Frank Sinatra was an American singer and actor. Nicknamed the "Chairman of the Board", Sinatra is considered one of the most popular entertainers of the 1940s, 1950s and 1960s. He is among the world's best-selling music artists, having sold an estimated 150 million records.
My parents loved Frank and I inherited that love. There have been better singers for sure, but no one could convey the meaning of a songs lyrics better than Frank Sinatra. He had so much respect for songwriters, he always told his audiences who wrote the song he was about to sing during his shows. I was fortunate to see him in Lake Tahoe more years ago than I care to remember. Don Rickles was his opening act. A night to remember. ❤️😄
Thank you for this reaction. I think you would love “One for My Baby”. It’s a song about lost love but sung in the way that only Frank could do it. It’s best to get the video performance.
Glad to see you young folks enjoying the greats! Favorite Frank song is Summer Wind. You are right about the vinyl...have all his much on LPs...old school
If you haven't already, listen to him in his prime,he sounded even more amazing. There's a very nice cover on America's Got Talent from Sal Valentinetti as well.
I can listen to Frank all day long! I was working at a standards radio station when he passed away it was an incredibly sad day for all of us and we played his music all day long and it was glorious! The perfect way to remember such an amazing artist
I'm a life long rock and roll, blues and R&B fan but Frank Sinatra is someone I have to revisit from time to time. You cant touch Ole Blue Eyes Frankie, he's the best.
My Mom love Frank and told me of the girls screaming at him. They were called 'bobby-socksers' They predated the girls screaming at the Beatles and Elvis Presley.
If you liked this, you would love "It Was A Very Good Year." Look for the black and white video of him actually recording the song in the studio with the orchestra playing all around him...in one take. Other noteworthy songs include "The Best Is Yet to Come," "Witchcraft," "I've Got You Under My Skin," and "All the Way." Then there are these from the '60s and '70s: "Strangers In the Night," "That's Life," "Somethin' Stupid" (his duet with his daughter Nancy), and his last big hit that plays every night at New York Yankees games, "Theme from New York, New York." I would be remiss if I didn't mention his daughter Nancy's biggest hit, "These Boots Were Made for Walking." It won't take much and you will fall in love with Frank Sinatra's music.
Hey, Chad. There is a live recording session with Sinatra as he sings his classic, IT WAS A VERY GOOD YEAR, in studio with friends in attendance. It is intimate. It is Sinatra at his best and gloriously black and white. The orchestra is led by Frank's notable collaborator Nelson Riddle. And the performance is perfect. Give it a listen. I think Dee will love it too. I believe his best song is I'VE GOT YOU UNDER MY SKIN. But one song at a time.
I saw one of his last tours at Radio City Music Hall in the late 80s. It was called The rat pack reunion but Dean Martin dropped out within a few weeks and it ended up Frank, Sammy and Shirley McClain. I'm a full fledged 60s and 70s music fan. I never envisioned going to see Frank but it was unreal seeing him in 1988 at the age of 73. His phrasing was still top shelf , his annunciation and command of The English language was that of a professor. I couldn't believe how good he still sounded as a 73 year old man but I guess that's why they call him The Voice!! Ive been to hundreds of concerts and have seen all the greats from the 60s,70s and 80s going back nearly 50 years. The reason I don't say greats after the 80s is because there really isn't much that compares to 60s and 70s other than groups from those decades still performing like The Stones or Clapton for example. Yet Frank a guy from from grandpa's day was one of the most nostalgic and still talented singer I've ever seen. The only guy today that could still sing in his 70s like Sinatra did back in 1988 is Paul Rodgers without a doubt!! Rodgers still sounds incredible and he can still hit the notes, still has great range and if you're looking to see a 1960s and 70s legend who still can sing, it's Paul Rodgers!!!! Don't wait too long because most everyone else from the glory days of Rock music can't sing worth a shit anymore. Their voices are shot!! Rodgers is shockingly still a tremendous vocalist , I am shocked at how great he still sounds!!! Jeff Lynne from ELO still sounds decent but Rodgers is The Frank Sinatra of Rock and Roll and Frank is beyond words and description!!! During one the last concert tours Sinatra gave at the age of 80 ,he had a very bad performance and instructed his manager to give all his fans their money back. I believe it was in Japan!! Say what you will but you will never see this type of music again and even if you get close, there will NEVER be another Sinatra!!!!!! He was a living legend and his voice still gives me the chills even after hearing it so many, many times!!! What a guy!!!
