WOW! I DONT WANT TO REDRAW IT
172 to 5 looking like edgy wins
I was so sad when I saw this solution
yeah basically
Why?

What I don’t understand is when I have a large image created in procreate and need to scale down for a different purpose of the same image it becomes pixelated. When I try draw it fresh on the smaller canvas, ie 300px x 300px every line that I draw is pixelated. How do I avoid this?
Sameeeee I try drawing realistic but it never works out
Your canvas is too small
Agree, I have the same problem. Big to small creates jagged edges. My canvas is 5400x4000...Wichita very big!
Having this issue now
Same someone explain
EVERYONE!! The solution is to switch on the Nearest Neighbor option when you select the transform tool (mouse icon) , i think the default is bicubic, it's next to the ''fit to screen'' option, just switch that to nearest neighbor and your problem should be fixed
This doesn't really help me. I make emotes for Twitch and I need to draw on a small canvas, but the lines still come out blurry and jagged.
yeet I’m trying to do that for my boyfriend, and I was like it’s blurry and fuzzyyy
yeet draw them very big so when you size it down it stays good quality
Jessica wilson I use procreate and I don’t have photoshop but I still wonder if I did that it would become pixelated because it’s a pixel based application
Just draw it bigger, and send it to a small canvas, then scale it down
yeet did you ever figure out how on procreate?
even when i scale down it gets extremely blurry :( its gotten worse since the update
They've got some quirks they definitely need to work out - rotating seems to cause the most issues right now. Fingers crossed they'll fix this with the next update!
Same¡
my problem with blurry lines more comes from duplicating a layer (don't even change the size, might flip it or rotate the image)... I use canvas size in pixels 4050X3240 DPI 300 and the blurred lines never used to be so noticeable until the last update.
Megan Curlew I’ve noticed this too. Hopefully they will fix this issue.
Diane Matthews i dont understand bc it looks fine before i confirm the rotate change but once i hit the button it unrenders lol
I thought I was crazy ! It used to work so well before, it was never this bad
Ikr, this is honestly so annoying
Teela, would you break down the numbers or the proportions you look at when going from max size of work to textures? I feel like you are using a formula. What other element should we be paying attention to?
When I scale it down it gets pixelated...
"My Pixelated Heart" would make a great band or song name. LOL
I really wish Procreate would address this up-scaling issue to retain good resolution soon...
Edric Hsu No pixel based program can avoid blurry edges while up-scaling unfortunately.
@@alankarmisra Photoshop's upscale algorithm is amazing. Procreate still lags far behind even other iOS drawing apps in scaling, unfortunately. It's basically the only major flaw in the entire program, IMHO.
Even if I scale down it gets all fucked up 😣
Thanks for your video, explaining the issue clearly. It looks the solution is let it blurry then fix it (?). I have tried to find a solution, that is, avoid the blurry when drawing very subtle details of the face in portrait sketch, after I scale the image up ( in order to draw precisely). Is this possible, thanks for any suggestion.
Really helpful! I always wanted to get rid of this blury pixelation. Thanks a lot👍🏻
I have the pixel even on format 618x618 (projet school), every single brush...all the edges
how can i change the pixel of a brush itself please? Unless there is another solution? Thank you.
In photoshop I always work at 6k on long end and 200dpi and its very high res image.i can zoom in quite far in without getting the blurriness. Not the case on iPad for some reason :/ and when I export these files they lose quality as well. No scaling involved whatsoever.
what I dont get is when I use a procreate stamp to add tattoos onto my art work I size it down to fit and when I use it then it becomes pixelated but at its larger size its not blurry. I don't get why this is an issue if I'm going down and not up in size.
I not only appreciate how concise this is but how helpful it is! Your walk through with this one task has taught me several Procreate fundamentals! Thank you so much for creating and sharing this awesome video!!!! :-)
To be honest, this doesn’t help much.
I found my own solutions. Once the object is resized, I use “Sharpen” to clean out the details but not always work because of the ‘noise’ or specks but better than nothing.
But as for the blurry edges, I select the outside of the object and delete the outer edges, duplicate the same layer so the edges darken or widen. Merge together, select outside and delete the outer edges and repeating the process until it looks good as it can be.
This is the MOST helpful one yet! Also, once you've fixed the blur, you can fix the noise by creating a clipping mask above it and color it in with the color you were sketching with.. sure beats redrawing a whole detailed hand all over again. 🙄
@@noctia_art Thanks.
I have another add method. Go to your layer box, select the desired, then click on select button and click inverse, this way, it can select hard place. And then use the select-delete-duplicate process.
I should’ve to mentioned that it work the same with outlines but be sure to do this process before fill with color, not just to look good but prevent the color from spilling out. Make your outlines are ‘sharp’ and solid.
And be sure to duplicate more outlines as back-up if the current one messed.
This is so helpful! Thank you!
Hi, even scaling down also make blur borders to me in procreate which is very frustrationg...
What if I have drawn something and didn't scale it up or down but its already pixelated? What can I do?
what if i needed to use a bfdi wiki asset but it was low definition aka low quality and if i scaled it up when i remade it it looked weird
For animation I need to duplicate my groups, and rotate them for animation, but they get blury. I have to «Redraw» everything? What would you do with a really complicated group of layers?
