    Wow, the first issue (question) I had was answered in the first minute which would be getting the gauge to fit perfectly in the slot. I'm sure there will be a lot of guys like me who have cheaper table saws with very loose fitting miter gauges who will love this product without spending $200 or more on other brands. I watched the rest of the video and very impressed. Thanks for the nice review!

    You used the Kreg as an example it also has the set screws to adjust for a tight fit. Like videos but sometimes a little one sided on your explanations.

    The miter gauge is expensive. But you forget all about that the moment you use it. It is essential for woodworking.

    I need to upgrade my table saw first...definitely would get that fence.

    Just got the combo. Only issue I have (so far) is that with the fence tilted 'away' from the blade the aluminum part of the fence has to be slid so far to the outside (to keep it from making contact with the blade) that the 3rd hold down screw's knob hits the knob that holds the fence to the gauge.

    I could not tell, but it looks like there is not a scale on top of the fence for the miter gauge stop. Could you please confirm if there is a scale on top of the fence.

    • @rockler
      @rockler  3 роки тому

      There is no scale on the top of the fence. However, you could add adhesive measuring tape, which you can find on our website at www.rockler.com/self-adhesive-measuring-tape

    How does this work with a craftsman table saw with wing in the slot.

    Will the miter gauge you show fit and work on the job site table saw from Dewalt DWE7491? Also during my research on miter saws, there was mention the Teflon screws were a problem can you speak to that either way?

    • @rockler
      @rockler  4 роки тому +1

      The bar on Rockler’s Precision Miter Gauge fits miter slots measuring 3/8” deep and 3/4” wide - it’s a fairly standard size on stationary table saws. However, some jobsite saws have smaller miter slots. Best advice is to measure the slot of the DWE7491 to see if it’s 3/8” x 3/4”.

    Why is the dust groove cut into the top of the melamine fence face? Shouldn’t it be on the bottom?

    • @rockler
      @rockler  Рік тому +1

      The top has a chamfer to break the edge so it isn't sharp. If the groove was at the bottom, it would no longer be zero clearance and you could get tear out while making cuts.

    How accurate are the angles? If they are off how to you correct it?

    • @rockler
      @rockler  3 роки тому +1

      Hi Steve, the miter gauge's scale is laid out with thin, single-degree demarcations, and a hairline cursor makes it easy to see which degree mark you're setting the gauge to. So, single-degree accuracy is reasonable here. There is no way to adjust the gauge's preset detents. But by retracting and locking the spring-loaded stop that sets the gauge to these detents, you could set and lock the gauge as close to the detent as you like by tightening the handle instead of using the stop feature.

    • @stevesiefken6432
      @stevesiefken6432 3 роки тому

      @@rockler So, if I understand correctly, you are saying that the gauge will always be, for example, 90 or 45 degrees (or whatever angle I set) from the miter slot on my table saw. Is that right?

    • @rockler
      @rockler  3 роки тому +2

      @@stevesiefken6432 Yes, the preset detents should accurately set the gauge's fence to the angles they indicate. While the detents can't be adjusted, they also can't reasonably be thrown out of adjustment either, unless the spring-loaded stop were to be significantly damaged in some way. The detents are cut into the gauge's steel plate and lock the stop positively at each angle setting.

    Curieux de l’essayer pour voir si l’écart de précision et de prix avec l’Incra fait pencher la balance vers Rockler.

    Does the fence have any type of measuring for length?

    • @rockler
      @rockler  3 роки тому

      Hi Jody, the fence accessory for Rockler's Precision Miter Gauge does not have a built-in scale. However, as soon as you cut through the fence when using it for the first time, the blade kerf in the fence board provides a convenient "zero" reference for measuring out from the blade to wherever the flip stop is set and locked.

      I'm having the same issue. Seems the locking detent is not a true 90 degrees to my miter slot. Can't recommend this product.

    No way to get perfect miters with a miter gauge. Build a miter sled, the errors cancel out.