Ol' Blue Eyes was kicking "A" for a long time.... and did it His Way.... and pretty damned Well, too !!! Sooo, so many hits in different styles. Growing up in the 60s, he was old hat and trying to do covers of current pop songs.... not his thing. Yeeeears later, I discovered what had made him famous, his earlier big band work. Now, I must have nearly a dozen Sinatra albums!! Recommendation? Most will go for his big sellers and late career stuff. I really like his slower ballads... maybe, try One for My Baby. Bette Midler sang it to Johnny Carson at the close of his last show after 30 yrs. of late night tv.
Always think of my late dad whenever I hear this....He was a WWII Navy Vet. He almost didn't make it back. Frank once said he didn't like the song. But he knew people did like it and it connected to them, so he would do it. if you like Sinatra, try "One For My Baby. " Quiet singing is powerful too, on that one. Frank caught both of your attentions, but the wife was absolutely mesmerized...
Great reaction to one of the greatest crooners ever! This song gets me in my feels too! Frank Sinatra has a very deep catalog of music. Suggest The Days of Wine and Roses, Fly Me to the Moon, Strangers in The Night, Summer Wind and New York, New York. And these are just a sample of his work. He wasn't named Chairman of the Board for nothing.😁
The "Crooner" of crooners. the smoothest and most controlled voice . Came in the era where the big bands provided the background music for the singers. Others in his era: Bing Crosby, Dean Martin, Johnny Mathis, Nat King Cole, and Tony Bennett and Sammy Davis; followed by the likes of Ray Charles and Bobby Darin; but Frank "ole blue eyes" was the best. Other songs: New York New York, Cycles, Strangers in the night, Fly me to the moon, When I was seventeen - many many more!. This was written actually by Paul Anka and given to Frank. Sinatra did not like it at first because he thought it was too self-focused, but was convinced to make it a single (one take in recording studio) and it has become HIS signature song. Another from this era whose live shows were just as good as the recorded versions - they just knew how to sing, sing and sing.. It is sooo nice to hear young persons like yourselves whom truly appreciate musicians/singers of this era.
2 months ago I was diagnosed with stage 4 emphysema. I didn't share the news. I simply sent this song(individually) to all my family and friends. Did it to myself but did it my way.
This is maybe his best live version, the studio recording is amazing because he was a little younger. He hits the notes and a live performance you get the passion of it "more"... Can't say for sure, this would be the concert close or last encore, but at the end of a performance this would be "Good Night".
My Way was written for Frank by Paul Anka, who is a top singer in his own right. The lyrics fit Frank to a tee. At some point you should try Elvis Presley’s version of the song. They came out the same year and Elvis also does the song beautiful.
story goes according to Paul Anka who wrote this song keeping Frank Sinatra"s life in mind but he was very scared to give it to Sinatra thinking he might hate it and be mad at that he wrote the end of his career and life. But when Sinatra read it he loved it and performed this song as the last song of his every show
By the late 60s, male vocalists like Sinatra (Perry Como, Bing Crosby and the like) had been pushed out of the limelight by Rock and Roll. This song marked Sinatra's retirement from performing, which really made it a huge hit. Such a huge hit that, of course, he made a come back and performed for many more years.
Funny Frank Sinatra has sang a lot of other artists music but he had a way on the mic that was like no other ... love me some Frank Sinatra ... some great driving music
If you watch the move "The Godfather", there's a character in it that just reminds me of Frank. Everyone used to "joke" about Frank and his "friend's" that were "mobster's". Franks voice is like fine wine, aged to perfection!
Before there was Michael Jackson, before there was the Beatles, before there was Elvis, there was Frank Sinatra. He was as big as you can get in the world of music and entertainment. Except unlike the others, he continued to be huge all the way through his life, cranking out hits and packing concert halls almost right 'til the end.
The story of this song is when Frank's fellow artist Paul Anka was on vaccation somewhere at the French riviera. In the hotel lobby he heard a local guy playing this song and he immediately loved it! Even so much that he asked the guy if he could by the rights to it there and then and he claims it was with Sinatra in mind. At this time FS was fed up with showbiz and wanted to more or less drop out and leave it all behind him. When Paul Anka returned to America he looked up FS and presented this song. Needless to say Sinatra also loved it and it became his like anthem the song he would end every concert with for the rest of his life.
I was born in 1948. Frank has been in my ear since. My dad played a jazz trumpet. I listened to all the big bands when I was little. The Rat Pack and Nat King Cole are my favorites. Well, not the entire Rat Pack, just Frank, Dino and Sammy. Joey Bishop was talented, but I have never been able to figure out was how Peter Lawford fit in.
It annoys me how much my wife LOVES Frank Sinatra!! HA!! I guess it's that she appreciated him way before I even knew who he was was. That crooning voice...what a legend!!