Rotation shouldn't give you too much blurriness unless you're working super small - I'd create your artwork larger from the beginning (and never scale it up as you work) - that should help!
can you do one where you scale down. ive accidently made something on a big canvas and need to make it smaller without it becoming pixel like
Nest way is to use a really large canvas like 3000x3000. With 300 dpi
I noticed if you change the scaling interpolation to bicubic, I don’t see any pixels.
Omg thank you this worked for me! 😍
Where is that in the app?
I have blurry edges when drawing, my brushes just have edges that aren't clean. Idc if I see pixels I just don't want blurry ones
How to change DPI in iPhone? Please answer
This video was very useful! Thanks a lot!
Great video! Thanks!
Am I able to soften the edges without re-drawing the icon
I get blurry edges when I size down in Procreate. Any idea why this is happening?
Hey! It's likely you're creating your artwork at too small a size to begin with (this makes pixels more obvious) - I'd recommend creating a larger canvas size and creating your artwork on that canvas at a larger size. Remember to view it zoomed out - if you zoom up tight to something it will always show those pixels, so you want to make sure you're looking at it at a distance others will be seeing it 👍
What it you drawing big then make it small? I did that and still it’s blurry.
I need to learn this since I design itasha wraps for cars 😵💫😵💫😵💫 resizing is hell
What ipad is this? Can someone share a link to this exact one?
Apple - 12.9-Inch iPad Pro $$$
If blurry try changing the option from nearest neighbour to bilinear or bicubic
Whoever I rotate or scale a drawing upon down (even just a little) the lines get really pixelated and chunky, how do I stop that?
@Angel
Thank you so much
What is the largest size possible to create in Procreate?
Sheila Lewis-Lorum The largest artboard I can create is 18” x 22.5” at 400dpi. This only gives you 4 layers to play with so it takes some good organization to create a complex artwork. Hope this helps 🤓
Teela, i have another problem when i use brush to circle and fill that circle it show some line at the edges. can you help me to fix this
You can adjust the threshold of the fill to fix the line edges; When you fill in the shape with the color, don’t release for a few seconds. This will allow you to move left and right and adjust how much fill you want done. The faster you move left or right, the more adjustments the threshold will make. When you release, procreate will keep it’s adjustment threshold, for the next time you do this technique. If you mess up on the threshold adjustment, you can undo the adjustment, and try again, because it’s saved the threshold from the previous attempt.
Thanks Vic! Exactly what I would suggest!
Vectorize with Creative Capture 👍🏼 then scale up in any vector app.
what is Creative Capture
Awesome thank you
I get blurry lines even while I’m drawing ... not sure why. I’m not blowing anything up
try the quality of the procreate project to be higher
me too
Every time I auto fill a circle or any object it looks pixelated.. uhh please help!
That doesnt help my situation. I am not trying to make anything bigger. It is just pixelated while I'm drawing. I have been copying and pasting quite a bit. Can that do it? multiple merges?? My canvas is 2700 x 2250 and 300dpi.
I see- its when I'm duplicating things. Each duplicatiin makes them lower quality. I'm using bicubic because anther you tube said that's better but it's still fuzzy
y'all, just start with the rough line art, then scale it. Redraw it. Then color.
Brilliant 🔥💯🔥
I am drawing my images big and shrinking them down and my lines are still blurry.....
what canvas size do you use
hopelina a good square is 7200x7200
Scaling down lettering in procreate that I make in another app for a comic book comes out blurry. Not sure how to fix this.
It's likely the art created in the other app was made at a lower res, so even scaled down, it's not meeting the resolution of the procreate doc
@@EveryTuesday there's actually a known issue in the software. I looked it up in their help forum. Hopefully they debug it in the ext update but before that I'll have to use photoshop.
Ah, gotcha. Yes, fingers crossed they fix it soon!
Try rasterizing it
It would help but I’m a realism artist and don’t wanna redraw a whole portrait
Can I avoid blurry edges on small canvas?
Increase your DPI in the settings when you make a new canvas. You can't change it with an already existing canvas
Thanksssssssssssssssss ❤️❤️❤️❤️
For me it blurs even if i scale it down, but the most annoying is when turn it, it becames sooo blurry. I dont understand.
If you create your artwork at a larger size, it will be less noticeable (when something has fewer pixels/is smaller, it tends to blur much more on rotation)
@@EveryTuesday Sorry but this is not true. I always make artwork in 300DPI, at sizes such as 18x24 inches. It doesnt matter what size you do it at in procreate, when you rotate the image it becomes jagged/blurry. Its so frustrating, its the one thing thats stopping me from using this over photoshop.
I can't turn anything without it becoming blurry
Same! Have you found how to fix this(
Sorry but this doesn’t help because when I draw it’s already blurry
You'll need to work at a larger size (canvas and brush size) if that's the case
You might aswell just copy it bigger
I need to find a procreate tutorial where it shows off camera/canvas assets not deleting in layers when it goes off the bounds.
I don't like having to redraw as objects start coming in, just to get started, and working backwards kinda makes sense, but I just don't wanna delete what goes off the screen.
That's unfortunately just how Procreate works right now - anything you push off the canvas gets cropped.
🤦♂️
A
this isn't a resize without losing quality.. this recreating the image from scratch.
most unhelpful.
I want my 4:15 minutes back
this was useless 😭 you just said to redraw it LMAO
