Sold my 8yo Q7 last October and bought a near-new Touareg. Had that for 8 months and now sold that for a 4yo SQ7. The Touareg is nowhere near only 10% down on the Q7 for noise, comfort etc. Not even close. More like 40%!!. My 8yo Q7 (with 97,000kms) was quieter, more comfortable, tighter with less rattles than the almost new Touareg. To say the Touareg was a disappointment is an understatement. Probably should have known better. The 4yo SQ7 I traded the Touareg for has only 25,000kms on it and is a monster! Love it!! Also for old school dudes like me, it is the last of the analogue dash (S)Q7s (which I love) it has a CD player (which I love), and it has a stonking great diesel engine (which I also love). Long live the Audi Q7/SQ7! PS: All three cars mentioned were air-suspension equipped.
I think when it comes to these cars user friendly and comfort is the key. I love mercs but there always abit to complicated Audi’s always feel 2 years behind and somehow bmw always feel just right. BMW X5 ticks all the boxes and does everything well. Everything’s easy to use and just seems to work. Bmw is doing good work lately.
Hard decision but for the money I would take the Touareg because the new Display in the Interior is just mind blowing but I think if the prince doesnt matter I would take the BMW X5 just for the quality.
BWMIM 9 completely disagree. I’ve actually seen it and test drove it in real life as opposed to you, who is almost certainly judging it by online pictures.
I just bought a 2017 Q7. I LOVE THE POPUP SCREEN. One thing that I didn’t know I would love is that it isn’t a touchscreen. No fingerprints and right at eye level. I love it :)
I have an Audi Q7 3.0T and test drove the bmw and 4 cylinder Benz. I never thought I’d land on the Audi but the Benz seemed chintzy and cheap and the 4Cyl T was a dog in that car. X5 was awesome but I’m so happy with the Q7-interior is the best place to be of the 3 and the 3rd row has come in handy for my kids and their friends.
Im not 100 % on your verdict as you seem a bit bias with a sporty drive rather than the object of an SUV which is safety comfort and space , luxury. You also note that there's a facelift of the Q7 and you have not compared the GLE 400 or 450 version or the Mercedes which I think would be the fair comparison
Well while i agree on most points SUV means Sports Utility Vehicle so comparing the Sporty part of it isnt too off. But yes i agree despite its type of vehicle its really about space, safety and comfort rather than the sporty aspect. The Average SUV driver cares more about these parts than being fast around the track.

Dunno, I think the previous generation of X5 looked better. this ones grill just looks a bit ridiculous tbh
@@JonathanGray_UK at least not as ridiculous as X7 or the 7 series
It's difficult to argue about tastes but I believe most of the viewers have a same opinion.
Have you also driven the Mercedes gle?
@@elvismegabrain752 No, but he did and I believe he is right in his verdict. For me Gle design is beyond those 3 cars...actually I am dissapointed cause I expect from Mercedes always to be on the top and this is not he case with Gle
I don't think "brand image" should be a factor in reviews. Reviews can change the brand image
The problem is when you drive the same brand as some poor guy with his golf. Then it does matter
Splash or a polo, or a vw up...or a lupo. So yeah
Q7 is the most family friendly in the bunch and that's what i'm looking for, great review
it looks more like a van
And it is the ugliest too
@@vandita3695 shots fired 💀
I had a 2004 VW Touareg and (besides the electrical issues from the last owner) it felt like it had presence on the road even though it was really subtle. It felt like you were driving a tank, but in the best way possible. Amazing piece of odd VW enginering
Shows an X5 and calls it an X7, then shows a driving shot of the X7 calling it an X5. That is some sloppy editing Mat.
they all look the same, BMWs :)) also Mercs, Audis and all other cloned cars these days
A real bisexual petrol-head but the x5 and x7 looks exactly the same, gotta relax
Geez, a real...whatever, what's up your arse? you'd think the x5 was designed by you...

