This ranks with films such as 12 angry men and zero hour for me, acting just smeared all over the screen. The minimal stage sets lends to the focus of our cast who dominate the screen with their performances. Critically underrated if even known by people, a true favorite of mine.
In 74 I was 9 years old and briefly remember my parents watching this. Later on in my late teens I caught a re broadcast of it somewhere. Now Im in my 50s and looking to watch this again.
I first saw this movie when I was in 8th grade. As a matter of fact, I watched this in my 8th grade history class. William Devane played the part of JFK perfectly.. I've seen him in a few other movies and always enjoyed his performance. I also got hooked on Knots Landing two seasons before he joined the cast. That's when the show really got good !
William Devane should have been nominated for an Emmy for his role as JFK in this film. He was incredible...absolutely the best I have seen in so so many over the years of actors playing JFK. He was superb in this role!
This griping 1974 drama was, until recently, available to watch on YT in it's entirety. It's too bad that it has since been removed. Many actors have portrayed JFK (including Martin Sheen) with varying results. Willian Devane, however, in my view, nails it!
I saw the original broadcast along with forty other students in the TV room adjacent to the pool tables and bowling alley in the basement of the student union building at the college I was attending. At 10 o'clock the game room manager told us to leave as it was closing time. We pleaded with him to let us finish the show. He let us stay. Doug was a good guy. I've found it on the internet, but it seems I can't direct you. YT keeps taking the comment down, no matter how cryptic I make it.
No, it's been on DVD for quite awhile now. I think YT will post the entire film online within a year or two, just my own opinion. Whether a Blu-Ray will be released I don't know.
It was a very well done program. Just having the trailer is stupid when the entire TV movie was once here. PUT IT BACK!
Some of the finest acting that I have ever seen was in this movie. Devane's finest moment as an actor in my opinion...
Only available on DVD now. Worth the buy.
This is one of greatest programs in the history of television. Absolutely fantastic from the very beginning.
Remember this when it came out. It was good. Showed how close we came to something we should never have come close TO.

Dang it!!! I want to see this!!!
Watched this when it originally aired in 1974. It was more like a stage production than a movie. Superb acting.

Don't count out Martin Sheen's performance as JFK in Kennedy (1983) tv mini series.

Agree on all counts
They don't make 'em like this anymore.

James Daley Point well taken
Please put back the movie 🎥
Probably a copyright violation. Becomes public domain 75 years after original release date. 2049.
More like 1 or 2 years
I remember seeing this made-for-tv movie when it was originally broadcast, but now it's unavailable anywhere
