As a criminal psychologist, I can tell you that while upbringing can influence the development of a serial killer, it is never the sole cause. Many individuals endure far more traumatic childhoods than Ted Bundy’s and still become productive members of society without ever engaging in criminal behavior. The primary driver in most cases is sexual deviance, which can stem from various factors.
In my experience, many offenders began using pornography at a young age, which desensitized them to normal sexual stimuli and led them to seek more extreme forms of pornography to achieve the same level of excitement. Similar to how a drug addict escalates to more potent substances, these individuals often develop dark fantasies that eventually manifest in real-world actions, seeking out the most morally reprehensible outlets for their urges-murder and desecration of bodies.
Lust murderers (serial killers like Bundy, Dahmer, and Gacy) is one of the most significant categories of killers. With the increasing accessibility of pornography, I fear that the number of serial killers will rise in the coming years. Social media may exacerbate this trend, potentially giving rise to even more dangerous individuals. I hope I'm wrong, but the signs are troubling.

I believe some ppl are born "bad". Or have genetical problems from birth which have the potential for severe mental and behavioral problems later on. When these ppl experience some forms of abuse or traumatic events in childhood, this can trigger the already present nefarious genes. Not every child who is abused or experiences severe trauma at an early age turns out to be a sociopath, a psychopath, or serial killer....But ALMOST ALL serial killers etc. is abused or traumatized as a child.

There are studies showing children with loving parents trying to kill their parents. Plus so many adolescents killed loving parents. Don't know about serial killers past, but some psycopaths don't need abuse to kill. Also ted bundy as far as i know had loving women around him. He was loved and a loved child loves back. Given the prejudices those days, an adolescent could have easely accepted he was 'tricked' bc that secret had to be kept away from public. He was not abused by women. I know men with loving mothers and abusive fathers who in turn become abusive to their nice caring wifes. It's fathers fault, a little boy will internalize his male adult caretaker.

@@anonymoose116 ASPD, anti social personality disorder - aka Psychopathy is an inborn issue. The debate was settled in the late 90’s, as that is when brain scan could show the necessary detail to researchers to prove the fundamental differences between a neurotypical and neurodivergent brains. Psychopaths have an underdeveloped pre frontal cortex, which is where many of emotion and feeling centers of the brain are. They also universally present with underdeveloped amygdala’s, which is related to low emotion, low impulse control, but it is even more importantly it is where the fight or flight response develops. People born with ASPD across the board have little to no feeling and poor impulse control. They are much less fearful than their neurotypical counterparts. However they are logical and calculating. A good environment may very slightly impact the development of a psychopath, but there are thousands of cases where parents that were perfectly good to their children ended up with absolute monsters and there is nothing they could’ve done to change it.

Then his mother moves with him and marries and has three other children. When his mother was on the witness stand in court, she seems very odd to me. None of this is any excuse at all!! Then you throw in the unknown father, possibly his grandfather? Much much more went on in this family then he said or the mother said! Pornography was just an excuse, he wanted to con that minister.

Rough childhoods happen all the time though. My best friends dad left their family of four boys to marry a woman with four kids and then
came back later. My friend drove him around to his medical appointments as he was dying and then he left everything to his step kids.
He didn't go nuts and start chopping people up. Bundy would put makeup and lipstick on severed heads. That depravity isn't taught. That's being born evil

Ted Bundy said that his exposure to porn as a young boy would be in the neighbors trash he told Dr. James Dobson in his last interview, hours before his execution that porn had played a big role in his life and he was wanting to help Dr Dobson on his mission to have stricter laws about the distribution of pornographic material. He said it's evil and leads to nothing good if the right person with the wrong intentions gets access to it. He already had issues with women because of his mother and porn just makes women look like the trash he thought they were. He said if he hadn't found those magazines things may have went completely different in his life. Who knows? But that's what he said. And I agree, porn is disgusting and something is wrong with people that have to watch other people have sex. It's belittling towards women and they are usually in magazines and on film to support a drug habit and just survive. No one in their right mind says I want to have sex with hundreds of men for a career and be treated like trash and abused by the creeps in these movies. You have to act and allow men to treat you like garbage because even they don't have any respect and I guess there's no point when a woman has no self-respect and no porn star has self-respect I don't care what they say. That's almost funny if it weren't so tragic. Those women were someone's child at one time. But someone took hold of their life and ruined it.