Float like an Eagle Bite like a Viper ! And ur wallet has shit in it
it should have been Porsche Cayene instead of WW Touareg as in my opinion.
I would love to see a Cayenne instead of the VW. Still a great video!
The vw is nicer but cuz the cayenne is a porshe youd prefer it. How sad
man_like _Dylan - stupid comment
man_like _Dylan well obiously Porsche is better than Porsche so thats why
He could have used an RX-L instead of the Touareg.
@@dylan6471 nicer for you not everyone. Porsche is a better brand anyway. How sad
Love our X5 driving in California! With all the competition all around us ... still can hold its own amongst the best.
''Folkswagen'' that is literally what Volkswagen means
No, really LOL!
Dominic Luchtenburg
Yeah, that’s why he .... never mind.
no it means 'people car'. folks is a slang word for parents and wagon means a cart used in the old days for transporting goods
“people’s car”
Volk = People
Wagen=Car
It was one of the first afordable Car for the low/middle Clas People that is why it has this Name.

I knew he is going for the BMW! You did right ?
yup
It is the best though
Last year , he hv chosen audi , this year it will be bmw , you know what i mean?
Yes I did. You know why? Because its the best you fucking pleb
Hey Matt!!!
I wish you could edit your "X7" instead of "X5" ☹

There is worse in 0:51 there is an x7 instead of x5 :(
Audi Q7 is excellent and safe suv, Fantastic high speed controller.
The Q7 looks stunning from the rear
🤣🤣🤣
@@interceptor-ss8kb What are you laughing for?
He doesnt understand that everyone can have their own opinion
@@JanM2 Exactly
you know what else looks stunning from the rear, my asshole
X5 stands out👍👍 Love this thing
I’m taking the Merc because in America it’s all about road presence and the GLE has that in abundance. Not to mention the interior looks like a space ship and the LED interior lighting is second to none.
I couldn't agree more! The X5 is truly an all rounder.
X5 best SUV it is... please review the X7 and GLS
Why didnt you show the GLE jumping mode?
That can't be done with the air suspension. The more expensive versions have the electric suspension.
Paul Saunders Also, E-Active Body Control isn’t offered on UK-spec GLE’s anyway.
ShadowLoleris I’m not sure to be honest...
I go with the Touareg,no matter what❤️😁
Finally someone who actually makes a comment 2 years later than the actual video. So I’m not alone 😉.
I actually think the Touareg with a proper color looks the best
I would pick the vw... budget luxury :)
Audi Q7 still the best for space price and comfort. Really want an SQ7!
Lee M def a great looking SUV
Q7 is the most dull, drab and boring looking suv in the segment, looks like a jacked up fat bloated station wagon/minivan!!
We want a rematch featuring the new Q7 and the cayenne. 🔥🔥🔥
Q7 is lit 😍
Q7 is the most dull, drab and boring looking suv in the segment, looks like a jacked up fat bloated station wagon /minivan !!
Pick Q7 any time, drove X5 and GLE.
Vw gives a good impression 🔥🔥
I don't like vw I like bmw its better
@@Samzhim also more expensive
I think when it comes to these cars user friendly and comfort is the key. I love mercs but there always abit to complicated Audi’s always feel 2 years behind and somehow bmw always feel just right. BMW X5 ticks all the boxes and does everything well. Everything’s easy to use and just seems to work. Bmw is doing good work lately.
Gle for me, the nicest interior but needs to be the GLE 400D
What about the 350de hybrid? 100km electric is nice.
Definitely taking the X5 any day!!
Hard decision but for the money I would take the Touareg because the new Display in the Interior is just mind blowing but I think if the prince doesnt matter I would take the BMW X5 just for the quality.
I think Q7 should win that because he's well better than the others my in opinion
And your arguments for that? Im just curious, no front
I happen to own this x5. Excellent car overall. Satisfied with my choice.
Glad you like it
How much does it cost? Sorry to ask such an intruding question. Is it easier to lease or purchase hire? It costs too much for me to pay outright
I feel like Matt is biased when it comes to BMW... He always shows a lot of favor to it....
Sirbenz m no he’s not
The Brits favour BMW, i find.
Of course, as expected BMW is top quality! Whoever hates on this brand has no clue of high quality cars.
I remember when i got my 2014 S3 and i was so excited about the pop up screen 😂
It does look old now though 😔

Flame Gravity the facelift one is rubbish
BWMIM 9 it’s really not. I’m switching Over from my X5 to the 2020 Q7, the new interior is stunning with the three screens.
Dylan F exterior is mehhhh
BWMIM 9 completely disagree. I’ve actually seen it and test drove it in real life as opposed to you, who is almost certainly judging it by online pictures.
Dylan F chillax, all he did was express his opinion. I’m certain he didn’t intend to offend your sensible bitch ass.
I thought Audi Pop up screen is cool
I just bought a 2017 Q7. I LOVE THE POPUP SCREEN. One thing that I didn’t know I would love is that it isn’t a touchscreen. No fingerprints and right at eye level. I love it :)
I wish it was bigger. But I love pop up screens. I like things that pop up and stuff in cars lol
Touareg and Audi ❤👑
The Porsche Cayenne and Volvo XC-90 should be included in this mix

