    I like the straight to the point style. I’ve watched dozens of golf teaching videos where you’re treated like a beginner. The vast majority of viewers are amateur golfers who are experienced and know a lot about the game but need tips to tweak their game or cure a habit. What you get here is some respect and acknowledgement that you are a GOLFER already.

    Ihave struggled with a slice forever. But your explanation of the geometry as well as the progressive drills is very helpful. I just tried this as you suggested at the range and it is working. I know it’s going to take practice but you’ve given me hope I can learn to hit a draw. Thank you!!!

    Watched a lot of your videos lately after decided to try and work on the mechanics of my swing. Everyone is helpful in some form and very easy to follow.
    Also the 'playful' mental side to learning really has helped. More patient about getting results than getting frustrated after every bad shot.
    Thanks Adam 👍

    Hi Adam! Finally!!! A video that I can apply to my swing that makes sense! I’ve watched COUNTLESS videos on how to hit a draw or stop slicing and the common theme was to swing shallow and/ or finish more to the right. Neither ever worked for me- shallow resulted in coming in so low that I often “drop kicked” my driver and trying to swing further to the right produced near misses and a really awkward swing path with almost no power. The example you give with the ping pong paddle or tennis racket actually makes wayyy more sense! Thank you thank you thank you!!! This works!!!!

    Thank you for offering such a great video. Liked how you broke it down into simple steps, then built on it gradually. Different views were great. Got more of the idea when viewing from behind the ball.

    It can be done folks! I took my 79 year old father to an indoor golf place yesterday so that I could show him in slow motion what his club was doing at impact, because he struggles with a slice (and I have a natural inside out swing). And within ten minutes I had him going from a pretty drastic outside-inside swing to an inside out! I was able to use this video to build his swing up just a little at a time and to use Adam's words, in a very playful and fun way and that quickly he had it! That's the key, play around with it and don't be in a hurry, walk before you run as the old saying goes!

    Adam I have learned so much binge watching your videos over the past few days. My family thinks I'm nuts for shifting my hips and snapping towels around the house. Really awesome content. I played twice during that time and am noticing a huge difference in ball striking with irons especially. I was hitting ground before the ball often with irons and your vids have given so much insight into correcting that. Just thinking about snapping the towel during setup has made a huge difference. I will never miss a vid and will tell all my golf buddies to tune in great job. Also your swing analysis of pro golfers is best around.

    I have struggled with slicing my drives. I watched many videos to no avail. Then I watched this video. Your use of a tennis racket resonated with me. I needed some kind of key while swinging and that was it. When I played tennis, I could hit top spin or back spin shots. So today, I was finally able to manipulate the club head by thinking of hitting a slight top spin shot with my driver. Finally, I was able to stop slicing the ball and hit it straight or a slight draw. Not just with my driver but with my irons as well. I can't thank you enough.

    Riding the R to L wind. One of the fundamentals of golf. Tee it high, swing up through it to the outside, and most of all hold your head back, don't peak. Nick Faldo illustrated this shot from Royal St. George's last week. He claimed to even use it to control distances into greens based on the pin positions. He even illustrated that with actual hits with both cuts to the right, and wind riding left flights

    Thanks again Adam. I told you it worked on the range, I took it to a tough breezy links in Kent on Sunday and after a couple of holes where I was stuck between old and new swing I started trusting this technique and just kept hitting fairways. Hey Adam--thanks so much for this video. Belief it or not, the swing cue that helped me the most was "relax and have fun!" So far with this instruction my slow 40% swing goes about 200 yards with a slight draw. Unfortunately, my longer swing goes about the same or less. Probably just need to incorporate the relaxed mind set on the longer swings Thanks so much, and as a golfer just rejoining the game after 30 years away, I appreciate all your videos. Cheers!

    I went to the driving range this morning after watching this video, having played a bit of tennis in my youth I understood exactly the point being made , it didn't take long to get the feel of a slight twist closing the club face through impact. What this did for me was eliminate a violent slice or extreme fade to the right as the ball landed . What would look like a good shot , when it landed would go 15 or 20 yards to the right . I understand these are early days . However it was the best trip to a driving range I can remember ! Thanks for the tip .

    thank you very kindly Adam, your lessons are great ! To add one observation, .. , I have found that changing to a baseball grip with a normal full blooded drive, gives a wicked drawn verve or spin on the ball towards it's latter flight path, looping in in a jimmy connors top spin style, so for the top hand, tuck (both) thumbs in, hands facing opposites, it's the fastest way to nuke a troubling slice, by tucking in the thumbs, it allows the club to switch hit thru at impact, crossing over, hands crossing over radically and immediately, as the top hand thumb does not lock impede or bar this flexion movement, so it adds power and accuracy aswell, and after about 30 practise drives it becomes a tad sore on the bottom hand thumb joint, but it's the best grip by far for guaranteeing atleast a 3 to 5 yard curve in bend in the shot ! And for heavy shots, the most accurate, yet clearly softly softly is a better style. Just a brief comment, the grip i learnt from a golf manual from ivy league Boston colleges written in the 80s perhaps. Based on my recollections. 👍👌

    Tried this today at the range…I went through the drill and I have to say that out of a large bucket of balls, I only sliced about 8-10 balls towards the end as I was beginning to tire. It felt a little funny trying to exaggerate my hips to the left and I did start to top a few shots, but for the most part, I was able to straighten out my slice with one bucket of balls. Still have a lot of work to do and I am trying to get my wrists working properly and swinging from the inside out rather than over the top, but I do believe your instructions helped and I have a new confidence to be able to hit the ball straight down the fairway…which will then generate a new feeling of enjoyment for the game!! I have never in my 25 years of playing golf made a ball go right to left. Not even by accident. I watched this video and in less that 10 balls I was shaping my driver right to left. Thank you very much for this video!!!!

    Great video as always sir. I am a serial ‘down hitter’ of the ball (-5 degrees on average). Do you have any advice for controlling this/differentiating driver swing from iron swing, as I believe it it causing me to slice.

      Josh,
      I have a number of videos at this channel about the driver in general. Also, at www.scratchgolfacademy.com I offer full video courses, including one on the driver, I hope you'll consider it.
      All the best, Adam

    Mr Bazalgette thanks for all your help, a question, can you teach how to draw a ball with a hybrid (4,5,6,)o fairway wood ( 3 or 5) thanks. JC Rodriguez el paso texas

      JC,
      Thanks. It's the same principal for all of those clubs, but with more lofted clubs you'll get less draw.
      All the best, Adam

    Exactly my thought, I'm A pretty decent ping pong player. Work the paddle for directional shots and translate that concept to the driver for a draw

    I just aim right a bit, grip it with the face slightly closed, and swing normally. Works almost every time! Opposite is true for a fade.

    Hi Adam;
    I was wondering if gripping the club a bit closed at address might be easier than trying to close it at impact with your wrists. Thanks!

    • @Scratchgolfacademy
      @Scratchgolfacademy  7 років тому

      Mike,
      It's an option for sure. Either way, the golfer has to feel the club through impact (a lot can change, and often does from address to impact), but if starting a bit closed helps then that's fine.
      Best, Adam