Its full of women that love to host thousands of men genitals and that love to have countless orgasms and being payed and famous for it. Women are no angels, they are way more materialistic than men generally, and have less dignity.
Open any social and you will see how women are obsessed with sex and body exposure since a very early age.
They exploit men on onlyfans etc. by being total thots without shame. Many are also masochists, and love the DARK TRIAD: narcissism-machiavellianism-psychopathy.
The philosopher Weininger made interesting observations about women.

U are right about women who are subjected to this kind of horrendeous abuse. Also, i don't think a sane man can enjoy watching other people being intimate, let alone anjoy a man using a woman for his pleasure. Even if most of them enjoy porn or pay women for pleasure, that doesn't make them whole decent kind humans. Who would want that to their mothers and daughters? All of us women are God's creatures. As for ted bundy, his mother LOVED him. Ted knew women would have been harshly judged for having a child out of wedlock. An adolescent would have understood and accepted that. As for porn, many children like it, my scool mates started watching at 11 or 12 years old. If porn would turn boys into serial killers, then the raping and killing of women would become legal, simply because most men would do it. Does it make sense? As for the final interview, ted was looking for a naive person to save him from death penalty. That man who came and emphatized with ted, really believed ted, that porn was to blame. He was very very naive. One short look caught on camera shows ted's eyes were mischevious. During the interview he had a repenting face, but never straightforward said he was to blame - repenting people openly admit it. He kept saying he was not looking for excuses, all the while acting the opposite way by blaming it all on porn. Towards the end of the interview, that man pitied him but never said he would ask for the death penalty to be removed. For a second time, for less than a second ted looked at that man with pure hatred, disgust and RAGE that even though he wasted so much time explaining, the old fool never thought of helping him. That man was only happy his theory that porn was dangerous was acknowleged, he pitied bundy but believed his death was necessary to pay for his sins. Oh, that look on budy's face! his face twisted from evil, he had just an evil dark look! I will always remember it, i have never seen a face distorted and darkened by evil to that extent! That face!

I read his story and a friend in the neighborhood mocked him and told him he was a bastard, born out of wedlock. But his mother and grandparents, telling him all his childhood that his mother was his sister, to him was deceptive, and traumatic.. In a sense, which is true, he was lied to. He felt betrayed. He didn't know who his real dad was. His mom was a teenager mother., and to cover up the family scandal, the grandparents adopted him. Was that enough to kill all those young women? No.. but in his mind, the rage, and betrayal was so overwhelming mentally. He acted out as an adult by deceiving the young women, and killing them. A false sense of power or control, something he never had as a child. He really wanted to killl his mom for denying and lying to him. But who kills their mom. Right? Instead he kills young women who resembled his Mom. He just went crazy. and went on a killing spree until he got caught. So sad

Exactly! It is usually having people who abused or neglect a child and/or even just watching an abuser abuse your own mom or grandma or family member, and no one helping stop the abuse, by restoring the family together again! Police and courts make things worse! A real bible believing Church should be helping reunite and hold families accountable to follow Christ! It could even be a Church or “friends” or other family or police or others who divide the family by enabling abuse and neglect of children like Bundy! Usually it is that a child or young adult or even an adults is being treated like an idol (no Christlike accountability) and therefore they become spoiled and feel entitled, and this leads people to become abusive!

But I think that this is not an excuse for what he did to all those poor young women he met years later as an adult . Perhaps he needed therapy but I guess nobody was interested in him . I think loneliness was a big part of his life and personality , he shrank into depression and he never got out of it not really . As a kid any human being needs a role model to grow up and become an adult but in his case … who was the role model ? Nobody . So how could he have learned to trust anybody …
