Usually whale rescuers are men. Most women do not have the physical strength required for the work and are not hard wired to take the risks necessary for the work. It really is men's work. That's just how it is. I hope I marry a man who does this sort of work personally. Sincerely, a realistic and rational woman.
Thank you for everything you do to try and help these magnificent animals. The whales behaviour and demeanour was so carefree and happy after you rescued them.

Yeah, very dangerous rescue. Sperm whales can stun and even kill you with their sonar. Just them wanting to get a good look at you could be fatal... the sound is so powerful, it can vibrate you to death. A researcher once tried to push off with one hand against one that got too close, and it stunned his arm so badly that he couldn't move it for 5 hours.
These guys are so brave; this is so dangerous. These great creatures have so much power; one movement of a flipper could absolutely destroy the divers. Thanks to them for their courage and kindness.
Sperm whales do not eat great whites or people. They eat giant squid, octopus and such. They also know when someone has good or ill intentions toward them. Hence the stories of them attacking whalers yet being completely placid and cooperative when being rescued like this. Sperm whales are my other mates as well as humpbacks. And I really admire the men who do this work. These are real men... kind and masculine at the same time.
scanjet1000 Of course not. Im fact there are no record of sperm whales willingly attacking humans, but the risk is not to get hit by their tail flip while they are struggling and trying to free themselves in panic. Luckily they seem to notice they are helped and stop moving too much But it's still risky, one accidential whip from a whales tail could crush a diver instantly. But on many occasions, whales were even cautious and stopped or turned to not run into divers in many encounters. It's amazing these huge animals even "care" enough and willingly tried to avoid to risk harming us tiny strangly swimming beings. They are much bigger so they simply could expect us to move for sure ! There were also cases when whales took humans or other small animals under their pectotal fin to hide and protect them when big sharks were around. Some say it's because they thought the humans being some sort of calfs, but i think they are too intelligent to mistake us for their offspring. We don't look like a calf, we smell and behave different and we don't make any similar noises. But they somehow decided we are worth to be protected anyways....Isn't it amazing?
That was a job well done, I’m so amazed at how, a big animal like that can keep itself calm, and carefully move so it doesn’t hurt the diver, God Bless em all
My first reaction is that if they had functioned like sharks, they would have already been dead being unable to swim. Great job saving these beautiful animals!
The whales calmly waited for the ILLEGAL NETS 😡to be cut off. They understood the humans were there to help. Amazing creatures of incredible intelligence.

That was amazing! Thank god for people like that. The last one to be freed truly looked grateful. My heart did break for those whales. Why do they have to go through that? It's time we started looking after earth and ALL its creatures!

Admirable. It took courage to rescue these animals. In the midst of their distress a diver easily might have been killed or injured quite by accident. Bravo!
Edward Batting How about the law demanding that all fishing gear be made of biodegradable materials as these nylon nets and lines last virtually forever and keep maiming and killing marine creatures.
That was an incredibly brave thing to do. Imagine how easy it would have been for one of the divers to get entangled a bit and one of the whales (particularly near the end) to dive quickly.