"Old Blue Eyes" too.
Love Frank.

"Fly Me To The Moon" is a must by Frank.
One of a kind. Phrasing, breath control, some kind of magic. Possibly the singer of the century--and I'm a rock guy.
Again, I Loved both of your reaction to this Wonderful Frank Sinatra Song
It does my old heart good to see 2 YOUNG, BEAUTIFUL people eating up every second of this classic performance.
Love when she said “It’s magical.” Good reaction!
The GOAT❗❗❗
Beautiful performance. Bravo! Frank was a force of nature. Thinking Frankalso did a tune called "That's Life". Thank you!
Thank you for this reaction. I think you would love “One for My Baby”. It’s a song about lost love but sung in the way that only Frank could do it. It’s best to get the video performance.
One word for his carreer: integrity.
A legend!
The song "My Way" was writen by Paul Anka
every time this man opened his mouth my mother melted. He was the Elvis of the previous generation. Try :Fly me to the moon or Strangers in the night"
Vinyl indeed! " Live at Madison Square Garden" pushed by a Marantz 2275 thru 2 JBL L100's and it's like your there! 🤠👍
Glad to see you young folks enjoying the greats! Favorite Frank song is Summer Wind. You are right about the vinyl...have all his much on LPs...old school

"How well he sings." So true. He was the master.
Lovely reaction to this fantastic song and artist
Every generation needs to be introduced to Frank Sinatra. Life would be incomplete without knowing him.
My Mom love Frank and told me of the girls screaming at him. They were called 'bobby-socksers' They predated the girls screaming at the Beatles and Elvis Presley.
YES!
Its still the the most reconised song on the planet utterly stunning
Tremendous.
👏👏👏👏🔥🔥 all my man I bet she would love Fly Me to the Moon
And effortless

Hey. I read your comment and checked it out. Wow. Francis Albert was on point for sure. Cool song too. Thanks for the recommendation.
Love she wants more of Ol’ Blue Eyes. Check out That’s Life, All the Way, It was a very good year,+ 2,000 others
Everyone can relate too the lyrics of My Way . Sinatra is the Goat! Amazing voice gives me chills
The man!!!!!!

"To say the things he TRULY feels, and not the words of one who kneels". One hell of a sentiment there.
For your information, This song was written for him about him. The way he lived his life...written by Paul Anka...Listen for his perfect diction.
Great reaction! Fun to see that Frank can still make the ladies swoon!
A legend, A Showman, One of the greats of all time
Ol' Blue Eyes was kicking "A" for a long time.... and did it His Way.... and pretty damned Well, too !!! Sooo, so many hits in different styles. Amazing!
Awesome song guys!!
I love his name too. Frances Albert Sinatra. ❤ I love Frank Sinatra❤. R.I.P.

