I always felt this to be a poignant reflection when you've reached a certain point later in your life, when you've lived it full and satisfactory, recalling all the good as well as the bad. But knowing that no matter what, you didn't live your life for anyone else but for you. And you lived it on your own triumphant terms.
This song was written for Frank Sinatra by Paul Anka, and was recorded in 1968. Frank would go on to live until well into the 1990s, so he wasn't near done at the time of this recording. I'm always amused by reactors who take the lyrics of these songs as if they're representative of the singer's actual state of mind. In most cases, the singer isn't even the writer of the song, and they're only there to interpret the song. Like an actor playing a role in a movie, it's usually not a non-fiction documentary about the singer's life. It's just a song they've chosen to record because it captures a thought or a mood that they think ought to be put out there. Don't read anything more into it than that. But make no mistake -- there was none better than Frank Sinatra. If there was a Mount Rushmore of male vocalists, Sinatra's face would be the first one they'd chisel into the mountain.
It's a literal road map for how to be a man, and how to end your career, and your life, with the utmost pride. Young people will never sing this song; but if they CAN'T, the will die with regret.
Mr Sinatra simply the Voice…A man A mic an attitude a great band ..Ol’ Blue Eyes…a Legend
I am in my 50’s & he was going when I was born.
Was written by Paul Anka. But it will always be Sinatra's song.

You listen to this and you understand why he was called "the voice".
Frank Sinatra asked Paul Anka write him a song before his retirement, so Paul Anka wrote "my way"for him for free.
Tshyeen, you might like Mr. Sinatra’s version of The Way You Look Tonight.
Cheers!
Now that’s some serious music not that shit today
A great. Thank you. I enjoy your videos. Eric
Everyone should want this to be played at their funeral
Paul anka wrote the words and used a French song just the music. It was written in 1968 for Frank Sinatra it was based on Sinatra life
This is his testament.
It's NOT sad; it's part of life.
Songs are much more than simply happy or sad; this is neither.
It's sort of melancholic yet vaguely triumphal.
One of the rat pack brilliant song
gracias
Fun fact: although it was his biggest hit Frank Sinatra hated this song. He felt it was too self-indulgent.
oh no
Yes, but he hated it all the way to the Bank lol. and it was probably the best vocal of his career.
You could react to the Elvis version of this, it’s by far my favourite. It sounds like he’s singing about his life.
Could u react to my way from Elvis from the aloah from Hawaii concert.
Are you interested in reacting to Tarzan The Fearless? It's a film that can be found on UA-cam
