These are both beautiful. Looks like a good project to loose oneself for hours in fun. These bring back memories of many happy years spent creating "art afternoons", projects of almost every description thought up by my mom to keep us kids occupied and quiet back in early 1960's Palo Alto, California.
those brushes look amazing ,i have a weakness for new brushes ,i like both but the 2nd one wins for me i love bright colors ,i got out my round stencil to try this with a moon ,love ya
Thank you so much for doing a tutorial on this! I was one of the people who requested it and I love it! I will be trying this out myself for sure. I recently bought some frames at a second hand shop and I want to fill them with home made artwork. Thank you again 🤍
Love this. I'd try it with a shape of my state, but not today. There's nothing celestial about Indiana today. Rainy, windy and 39°F. So maybe next spring! Neat technique and fun project! Happy Thanksgiving tomorrow!
Your comment about using brushes with one medium made sense… and downgrading .. gouache to watercolor but not vice versa. I’m loving the Mimik travel brushes your recommended. Nice pointy brushes and so convenient to pack. Definitely going to try this, maybe with my Derwent ink sets? Watercolor first tho. I love your real-time watercolor/ink tutorials. Thanks Lindsay- enjoy your holiday.
Wow, Lindsay… both are amazing but the right greeting card version grabs me as the cloudy nebula looked very realistic. Thank you, and ‘Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family!’ 🎉❤🥧✨💜🙏🏾🍁☮️
Love this think I will make a few up use as Christmas stars with maybe the manger scene under this star think it would look rather fabulous. Have a nice rest of the week.
Hope this context helps, Lindsay - Micador's "Brilliant Watercolours" in white discs are the same as the Koh-I-Noor "Anilinky" watercolours in black discs sold in the rest of the world. They're basically aniline dye-based ink in pan form which is what makes them so fun and water-reactive! However, the watercolours Micador sell in black interlocking disc palettes are not the same as Koh-I-Noor's black disc Anilinky paints; they're a lower-quality chalkfest! In essence, if you see Koh-I-Noor in black palettes, they're the same, but if it's Micador in black palettes, they're different. Confusing, I know.
So I ended up buying both. Watercolor in black disks and “anilinky” in black disks. Though in US Amazon both are available, “anilinky” are the real inky ones, other one is chalkfest, which I returned. So if it says anilinky and is around $15/16, that’s same as this Micador but other one is $10 but not even worth that much. I can provide link if you want, Lindsay. :)
I have found them in the U.K. they are £8 a disk and £55 for 48 colours…definitely an investment for after Christmas ❤Totally love the card, I love to see watercolouring using the darker colours…
I have good luck with uniball signo broad gel pens. An extra fine posca ir a gelly roll might work better for you. I think climate affects them, people in arid climates say gelly rolls work better for them.
Hullo Lindsay, I enjoyed watching this star come together! I do wonder if it would have fit better on an angle? I know some people would never put it askew on the front of a card but it would be more dynamic. I have had pretty good success sending watercolor post cards through the mail after I coat them with Dorlands Wax. I have asked recipients of cards in the past how it came through the postal service chain and I only ever had 1 go wacky! My nephew who was stationed in Iraq said the wax had melted off! SO it does not work with every climate but that was the only time and he did get others that got through just fine, I just never sent him postcards in the summer after that time! Thanks for giving this away to us. I know it wold have done very well on your teachable site and earned you some cash for the holiday's You are so generous and it is appreciated, Thank You and Happy Holidays to you and your family!
I like the sketchbook version best, both they're both pretty. Btw, Amazon sold out of your travel brushes! This was a fun project, easy, with a sense of accomplishment. Thank you for the tutorial, Lindsay. Happy Thanksgiving! :)
The Viviva colours would work well too, don't you think? I don't have these Koh-i-Noor ones, but Viviva is also ver inky, in my opinion. It is a beautiful star / galaxy, Thanks for this. I always need inspiration for inky watercolours!
Love this. Prefer the sketch book one. I just got some Inktense blocks but don't know how I would get the lovely soft edged white like yours. With gouache? or the white Inktense and would I put it on after the dark blue has dried or while it's still wet?
Heya Lindsay, thanks for another great tutorial. One question, I have a couple watercolor sets but nothing artist grade. I do have the sonnet watercolors, the Gansi Tambi and a Marie's fan out set, would those work or would I be better to use my Dr. Martins bombay india ink instead??
I think to make the template a little smaller for at least linear designs you could use washi tape to make it a little smaller using the template lines as guides to make it straight.

