  • I had the opportunity to have another ride on the splendid Triumph Tiger 660 Sport so I naturally jumped at the chance. When I first rode this bike I thought it was an absolute cracker, so now I've had the chance to reacquaint myself with it, do I still feel the same?
    Featuring Jade C giving us her opinion at the end.
    Thanks to Jade and the team at Laguna Motorcycles in Maidstone for making this happen.

    Sold my GS1250 for the 660, in my view its more fun using all off the power all of the time. Against riding around hardly ever opening up the GS to anything like max power.
    As I'm getting on a bit now, love the light weight of the Tiger as well.
    Had the Tiger 8 days and already done 400 miles, my mojo is back thanks Triumph.
    Good review as well 👍

      Cheers! That’s the beauty of this power plant, you can really exploit all that power on the road, and it’s far more flexible than I was expecting! And it’s so light that the seat height isn’t an issue at all. 👍🏻
      Enjoy your bike!

      Do you advice the tiger 660 for daily commuting in short highway and in hard city traffic and for weekend fun drives?

    As a guy that lives in Kent it's great to recognise a few of the roads you took. If this bike had been available when I bought my 650 versys I would have bought the 660 triumph. It seems triumph have copied kawasaki on the pannier fitting by making it all part of the test end, so much cleaner when the boxes aren't fitted. As I was slammed over the road by a car driver and my bike is a write off, I'll now be buying the 660. Can't wait.

      Sorry to hear about your crash! I'm sure you'll love the 660, I genuinely think it's one of the best all round bikes on the market right now!

    I just bought this bike as my first bike. Your review made me feel comfortable going with it as my first bike. Thanks for the great review. I made sure to get the quick shifter 😆

    Blanks off speedo but forgot about the gps showing up red 🙈. I’m in two minds if to get the 660s or the 850s 🤷‍♂️.

      I love my 900 GTPRO. But out of the 850 and the 660, i'd take the smaller bike unless you planned on going off road. Cheaper to run, longer service intervals, just as comfortable as the 850, and a bit more flickable round the twisties. If Triumph built a fully loaded 660 GTPRO , I could even be tempted to downsize....

    Such a beauty!!! DO you think it is beginner friendly? Thanx for the nice review :)

      Absolutely! I would say the 660 would be a perfect first big bike. It has enough power to have fun with without being too much of a handful.

    I think if you are 1 up touring, commuting, the odd scratch the smaller bikes are better due to lighter weight, fuel economy, insurance, etc. The bigger bikes would come into their own for 2 up and longer trips. I'd go fror the 660 over the 850 due to a propper sized front wheel and like you said you can use the cash saved to spec it up. If they did an 850 version of the 660 with cruise control and shaft drive (extra cc to compensate for shart drive power drop) I'd buy it... 660 sport or V85TT Travel... Hmmmmm?

    • @ukveganbikers
      @ukveganbikers  2 роки тому +1

      Absolutely. To be honest in the twisties this would run rings around the 900, despite it's power deficit!

      I have the Tiger 660 and the V85TT. Will never sell either one. Opposites. The V85 is pleasingly lumpy and the Tiger runs like a sewing machine.

    I try the 660. I dont like the unadjustable suspension& clutch lever

    • @ukveganbikers
      @ukveganbikers  Місяць тому +1

      You can get adjustable levers from third party manufacturers, and they are available fairly cheaply!

    • @amateurreviews5135
      @amateurreviews5135 Місяць тому

      @@ukveganbikers its true but to change the suspension is an insane amount of money. And the competitors give these features for cheaper and they're stock instead of third party. The triumph's only advantage is that it's 3 cylinders instead of 2.

    In the USA, the difference between the 850 and the Tiger 660 is $2595. That's a lot of bike and upgrades you can do. It's a lot of money for other things. Great point, UK Vegan Biker.

      Agreed. To me it's a no brainer. I'd take the 660 over the 850!
      You could spend the money you save on some decent upgrades!

      In all honesty, out of the 850 and 660, I would go for the 660 without hesitation! And this is coming from a 900 owner. The 660 will be the most familiar to you as a Street Triple owner, and is more thrilling to ride than the bigger bike. Comfort wise I would say they are fairly similar too! Brakes wise, although the 850 on paper has the better stoppers, in practice the 660's brakes feel stronger!
      I also ride my 900 year around, and it's perfectly fine in the rain, although she does like to cover her rear in road filth!
