  • Dr Gábor Somlyai graduated as a biologist from the University of Szeged in 1982. Between 1982 and 1990 he worked for the Department of Plant Pathology, Plant Protection Institute of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. He had a scholarship from the Hungarian Academy of Sciences while studying for his PhD and defended his thesis in molecular biology in 1988. Dr Somlyai spent six months at the Georg-August University in Göttingen on a DFG scholarship after receiving his PhD. He followed that with a postdoctoral fellowship in the field of genetic engineering and gene mapping at the University of Missouri in Columbia, Missouri.
    In the wake of the Hungarian, Nobel-prize winning scientist Albert Szent-Györgyi - who said that the true cause of cancer should be looked for at the sub-molecular level - Gábor began his examining the biological importance of naturally occurring deuterium as a senior research fellow at the Hungarian Institute of Oncology in 1990.
    In 1993 Gabor established HYD Ltd. for Research and Development (now HYD LLC. for Cancer Research and Drug Development) to carry out cancer research and drug development based on the proprietary procedure called deuterium depletion. Dr Somlyai served as the scientific director of HYD Ltd. between 1993 and 1997 before becoming the CEO of the company. In 2012 he also began serving as the General Director of HYD’s parent company, HYD Pharma Inc.
    His book, Defeating Cancer!, was published in Hungary in 2000. It has since been published in Romania, Japan, China, South-Korea and the U.S.A.
    Gábor is a holder of numerous international patents, an author of more than 40 scientific publications, and is a highly sought-after speaker at international conferences.

      1. if a higher amount of Deuterium causes cell to be cancerous.
      2. Crystolisys (disappearance of crista in mitochondria) is a hallmark of cancer cells. Healthy mitochondria have a lot of crista with complex 1-4 on the intra-mitochondrial cell membranes.
      1+2=3. Does an increase of Deuterium make the crista disappear? When metabolising fat a healthy amount of crista are important.

    Stunning! In my entire career as a biochemist, I was never aware of this deuterium effect on metabolism. It always amazes me how people in the same discipline can conceive of radically different ideas with the same training and the same information in front of them. Some people are just geniuses! I went down the path of enzymology, and Somlyai followed the deuterium.
    What is happening with heavy water, i.e. deuterium water, is a kinetic isotope effect on enzymatic reactions. The bond vibrational energy of a deuterium atom bonded to, say, a carbon atom, is different than a hydrogen atom bonded to a carbon atom. In an enzyme reaction, it will take more energy to break the D-C bond than an H-C bond. This will slow down the enzymatic reaction every time a D-C bond comes along instead of the more abundant H-D bond. This results in a change of the ratio of D/C in the reaction products.
    This kinetic isotope effect has been used for decades by enzymologists to study the chemical mechanisms of enzymes, but it has never occurred to me that the cumulative effect of this on all the enzymes in a cell might add up to a major metabolic effect.
    I'm wondering if this might be leveraged to make specific deuterium labelled enzyme inhibitors for specific enzymes with high expression in cancer or other diseases.

    • @anthonychaffeemd

      Very cool! It's great to have these ideas disseminated so that people like yourself who knows what to do with the information can take it and run!

      Exactly, Boros talks about this process in cancer mitosis. When our immune checkpoints in the process, especially during the synthesis phase finds the mutation it has a harder time splicing, cutting, or repairing the new copy. So, if there is more deuterium depleted hydrogen in the system there is more likely a chance the new mutation will die. And cancer will have a harder time copying itself.

There is many carnivore women with very good results including lot's of butter to their diet. Is it really needed? Is it somehow specially good for women as many carnivore men don't seem to talk about butter too much if at all? Or can I also just thrive with meat, eggs and water? I eat fatty meat like ribeyes and short ribs. And I try to avoid all dairy if possible. I think most dairy is processed anyway ( butter, yoghurt, cheese). Fascinating interview! I'd be curious to know why there is more deuterium near the equator relative to the poles. I wonder if rainwater/surface water generally has less D than ground/well water and if the difference may impact the cancer risk of the local population?

    • @gaborsomlyai9523
      @gaborsomlyai9523 Рік тому +3

      The D concentration of the ocean at the equatorial area is 155 ppm. This is why this region has the highest D concentration of rainwater. But because there are 1.5 Celsius degree differences in the boiling point between the H2O and D2O, the water will be reached for the H2O in the gas phase. As the clouds are moving from the equator to the poles the D2O concentration decreases. In middle Europe, the D concentration is about 145 ppm, but in Edmonton, in Canada, it could be as low as 130 ppm. I think the reason hard to find a direct connection between the D concentration and the incidence of cancer is that all the cells are adapted to the given D concentration of the region.

    • @gaborsomlyai9523
      @gaborsomlyai9523 Рік тому +7

      The D-concentration of your drinking water depends on where you live. Close to the equatorial area the water contains D at 155 ppm. In Europe, the raining water D-concentration is lower, about 145 ppm. Within the US the D-concentration is decreasing moving from south to north. The carnivore diet may reduce the body's D-concentration by 5-10 ppm which already causes significant positive changes in metabolism.

      they studied it extensively in the 90s... somehow the Cancer Cells adapt to the new level of Deuterium Depleted Water. So, if you begin with 25ppm you're really screwed because you can't get much lower than that.
      They found it was better to go to 85ppm and then stall the Cancer, and then begin to do Ketosis, Red Light and other therapies and heal the cancer a bit slower but more effectively by restoring Autophagy and Apoptosis.
