I just finished the Origins episode of Crafts in America, which celebrates the pssing on of skills. Your series of videos is solidly in that great tradition. I just want say how deeply grateful I am for all the thought and effort you've put into all the videos that youve created and shared so generously over the years.
I really liked the last one you said you were overworking!!😊Thanks so much! I haven’t watched you for a year plus and boy! You have REALLY lightened up!! Good job. You’ve always been a great painter but pretty stiff. I enjoyed this a lot! I’m glad I got to see you more relaxed! 🤓 Have a great Thanksgiving!
I'm new to watercolor-this is my first Christmas, and my first attempts at Christmas cards. I have to say, these are AWESOME and I really appreciate your teaching style. Thank you!
Thank you, your experience makes it all look so easy. This video really clicked in my brain, I now have a better ideal how a fan brush can be used. I don’t have a cat’s tongue I may add it now. I love these simple limited pallet painting.
"I don't wanna overwork it, I'll just add this here... and this here... and that's it! Oh y'know what, I'll just add this here... and this, oh it looks really cool, I'll just add it to a few...oh y'know what, let's totally overwork it cuz it's ruined now anyway" - every freaking watercolorist ever >< hehehe And yet you totally nailed it :)
This is great for a beginner like me. A great idea to get acquainted with brushes. I love the idea you taught us about tools and produce something to gift as well. Thank you, fan from Toronto Canada ❤️
I mainly only do cards or nothing bigger than 8 x 10. Never thought to use the corner pieces, I will look for them.. I usually use double sided tape on coloured card stock. I love the cards, I need to use my fan brush more.
This was so fun! I only had a 12 round so I used heavier pressure to flatten the shape. I used DS buff titanium for distant trees behind with Moonglow layered in lighter and darker overlapping. I did 2. One with silver and one with white gel pen tree branches. A border with grey Derwent Watercolour pencil. Turned out nice! Thanks, I needed a project today to try my DS paints. I forgot to do wet area at bottom but I just took a wet brush after and brought down some shadows. Oh well, I'll do it again and again! 😊
Thank you Sir! You are such an inspiration to me! I get excited when you seemed to get surprised about a stroke! I do enjoy your teaching very much! Love from Florida
I love the way you dealt with the last one … Great fun 😉 I have one fan brush I never used … but will give it a try 🙏🏻 thank you for this very enjoyable video 🤗💖
This is so interesting, my cat walked on my laptop and the sound was muted. I thought the ones in the front were people and it was people going into a grove of trees in the rain! HAHAHA! I am going to try this - just got a cat's tongue brush. Thank you!
Greetings from the UK. Thank you so much for this excellent idea. I enjoy your videos, they give me loads of inspiration which is very much appreciated sometimes!
Thank you! and a request: I would love to see a video that covers how to mix enough paint, whether you're using reactivated from your palette, or fresh from the tube -- and then, do you leave the extra paint on your palette to use later? I now have several mixing surfaces (plates, etc) full of paint I didn't use up and keeping track of everything is not working well! I need help with management of materials, etc.
Thank you, Steve, this was such fun! Mark making is so essential for a beginner - like me - and you have just demonstrated how useful it can be. I love your videos and although most of them are completely out of my reach, I always learn from you. Thank you for being such a super tutor!
These are so FUN, and the finished cards are wonderful. I just finished my first one, and I'm going to mail it tomorrow. Excellent project Steve, and your instructions are soooo easy to follow. LOVE IT!
HA! I love those fan brush fir trees! @The Mind of Watercolor, I'd heard, sadly, that the Bee Paper was discontinued but haven't yet looked into it. Thank you for sharing, Steve!
You can still get the individual sheets but not the watercolor sketchbooks. Bee was supposedly bought out and supposed to have product available again but don't know what the status is on all that.
Thank you, Steve, for such a nice long demo video! I've learned SO much from your tutorials. Reese at the beginning always makes me smile and scripture at the end is the cherry on top! Merry Christmas to you and your family! ❄️🎄
Love these ideas. I think I will try the first example but with autumn colours - might be interesting! Also have never used my fan brush - your technique looks very accessible! Thank you!
Really love these ideas. Just ordered some supplies! What size is your fan brush? Do you like the full set of Etchr brushes? As postcards is there a sealant you should use to the drawing so it doesn’t get damaged?
I have watched you for a long time. Graham is my choice of watercolor paint Please tell the colors that would be good for me to set up my palette with. I would appreciate you getting back to me on the colors. I have also invested in the Silver Black Velvet brushes
My core favorites are show in this video, BUT doesn't necessarily mean they have to be yours. There is a lot of flexibility in color selection. Some depends on what subjects you want to paint. ua-cam.com/video/SbofGEIU7SA/v-deo.html
I did here. Any card stock will do. Just make sure it fits a standard size envelope and you'll be fine. These were 5x7" overall. Easy to find an envelope for that.
At this point (6:31) your marks look like a bunch of ghosts at a family gathering 😄
Green snowflakes LOL. Enjoy watching your teachings