My way is set to a french song called Comme d’habitude by Claude Francois in 1976
Mr. Sinatra the “Chairman of the Board” Jersey born and breed. My favorite song by him. Thank you for your reaction. God Bless guy’s
This song is the most played song at funerals in the Netherlands by far.
Classic
ciao ,,, SINATRA E' ITALIANO di ORIGINE il PAPA' SICILIANO!!!!!!!!!!! emigrato in AMERICA!!!!

Can't say for sure, this would be the concert close or last encore, but at the end of a performance this would be "Good Night".
His Madison Square Garden performance from 1974 is an even better performance.
One if the best songs ever, and Frankie did it. BTW composed by Paul Anka !
My Way was written for Frank by Paul Anka, who is a top singer in his own right. The lyrics fit Frank to a tee. At some point you should try Elvis Presley’s version of the song. They came out the same year and Elvis also does the song beautiful.
This was freaking awesome. I'm 30 and just got into this dude.

not just you but thats because Johnny Fontaine is Frank Sinatra.
"They can't take that away from me." 2 minutes long, Sinatra's smoothest vocals.
The story of this song is when Frank's fellow artist Paul Anka was on vaccation somewhere at the French riviera. In the hotel lobby he heard a local guy playing this song and he immediately loved it! The song was ''Comme d'habitude'' by Claude François
As a native New Yorker, with Italian blood, you hear this from the moment you're popped out.
It's a sin not to know Old Blue Eyes. Gorgeous voice.
The Chairman of the Board.
yes! keep goin
You have to listen to him singing The Summer Wind
Sinatra had class. They don't make them like him anymore
You must have the most diverse playlist ever.
The mouse in the movie “Sing” sings this song at the end.
My favorite Frank song, by a mile. Both men and women like it, but men really get it. Paul Anka wrote the lyrics; he did a fine job.
Listen to his duets with daughter Nancy Sinatra. His Sinatra Family Christmas album is excellent..
Paul Anka wrote this song, but it's Sinatra's.
Beautiful lyrics. Original crooner and champion of civil rights.
Try "It Was A Very Good Year".
In fact, Paul Anka Wrote Frank Sinatra’s “My Way” and Gave Him the Song for Free .
gets played at alot of old guy's funerals (including my dad's)
"There is only one success - to be able to spend your life in your own way." - Christopher Morley
A man being manly….Mr Sinatra is an example of what today’s generation can’t wrap their minds around ….masculinity for men…
My daughter already knows... this is my song. If you are gonna have a memorial...
Listen to strangers in the night , and something stupid are also good ones to start with
Very good, Sinatra lends his style...Paul Anka wrote that song with him in mind... but you've got to check out Elvis Presley too. ( Remarkable)
The best selling album by Mr.Sinatra is "Songs For Swinging Lovers". A classic in the proper sense of the word.
This song was written by Paul Anka.
It annoys me how much my wife LOVES Frank Sinatra!! HA!! I guess it's that she appreciated him way before I even knew who he was was. That crooning voice...what a legend!!
Probably Frank’s best signature song by the end of his career he ended up hating singing this song! One of the best crooners
Remember he was getting old when this was done. he was better when he was young.
can you do a reaction to Louise by Bob Seger
Try his "Fly me To the Moon."
Like the most Alpha lyrics ever maybe.
Do some of his songs he did with Count Basie!!
Fun fact, David Bowie tried to write a song for Frank but lost to this song so he decided write Life on Mars and dedicated it "to Frank"
The movie SING has this song in it che k it out its sang
The Gipsy Kings do an incredible Spanish version of My Way. -- (I don't speak Spanish, but it's great.)
There was young Frank in the 40s and then his voice "matured" and this is that Frank. Totally different from young Frank though.
SINGER PAUL ANKA WROTE MY WAY FOR FRANK SINATRA
A good Sinatra song is “ When I was 17 “