Thank you! 😊
Both are great but I think my favourite is the first one you did. Purple is my favourite colour.
I loved the first one & my daughter loved the second one , she is 11 she said the brighter colors was what made it. We’re going to give this a try.
Have fun!

Perfect!
Stunning. Micador paints came handy :) remind me of my childhood in slovakia. Everyone had the koh I noors. Beautiful paintings. I love them both.
Thank you very much!
Beautiful stars...I love the effect! I love them both, but if I had to pick...the left one. 🥰I will be trying this one. Thanks Lindsay!
You’re welcome 😊
I like the bright one!

I love the 2nd one the best...ty!!❤
Thanks Lindsay. Love this. Always looking for card ideas.
Thanks!

Same here! I woke up to snow and now it's pouring out! I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving, Jim!
Both are so beautiful 🤩 ❤
Really cool idea. I love travel brushes too. Always looking for new ones to add to the collection.
Glad you like them!

I love them both! Can’t wait to try this.
Yay!
Like 'em both for variety. I think I will try the technique using a Christmas ball or 2 on a card- thanks once again, and Happy Thanksgiving!!
Wonderful!

Thanks so much! Happy Thanksgiving 😊

Great idea!
I was thinking similarly - the Star of Bethlehem or a simple cross
this is gorgeous, love it so much ❤❤❤
Thank you so much!!
Gorgeous! Happy almost Thanksgiving!
Thank you! You too!
I prefer the newer one with the brighter colors but both are beautiful.
Thanks!
Very pretty Lindsay, this lends itself to so many fun shapes, I learned so much watching this!
I'm so glad!
An out of this world design! Love them both❤
Thank you 😊
Off to paint some celestial Christmas ornaments. Really pretty effect and looks like a relaxing project. Thanks for the idea Lindsay.
Great idea!
I like your first one best.
Thanks for voting
My pleasure, I miss your watercolour tutorials. I don't like watching switching.
Great project Lindsay. Looking forward to trying it myself.
Have fun!

All the black disk koh I noor palettes I see in America are cheap and chalky looking. It's so confusing. I don't want people to buy them by mistake.

This reminds me of really looking at the Milky Way in Northern Minnesota. Beautiful. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family.
Same to you!
Really pretty! Thanks Lindsay!
You are so welcome!
Love them ❤ Thank you ❤

Thanks for sharing!!
Love the salt affect. I like ur first one the best. Those white gel pens are mostly maddening for me. More times than not, they don’t work.
I have good luck with uniball signo broad gel pens. An extra fine posca ir a gelly roll might work better for you. I think climate affects them, people in arid climates say gelly rolls work better for them.
I love how you are creating a 3d dimension especially on the left leg area. So cool! 💕✨
Thank you! 😊

I tried turning the stencil and it didn't fit better so I kept it straight. Happy Thanksgiving!

Oh thank you! I'm not surprised on the brushes, there was only 25 in stock when I bought them. Hopefully they restock, they are nice!

Oh yes!
I like it. Nice! I'll have to try it sometime 👍 I think I like the 2nd one just a tad better too.
Thanks, Nancy!
I love your art so much ❤
Aww, thanks!
Gorgeous !!!!
Thank you! Cheers!
Very beautiful 🥰😀
Thank you so much 😊

Use the blocks, just use a paintbrush to apply, wet in wet for the first layer then let it dry before painting on the tiny stars with a small brush.
@@thefrugalcrafter Thank you
Heya Lindsay, thanks for another great tutorial. One question, I have a couple watercolor sets but nothing artist grade. I do have the sonnet watercolors, the Gansi Tambi and a Marie's fan out set, would those work or would I be better to use my Dr. Martins bombay india ink instead??
The sonnets will wok the best I think but they will all do the trick:)
I think to make the template a little smaller for at least linear designs you could use washi tape to make it a little smaller using the template lines as guides to make it straight.
Good idea!
Now I know if I try this? I shall recreate a Missisippi Mud Cake! Ah I know? Try to create the Mississipi Mud Cake , reverse psychology!
You got this, just don't let the colors mingle too much and keep color friends together:)

🥰💛🧡❤💙💜🥰⭐
Would Qor be a good paint for this project?
Absolutly!
