I can’t tell you how long I’ve been trying to find the freaking filter in my hvac. This is the only video that helped. Thank you 🙏🏽
Thank you sooooo much for this video. I had searched all over the internet to find out how to change the furnace filter (I had always just had a/c's that had filters at the air intakes in the house). We have lived at our new (old) house for 3 months and I was totally stressing out about not having changed any filters. Thanks for your help :).
fordummies , Thank you. Your model isn't MY exact model; but seeing you open yours reminded me of how to open mine. Others I checked out has theirs' already opened; thus bypassing that important step. God bless you and have a good day.
Changing your furnace filter is a 10-second job that many homeowners overlook. We get a lot of calls concerning the quality of air in the home and the cost of utility bills that can easily be avoided. Thanks for the tips!
YES! Thank you so much! From your video I was able to learn how to open up these really jammed and stuck furnace panels to be able to get to the filter at the bottom. Thank you. I found this video by searching my furnace model name of "York Diamond" and "stuck". Saved me a little money! Thank you.
Found the filter because of this video. Thank you!
I never would have found the filter without this video. Thank you!
same here!!
God bless you for this - you saved me hundreds of dollars to have someone come out to do something very small but I couldn't figure it out without you - I was very scared to try - thank you - subscribed to boost any profit I can for you
I think the most important part that not everyone would automatically know is you have to TURN THE FURNACE OFF before changing the filters!! Why would you post a video for dummies and not include this very important point????
My furnace automatically shuts off when the door to the blower chamber is removed.
@@chiquitahodgeswant a cookie? Lol
@chriswelch532 , you still giving out cookies?
Finally a video that show my furnace, had no idea how to change the filter
I’ve been living here for two years and this will be my first time changing the filter, I didn’t how important it is😮
I change my filter every month to cut down on dust and furnace problems. Best and cheapest way to go.
Thanks for the vid! Very easy to do, make sure to turn off the furnace power beforehand!
How do you do that??!?
Thank you very much...from a new homeowner. ;-)
Change your furnace filter this weekend. Healthier air quality and healthier furnace.
Thanks a lot saves me a lot...
How do I know which size filter to get? Walmart sells 3 different sizes
I was looking for a video on how to vacuum out this area of the ac/furnace. Mine has been neglected for years. I'm the new homeowner. Any tips for that? An AC guy told me he could do it for $400 (because it takes a long time) but he'd have to put me on his busy schedule.
We have to change our own horizontal, my question blue side down or up ,we cut our own fibreglass kind ty
Wish you could show my model. Duncane MPGA12585a I can not find any manuals on it to figure out where the filter goes. The filter is a 20x20x5
How to change out air filter for Honeywell 8000 AC system?
I have a Whirlpool furnace with 2 front panels. I removed the top panel but cannot slide the bottom panel out. No screws, no tabs nothing.
I cannot find the proper size to buy since my rental did not have one
I am no longer a dummy thank you for that!
I have a rheem classic plus super quiet 80 furnace. Dont see a filter to change. I think there was supposed to be a filter located at bottom of the furnace. Is there a reason someone would need remove it?
ours is the same way, just a hole, no slots or anyway of holding a filter in??????????????????????
.48...holy ball sack, that's where it is! Thanks.
Mine won't come off, there's wires, tubes & other electrical stuff in the way.
Same, I’m really frustrated….. i’m seeing lots of units that look almost identical, but not the same and I put the model number and serial number and nothing comes up for mine….. my husband passed away last summer, and I’m struggling to figure all these things out alone 🤷
@yukapa13 check your circuit breaker.
Where's the Center hold down rod..that filter will lift off bypassing much off the air.
I have the hold down rod but it won't stay in place. which end goes in first?
@@russellnovotny2921 Can't believe York would engineer such a things, as ours in like yours???????????????
Can i use waShable filter for dummies
That wasnt a video. That was a tiktok drive-by. All I saw was two hands jamming some filter into a furnace. No info on securing or positioning. Just lots of talking and a quickie of the installation. Im still looking for a something that reduces questions, not raise more of them.
fordummies , 151 people are professional furnace installers.