Thanks so much Wynne! I've seen the show and it's very cool that you include me as part of that tradition.
Ditto that here, too ❤🎉😊

This was very doable from a 1st timer sending out my own home made holiday cards. Ty
Fan brush makes good palm trees too.😀
I do enjoy your demonstrations, but really enjoy when you seem surprised and pleased with your brush strokes. Merry Christmas Bud to you and yours.
I absolutely love your demonstration. Will try today. So cool.
Great ideas for creative cards that are doable
Really enjoyed this video!!! Inspiring!
Love the fan brush trees and marks- thanks so much for some great ideas
Need more of these, Steve, please 😄
Thanks Steve. That was fun! Merry Christmas 🎅
I'm new to watercolor-this is my first Christmas, and my first attempts at Christmas cards. I have to say, these are AWESOME and I really appreciate your teaching style. Thank you!
Fan brush does incredible palm fronds

😁
Always enjoyable. Merry Christmas.
Always so helpful!!! I wish my upper back and neck gave me more time to paint!!!! RtR!!!
I made some messy trees, but it was fun. Thank you for giving permission to play with my cat’s tongue , a brush I like, but seldom use.
I've had a couple of fan brushes for years but didn't know all they can do! Thank you!
This is great for a beginner like me. A great idea to get acquainted with brushes. I love the idea you taught us about tools and produce something to gift as well. Thank you, fan from Toronto Canada ❤️
Great ways to “play” with watercolor paint & brushes! Thank you for sharing.😊
Wonder of the Winter !!! Love it, is so Great effects you use and so so Pretty !❣👍🙂❣!
Wow! Very nice cards! Thanks Steve!
Lots of inspiration. Thanks Steve!
Beautiful and informative. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you SO much for showing us how our fan brushes and cat tongues can work. My technique is improving and I may be ready to try these again.
I mainly only do cards or nothing bigger than 8 x 10. Never thought to use the corner pieces, I will look for them.. I usually use double sided tape on coloured card stock. I love the cards, I need to use my fan brush more.
Great job again sir, both in tutoring as well as in end result. Love your style!

I really like the soft look of these trees, thankyou for sharing the various brushes and what they can do. Very helpful tips.😊❤
Thank you sooo much for this card idea!!! so simple! but expressive!!
That was the most creative fun using a fan brush I have seen! Thank you as always for your demonstrations.
Personally, I've had problems figuring out how to use the fan for a long time. This was very helpful, so maybe I won't throw mine away. 😅
The third one is my favorite. Thank you so much for this demo!
Always love your videos!!! Thank you. Merry Christmas
Love the 3rd one! Great idea. Can’t wait to try
Thank you. Amazing tutorial. 👏🏻🎄
Cool! Never thought to use my fans that way!!
So fun. Really enjoyed!!!!
Thank you Sir! You are such an inspiration to me! I get excited when you seemed to get surprised about a stroke! I do enjoy your teaching very much!

