Just ordered a 2020 X5 with 3rd row last month. Totally agree with Mico about the X5's 3rd row. With a whole family that are around 5'3 to 5'7, we will be able to balance out the 3 row seating positions to make it comfortable. I do not recommend getting 3 row in the X5 if you have more than 2 people in the family that are like Mico's height (5'10) or taller as it just doesn't make work well
We have a Audi Q5 and occasionally need the 3rd row for short distances. Not necessarily wanting a larger Audi Q7 or even slightly longer BMWX7 and the BMW X5 might be the perfect size...slightly bigger and comfortable for me on longer travels, and not to big for her as it is her daily driver ... being able to get 3 couples in for dinner or grand kids for excursions....Great review...actually best Ive seen so far Mico

The third rows look extremely similar in dimensions. It would be very helpful if you could provide the dimensions of the TRUNK space with the 3rd row up- this too looks surprisingly similar between the two trucks.
both X5 and X7 the 3rd row seating is basically squatting position, this is ok for few minutes but not for long journey as the weight of not only you upper body but also thigh come on your butts, and then they start to hurt.
Na the x7 is much better. If you move the middle row forward you have plenty of knee room. You have more leg room in the middle row so you could move it even more forward if u need extra room in the back and the last row seats are pretty high that an adult can fit comfortably.
If you push the second row as forward as it can go and slide your feet under the seat in front of you, your legs can get in a more normal position. It’s totally fine for anything but long drives
The x7 has more 3rd row leg room then all 2020 and below Yukon Tahoe and Escalades. Not until the new 2021 body style do the triplets have more room than the x7.
@@haysamd8643 The only problem with the x7 3rd row is how much of a pain it is to get in and out of it. The seats move at snails pace, I wonder why BMW couldn't engineer slightly faster shifting mechanisms.
Is the 3rd row option usually ordered by the dealer or does the customer have to customer order it? It appears that there are not many 3 row X5's on the dealers lots
It has to be ordered from the factory as a part of the car, so either a dealer orders it like that for inventory, or you as a customer can place a custom order.
My 2022 X5 with 3rd row seats has been an utter disaster. These seats quit working properly about a month into ownership….and whats worse is because of the computer interplay with the front seats, the front seats won’t work either. This can render the vehicle not drivable since the front seats get stuck in awkward positions. When this happens don’t try driving the vehicles because you will be way to close to the steering column and an airbag deployment could cause death. Adding insult to injury our local dealer in Charleston, SC can’t get to it for over two weeks.
OMG!!!!! That’s terrible!!! I was just telling my husband the power-fold button second row seats is a TERRIBLE idea!!! I get the trunk power-fold button for loading cargo, but if it’s raining and you’re waiting to get into the third row you’re just standing there waiting for the seat to go down. And then hearing your situation really solidifies that they should have left it manual or offered both.

I am 6’2” X7 with captain seats fits me comfortably on all 3 rows. I was surprised how spacious it is.

The second row is not the same without the 3rd row. There's no adjustment at all in the second row unless you get the 3rd row option