What exactly is securing the filter in place? In 3 houses that I've seen, the filter sits on its base (just like the one in this video) with nothing to hold it down. So once the system kicks on, the filter is pulled upward away from the base, basically being totally futile as all the air passes by its sides. Can anyone else relate?
+George Lou Absolutely - this is the situation we're facing right now - with a new heater, and also on top of it, it's a tight fit at the bottom, so someone put in the wrong size filter leaving a big gap in the opening.
Little bungee cords
How did you finally solved it?
@@Torak6969 I put a heavy water bottle on the filter to hold it down.
@@GeorgeLouVideo that doesn't sound safe :D
We replace a filter below that (a little area) facing the hallway. Do we need to put another filter in the bottom of the unit. It looks like one will fit in there it's just a hole to that little area that's down under.
Would a filter in the unit and a filter down under there facing the hall be too much drag?
Understand your concern. Thanks to this video we found our furnace filter, but it looks like the blower wheel thing would touch the filter if we put one in???????
So I changed the filter and now my house will not cool.
I can't find any opening for a furnace filter ANYWHERE? No opening, door, slit, zero! Do I have to call a repairman?
8 months ago you probably did have to call. Ours was the same, but we removed the two front panels of the furnace and there is a big hole at the bottom, no filter in there and the house was built in 2007, so probably always used without a filter?????????? Probably the A/c evapoator coils or compressor fins are clogged, as we are having trouble with the a/c cutting off every 1/2 or so from overheating probably. Hope it isn't too expensive of a fix, but being operated all these years without a filter??? There is a filter in the air return grille on the ceiling that is clean, but never knew about having two filters and one inside the furnace!!!!!!!
my gas furnace is 10 years old the brand is bryant. I went up to attic
to look at it but can't find where to replace the filter. does it not
have filter? or it's somewhere in there? the furnace is side ways and I
haven't change filter in 2 years. but always changed the filters on 1st
and 2nd floor.
Ur fucked... Abandon ship asap.
I have the same questions, I couldn't find where is the filter, did you find it and if so please respond to me at samiamind@gmail.com.
Thanks,
Sometimes the air filter is outside the compartment, look for where the large airflow duct enters the compartment and take a good look all around. If still no luck, call a furnace filter guy for help.
Greatttt
My janitrol furnace has no filters. How can an inspector miss that when your buying a house 🤬
Why is mine a damn Rubik’s cube 😑
👍👍😀😀
Always turn the furnace OFF before taking the access panels off! And always check to see if the panels are on the right location bc that's how people die!!! I see licenced contractors put the access panels on wrong all the time and it's downright atrocious.
I'm a first time homeowner. Where do I shut off the furnace? Is it the switch that I see in the side of it or do I have to go to the circuit breaker?
And you call people dumb
".?.?Awd
The
i just want to know how the get the dammm cover off so I can change the filter. I shouldn't have to call in a man to do this. I have changed filters for years. this is not rocket science. why can't I get this effin' front cover off without prying it with a screwdriver? in the video the fella just simply lifts it off. how magically! that is not what is going on in my furnace closet rite now. dammit!
+Sylvia Baker I had to take the top part off of mine first, which slid down & off. Then the bottom came off easily. It seems the top has a plate at the top of it that holds it in so I can't pull it out, but when I slide it down, that inner plate doesn't catch, thus being easy to remove. The bottom part has that same top catch plate that the top cover goes over to hold the bottom cover in place.
@Znyrat... Yeah, my last heater was like that. You also had to put them back on in a specific order.
Try a magnetic strip instead then: amzn.to/2MfPUfQ
People would have to be young like 25 if they didnt know how to change furnace filter haha i got here watching videos how to install a furnace
first if all why would he call us a dummy and second this is useless
First, this video is 8 years old.
Second, just because you didn't find it helpful doesn't make it useless.
Lastly, For Dummies has been making Instructional manuals since 1991 and has sold over 200 million books.
Your ignorance is astounding, young lady. All the information I just gave can be found in less than a minute using the internet.
What would you like to see to make the video more helpful?
