MaashAllah. I always have respect and admiration for those who manage to transform professions with not many fans into something special.

Things were going pretty well during the interview Masha'Allah; until my buddy brought up their mixed background, which included Arab, Kenyan, and Portuguese roots (38:03). Just a heads up, it's worth brushing up on this topic because the Barawa people don't actually have any Portuguese ancestry. Fun fact: they're actually descendants of the Hadramawt region in Yemen, and some may have mixed heritage with various Cushitic tribes from East Africa.
Don't let the haters spew their bogus claims about the Barawa community being of Portuguese descent. Embrace your roots, my friend! You come from a rich culture and a language that is unique to the Barawa people. So hold your head high and strut your stuff with pride!

I read that, such an odd claim, 0 tribes claim Portuguese ancestry.

Have you guys ever thought about repatriating back to Yemen? Will Yemen give you guys citizenship? If not, why not advocate for thatS How come when some Banadari people do their dna tests, they also have just as much Indian/Pakistani ancestry... is their shame in being Desi?
African natives including Somalia, are those of us who have African ancestry (genetically) including African admixed folk.

Also, there’s only one cushetic group in Somalia. So are you guys oromo or eritrean cushites like the Blin? I’ve seen a guy on UA-cam ‘modern Somali family’ who’s banaadri and he had Ethiopian ancestry. Maybe y’all left Yemen, went to to Eritrea Ethiopia and travelled down to the coast and then mixed with Indian merchants 🤔

I don't think you understand how identity works, lineage is what determines identity in Arab culture, Somali culture and actual Islamic law, Allah said ادعوهم لآبائهم هو اقسط عند الله call(link/associate) them(in their lineage and therefore identity) to their fathers, that is most ~just with Allah.
This is an important point, because it shows that being mixed with other groups does not take away from one's origin, so long as your father's line is from the identity you claim, ofcourse Benaadiris are mixed, they live on a port city and were interacting with various empires and ethnic groups to make a living, they were not and are not nomads who only interact with their cousins. Many Benaadiris have moved to Yemen, because believe it or not, despite both Yemen and Somalia being twins in civil war and poverty, Yemen is more civilised historically speaking, and the situation there for many is more bearable. On the other hand many Benaadiris do not want to leave the country their ancestry built hoping it gets better, which it will Inshaa allah.
