One of the routes used to run onto the tram network from Zuid to Amstelveen so the stock had pantographs. That practice stopped but some of the pantographs are still fitted. You can probably see one on at least one of the trains in this video. The newer stock is third rail only.
Sadly by 2026, all S1 S2 and CAF Inneo M3 M4 trains are to be retired from service and replaced by CAF Inneo M7 trains which look nearly identical to to Alstom Metropolis M5 M6, except that they are only 3 carriages in length
So as a driver from the Amsterdam Metro, the M2/M3 stock retired already in 2014/2015. The S1/S2 stock is going to retire by the beginning of 2024 and the S3/M4 stock is going to be in service until 2026-2027.
That shot at 9.50 exemplifies the difference between what would be called UK loading gauge (the Metro train) and the Berne gauge profile and size of the main line consist approaching the camera...

Are these metro trains dual voltage and can run on overhead wires or on certain lines that have overhead wires and on metro lines that have 3rd rail.

Planning to visit Cologne and Dusseldorf in the next few weeks. Main reason for being there is something else so filming time might be limited.

I only saw the on street running on the tram route to Amstelveen once.
