  • How To make incredible stain remover that gets out even the worst set in stains using three simple ingredients! Works like a charm and has saved many-an-outfits in our home! The proportions are not strict, simply mix equal parts of all three and if it seems too runny add a little more baking soda. The original blue Dawn is key. You can try to substitute but I cannot vouch for its effectiveness in that case!

    I'm telling you this is magic! I had tried at least five other things, which means I've washed and dried this with the stain about 5 times. I thought there was no way this would work! It did! I cannot thank you enough for this video!

    This also works great for upholstery. I used it for a vintage chair that I have that is a cream color, and the fabric on the arms had gotten grungy. This worked great! And also, I just use regular blue Dawn as a pre-treater now, no need to buy shout or anything like that. It will also take out grease stains on clothes that have been through the dryer several times.

    OMG thank you soooo much my neighbors dog got blood all over one of my quilts birthing her puppies (she slipped inside my open door) I washed it a dozen times and the blood and stains weren't coming out. It worked better than I ever dreamed except I didn't have Dawn so used Palmolive antibacterial so maybe that is another option worked for me. :)

    Recently my SIL gave me some hand me downs for my 4 year old son. There was a nice striped dress shirt that I thought would be nice for Christmas but it had a yellow stain on the front. I thought I remembered that you did a video on an effective stain remover so I rewatched this video and gave it a try. And lo and behold, it worked! Thank you so much Hillary!

    On the pinterest link it lists: 2 parts peroxide and 1 part Dawn and baking soda. I mixed up a lot so I did 1 cup of peroxide and 1/2 cup of the Dawn and washing soda, which is almost the same as baking soda but not to be eaten.

    • @frozentootsiepop
      @frozentootsiepop 7 років тому

      I can't follow the recipe you posted. "1 part Dawn and baking soda" does that mean you used 1/2 cup each of Dawn and baking soda or 1/2 cup total of Dawn and soda?

    • @candacebuck61
      @candacebuck61 7 років тому

      2 parts hydrogen peroxide, 1 part Dawn and 1 part baking soda. 1 cup peroxide, 1/2 cup Dawn, 1/2 cup baking soda. We get huge bags of washing soda at Costco but it's not identical to regular baking soda. Use it to pretreat as much as needed, doesn't harm fabric, but both will act in the same way in the washing.

    • @frozentootsiepop
      @frozentootsiepop 7 років тому

      Thanks, Candace! I think I'll substitute washing soda for the baking soda since that's often used on clothes. Hopefully it works just as well!

      There's nothing wrong, hydrogen peroxide is a naturally bleaching agent.

    • @kittymitts40
      @kittymitts40 8 років тому

      Hydrogen peroxide is actually a type of bleach so this is probably why it faded your coloured items. Try using the same mixture of sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) and washing up liquid (although I use a clear one so it doesn't cause possible staining) and leave it on for an hour, scrub it again and then put it in the wash. Also if you have oil stains, try laying the item out flat and put a layer of sodium bicarbonate on the stain dry for an hour to soak up the oil (this sometimes works on old stains too) then put a little clear washing up liquid on the powder and use a soft brush ( I use an old toothbrush)and some water to wet it and scrub where the stain is. Wash as normal and the stain should come out. if it is really bad then you may need to repeat the method. Good luck!!

      Your local supermarket should sell something called colour run remover (various different brands of it), it should be in the laundry cleaning section. Just check the instructions for it before you buy it to make sure the product is compatible with the fabric of the clothes. My mum, sister and I use it when we have accidentally put something coloured in with a white wash and it has always worked for us.

    I opened an old box of baby clothes and wanted to use them on our second daughter, I just soaked them in Oxi for a few hours. It worked really well. BUT...now my oldest daughter has a uniform for school and has to wear white shirts everyday! How do I get the arm pit yellow stains out? Does this stain remover help with this?

    I have a small grease stain on a rayon knit shirt. So, will this work with a cold water wash? I'm also concerned that the peroxide will destroy the bright color. I paid a lot for this top and want so bad to fix this!

      +Faith Spencer I have used this in cold water with the same results, but if you are worried about bleaching the color I would try a very small indiscreet spot first just to be cautious :)

    Any advice for detergents stains ?? I use tide and my clothes comes out worse then when I put them in the washer

      Annette Diaz Ooh..that stinks! I suppose you could try this on those clothes, it certainly won't make things worse. Then I'd consider switching detergents. I make my own powdered laundry soap, have been for over 3 1/2 years now, and I've never had a staining problem. How To: Homemade Laundry Detergent

    What is the measurements to make it? I really want to try this I have a family of 7 :) so this would save me a lot of money

      Katelyn Paden I've used measurements but honestly the proportions don't matter much. Just add a little of each until you get a runny paste :)