Well, of course I have to try this. Very nice!
I love the way you dealt with the last one … Great fun 😉 I have one fan brush I never used … but will give it a try 🙏🏻 thank you for this very enjoyable video 🤗💖
I love this ! Thank you for teaching this technique I’m going to try it! 💗💗💗
Great ideas, painting cards is my practice technique as well as for gifts. Love the fan brush pines !
I really REALLY enjoyed watching this. Stress free exploration!!! I’m going to HAVE to do this!!! Thanks!
I am in awe with your Christmas Cards, they adorable.
This was so relaxing and satisfying to watch. Thanks, Steve:)
Nice Mind..what a great lesson, thanks..
I love the fan brush technique for creating the pines. And for creating the ground!
This was fun to watch and will give this a try! Thank you.
You are such a great teacher Steve! So glad I discovered your channel.
This was great, I have never really made friends with the fan brush, I am eager to give this a try! Thanks, Merry Christmas!
Thank you so much Steve. I love this. Merry Christmas from Australia 🎄

Thank you! Merci beaucoup!!!
Great lesson!
What a great idea! Thanks for sharing.
Thank you...great ideas!
Fantastic ideas, I love the colour of the first one, but I think the second is my favourite 😄
This is so much fun!!! Thank you!
Very similar to 1950s - 60s Scandinavian motifs.
Thank you, Steve! This is another great one, very useful, simple and beautiful. (And it was nice to see Reese, too. Bob says "hi.")
Спасибо! Ваши влоги, ваши рисунки, шикарны. Я счастлива , что имею возможность смотреть ваши работы!🥰
Thanks
thanks for the support!
I loved this, thank you.

I am still such a newb but these types of vids are so wonderful.....so helpful. Can't wait to get started on this! Tfs
Simply beautiful and beautifully simple! Thank you for sharing this. Wishing you and your family a blessed Christmas 🎄

Reactivated from the palette almost always. This video shows how I mix paint. How much can vary quite a lot. ua-cam.com/video/xSp2qNBvMSo/v-deo.html
@@mindofwatercolor Thank you for your reply - and the link to your video included was perfect.
Thanks, these are beautiful and a great way to practice marks! Thank you Steve!
Love these simple lessons you do. Great exercises with a simple and pretty result. Thanks as always Steve.
I recently switched to watercolors and am obsessed! Love your techniques and teaching ❤ thank you!
Thanks so much for some simple wonderful ways to create Christmas cards. I hope you and your family have wonderful holidays.

Loved it! You've given me great ideas as a springboard to some subjects I've been struggling to figure out how to get down on paper.
Thank you!!! Love it!❤

This to day. Thanks
Wow! Totally fun! 🌲🎄🌲
So much great advice!!! You are so kind to share what you/ve learned!
Thank you, Steve, for such a nice long demo video! I've learned SO much from your tutorials. Reese at the beginning always makes me smile and scripture at the end is the cherry on top! Merry Christmas to you and your family! ❄️🎄
While I really enjoyed Steve's videos and learned a TON, those two (Reese and scripture) were the clinchers for me. 😁
Great tutorial 🔥
That's awesome!!!
Love these ideas. I think I will try the first example but with autumn colours - might be interesting! Also have never used my fan brush - your technique looks very accessible! Thank you!
Very cool!
What fun!

Sizes aren't standard on fans. Just keep it on the smaller side for better control.
I recommend using an envelope. No need to seal them.
so nise and cool
thanks
Thank you 🤗
🎺Merry Christmas
Those are really cute
Fantastic
I like how I always say to myself, this looks simple, I'll try it and then create a complete mess

Do you make your own cards, Steve? I did years ago. I’m too lazy now🤷🏻♀️
It appears he did by using some card stock that he cut to size that he showed. I'm going to try
I did here. Any card stock will do. Just make sure it fits a standard size envelope and you'll be fine. These were 5x7" overall. Easy to find an envelope for that.
@@mindofwatercolor thanks Steve
