good belt secured child seat solution for them
Had to laugh when he said we need this for the children and the dog... Then I saw the size of the dog ... Think it would fit in the smallest vehicle on the road...

does your adblue system works well?
I highly recommend an Android retrofit infotainment system. You can reflect your phone's screen to watch YT etc. The little ones love this.

Currently running an X3 & 1 series. The new shape X5 is definitely on the radar. Love the look and size of them.
They are lovely looking SUVs aren’t they. Think the x3 is bigger than the original x5 now 😅
Loving your glamorous assistants 😎
Quality review - just round your page, love it!
Awesome! Glad you found us 😊
I have an 2007 and love it!

Super frustrating in cars this big! Got some more content on this kind of thing coming up next month 👍
Love this car 🚗 good quality and going to buy one for my birthday this year
So reliable as well 👏 brilliant cars
Would love to see a review of the MB GL or GLS....3rd row isofix for the win!
I’d absolutely love to! Not even started scratching the surface on exciting SUVs yet but hoping to get more on the channel soon 🤗
I feel you on the baby seats not fitting, as I'm absolutely friggin befuddled as to why I cant put my golf clubs in the trunk lengthwise.

Another good one 👍
Thanks man! Next week, up for a spin in the Aston?!
You need Apple CarPlay on this, try a MMI CarPlay box!!! First thing id do if owning an X5!

thanks for reply, i was just wondering what seat you had in the back row of your x5 when your daughter climbed in from the back!
Great video thanks
We have the 2010 & 2016 models. Would love a V8 one day.
I take it nospare wheel but can buy space saver for these? Also handling in snow. Suspect fitting all season tyres would help?
It has run flat tires, not personally driven it in the snow but I’m sure with the right tires it would get you from a-b just fine :)

Would love to see you test a Macan GTS/Turbo to see if they're actually any good as a Dadcar
I’ll see if I can get one lined up this year :)
Hi, can you move the middle seats forward, so there abit more leg room for third row passengers?
Yes you can
Did you ever tow with this thing?
Does the out n about fit with all the seats up?
Yeah if you stand it upright
So why you never showed space for 3rd row?
Valid point! I’m doing a follow up video that will cover this featuring a multimac in the new year
@@dadcars Was there another video in the end? It would be great to see whether the 3rd row could be used with car seats for toddlers etc.

Fantastic! Welcome 🤗 the videos are still interesting for checking rear seat practicality in general 😅

I’ve always loved the looks of the xc90, I’d love to feature one. Do they have the performance though?
@@dadcarsthe engine in the FIRST GENERATION (similar to BMW X5 e53/e70) was in part made by Yamaha. So yes, that big body v8 does indeed compete!
Well the F25 x3 is everything this is but more economical,
I often mistake them for the x5 as they are so big now as well. Look like equally tremendous cars 👍
Nope.
I'll just get a CRV for SUV, or Odyssey for MPV.
European cars are money pits 😢