I agree! I’ve driven the 2019 x5

Q7 should be the winner cause it’s still modern to today’s standards
Matt you should realize that the Q7 is a car that’s almost 4 years old.
Dwayne Teixeira well yes it’s a 4 year old car BUT that’s not the customers problem since it’s up to Audi to update it.
GLE and X5 way ahead of "competition". XC 90 would be better match than VW.
I love the fold away screen option in the Audi. Too many screens around us, nice to have one less.
The Average SUV driver cares more about these parts than being fast around the track.
ryu fuku he compared all entry level engines
the villagers are coming with the pitchforks, because you said x7,run!!!!!!!!
Ya he said X7
I could have forgiven him if hadn’t shown a X7 at 00:50 its too much to let go
I agree. I have an X5 and we absolutely love it 😉👍
For me mercedes and audi
I thnk the Q7 is supposed to be in the GLS, X7 territory, this would be better with the Q8..also anyone notice how mat's energy between reviewing the BMW and the merc is incredibly dffrent?
Hahahahha true he’s a bmw fan boy
Just watching those 5 beasts in one video is awesome.
I think the Mercedes GLE should have won this test, Matt however is sponsored by BMW
Yeah, so the verdict is irrelevant.

@@dharmafatsanta4264 I don't like the BMW for 1 very important thing, the digital drivers display is horrendous and the tachometer moves backwards and you cannot customise it. Doug DeMuro said that MBUX is as good if not better than iDrive and the digital drivers display is the best.
In my opinion the BMW X5 looks the best inside and out. (Just my opinion)
Who else agrees??
TechAC More of a Mercedes fan myself, but I respect your opinion.
Mat they have revealed the new Q7 facelift. The interior is way better than the X5 now.
No matter what Audi do ..it will Always play second fiddle to a BMW ..look beneath the skin..then you will see why Audi's are and always have been rubbish !!!
@@mikegill6558 why are bmw incapable of making reliable 4 cylinder engines then? N47, N43, etc etc all shite. And BMW refuse to take responsibility. And mat prefers the mainstream A6, a7, A8 as well all know. And audi do not copy paste interiors from 7 series into 1 series.
For some reason I actually prefer the driving experience rather than comfort, who cares about the people in the back anyway 😜
@Chris Regan he's actually right.. if you rather have a heavy-sporty over a comfortable SUV, then you might've chosen the wrong car. Market is full of sporty small cars for that.

Still waiting on the new BMW 3-series vs the rivals!
Im a Q7 owner and I have a 2012 3.0t which I love but I have a few issues.
1)Now the center console surface has begun to peel. 2) It downshifts too far on highway acceleration making it rev high without moving much.
3) A little cramped for 4 good sized adults on long trips.
4) annoying brake sensor wire connectors at the wheels need contact cleaned annually of dash lights up.
5) When you move the rear view mirror the rain sensing wiper start moving for a sec.
6) At max volume the stereo isn't that loud.
7) No remote tailgate function. No front mounted tailgate close feature or button.
8) The 290ho factory is under powered. Have to go stage 1 or 2 refresh to wake it up.
Oh and the paint scratches very easily
And the blue color is too close to black
what about Volvo XC90 ?? It got some refreshing recently. It's a great car overall, great looking both inside and outside, the only bad thing is the engine choices, but even D5 and T5 deliver more than enough power for daily usage.
q7 needs a facelift. when that happens, that should be the car winning this premium SUV test. Also, include the XC90 next time.
I would probably go with a GLE500e. Strong, Luxurious and being a hybrid brings quiet driving when needed, along with better economy.
Lol u prolly own it if ur chosing it
Gle looks pretty solid 😍
At 11:11, you said the AUDI Q7's boot was huge, then you go and show the BMW X5's boot a second after! Be careful next time :)
In the bmw if you have the 7 seats you can move the second row of seats
Design - X5, value for money - Touareg
Showing off the Audi’s trunk.... Matt goes “looks at that boot its huge” as they cut to a clip of the X5 boot. Lol 11:15
