"In this video, a mother humpback whale is freed from a fishing net and swims away with her calf. Heading to the second dive spot for the day, Captain Faizel and Dive leader Jeannot spotted a whale calf jumping frantically in the distance. We decided to veer off and check it out closer. When we got in the water, all we could focus on was this gigantic fishing net covering the mother. The net was restricting the whale's movements and badly bruising the skin probably for days. The video shows the series of actions taken to remove the net. When we finished, we pulled the net in the boat and it weighed about half a ton, it was brought back to land and discarded. The whole process took one and a half hours approximately, luckily I remembered to press the record button on my head-mounted GoPro this time!"

Insane how dexterous these creatures are. Once she felt the diver's scuba tank she instantly realised he was there and immediately drove her tail in the opposite direction in order to avoid hitting him

or better simply someone who designs and markets a one way biologically dissolving fishing net that dissolves itself after 30 days.
Arthur Heidt I don’t know if it can be done, especially one that dissolves but doesn’t leave a negative impact on the oceans ecosystem.

Easier to redesign the net, eg Japan uses glass floats, to keep nets on the surface for retrieval.
Perhaps fishing boat should report the loss of the net.....
HUGE respect to you all involved. Not only is this an incredibly compassionate thing to be doing, but you have to be aware of so many things while doing this, and it takes some guts. I say this as an advanced Open Water Diver

I think it is Time to force fishing boats to number their nets everywhere....so whenever a net found....the boat must pay a lot....

2:55 AMAZING this guy wasn't killed. The whale could have hit him in the head easily, but was careful not to.
Which means the whale was VERY aware of humans and ensured they were not harmed.
