Outstanding video! So clear and comprehensive. You're an excellent instructor. I just moved into a new home and discovered the air filter was missing. Yours is the only video that I found which explained how to measure the space. Thank you!
This is the best tutorial I've watched. I truly appreciate you. By listening to your video, it saved my family $150 on a maintenance cost. Old home, purchase new $8,000 furnace, never replaced filter for 1 year, IT WAS FILTHY!!! Thank you so much...
I've watched several videos about changing the air filters and this one is by far the best and most informative. Thank you for the video, most helpful!
Thank you so very much! Terrific information; I just discovered I've been installing the filters backwards for the past couple of years. The joys of a first time home owner!!!!!
I have filters in my ceiling downstairs and near my ceiling upstairs. I assumed I would have one at the actual furnace unit as well! You saved me from pulling out my ladder and climbing into my creepy attic! Thank you!
You are an excellent teacher!! I really needed these good instructions! I have done it for years but as a woman, I was never completely sure if I was doing it right. Thank you so much! Best wishes for you!! Hey loved that joke too!
It looks like I'm not the only one thankful for your video! I though, oh goodness 21 mins on an air filter... I'm happy that I watched it. Very informative. Thanks so much!
You literally answered every question I had in depth. I recommend my homeowners to shoot for a Merv 6 or MPR300-600 as well, I've seen lots of homeowners use the Purple 3M or Kirkland (costco) brand, the worst. You're one of the few youtubers/tech that puts out a golden video, every, single, time. Every second is truly invested and not wasted. Thank you Jay.
@@orbelina6508 It's heavy pleated, which requires frequent filter changes, depending on where you live (busy road/lots of pollution, pet fur, etc) because they clog up a lot quicker than say, a 'MERV 6' filter. I come across so many No Heat calls and most of them are because of the heavy pleated filters that trip the High limit switch in the furnace.
Word of Advice TV,,,Dude you are absolutely THE BEST in providing both information and directions on everything you show and explain. I've watched several of yours and every video you share you are the absolute best no matter what it concerns. Thanks you many times over for sharing your videos. 99% doing the same are idiots and when explaining they do as if your already know so much and therefore leaving out critical information or direction but YOU DON''T. Word of Advice TV IS THE ABSOLUTE BEST OUT OF ALL THE OTHERS. THANK YOU!!!
Your video was awesome. As a new homeowner I was very confident after watching your video about replacing my filter. Thanks for all of your knowledge. Keep up doing such a great job.
Thank you for the information! I bought MERV 8 custom filters for my Whalen system as I was not happy with the ones the condo management offered. I will order 5's next time as per your recommendation. Again thanks so much!
TY.straight forward. Best explanation. I've never heard , or seen* a cover , over the filter. Never realized I could open that 'door, to get stuck filter out. For those of us single do it yr self, this helps so much
Good info about the filter change and appreciate the honest advice on the MERV rating filters for residential furnaces. You helped me make my decision on what to buy. Thank you
I am so impressed with this guy giving answers to questions I had even ones I forgot about he answers everything he goes over it and don't skip a beat he will show you things that you need to know that you have not even thought about this man gave me more information than I have received in a store everything that's no exaggeration he goes over everything everything 👍👍✅
Hi, I found your channel for the first time half an hour ago. The way you described the steps, gave instructions and extra tips while being concise, and your being humble are greatly appreciated. I don't know how often this channel will be helpful to me, but I am now a new subscriber, if only to help you out by increasing your subscriber numbers. Thank you and take care!
Awesome, thank you! I appreciate the comment and the subscribe! :) I have random videos besides HVAC that can perhaps come in handy some day for you. Have a great day!
I watched three previous videos and read so many articles when trying to figure out what direction to replace my filter, and you actually answered my question !!Thank you !!
You are fantastic! Thank you for all this valuable information in terms anyone can understand. Especially for single mothers who do not want to be taken by weasles. Thank you!!!
LOl.! I've been trying to find my filter and I can seem to locate it. I have my furnace that is up in my attic and hung horizontally. It looks completely sealed up so my guess is my ceiling has 3 of these filters and that must be the only place that they are. I live in AZ and it's extremely dusty here so that makes sense. You have been the only person I've found on UA-cam to bring this up so thank you!
Excellent demonstration. I could not find the filter on my furnace but I was able to find it hidden behind HVAC foil tape precisely in the location where you said it should.
This tutorial was very easy to understand .. I am managing my dads property and I need to have the knowledge to do things right. This was very good !!!
UA-cam to the rescue! Thanks for explaining why the nettting side should be facing the blower motor (and exactly WHERE the blower motor is!!!). I did just buy 1300’s so I hope it doesn’t become a problem. Next time I’ll just go back to the cheaper ones. Thanks 😊
I love your videos. Im looking to get into a tech school in the fall for H-VAC and there isnt a whole lot i can do right now with the coronavirus stuff going on so im just getting educated watching your videos in the meantime. Keep doing what you're doing. I'm subscribed 🤙
Awesome video and very informative. Little bit about my situation. I am a new homeowner and a big DIY person and have come to the conclusion that my air handler wasn’t installed correctly. So I have been seeking online but can’t really find an answer. So my filter installed is not snug and has no clamps to keep it down and am worried that in the years to come the dirt will clog the electronics inside. If I could possibly send a picture or what air handler I have could I get help. I want to keep my HVAC in good working order as long as I can. These repairs of replacements can really break the bank.
Excellent presentation. I had a question on which way the arrow would go and you definitely answered my question and what type of filter to buy. Thank you.
Replacing the filter was not the issue :(( So I have to call the furnace guy for further evaluation. But thank you for this video because changing the filter was needed ... it was horrendous!! I watched a couple of your other videos just to get familiar with the furnace mechanisms .... very interesting!! We'll see what the furnace man has to say ..... Thanks Again... you were helpful.
I finally found out why I couldn't figure out which way to point the arrow. My maintenance Association showed me an upside-down picture LOL that is why I couldn't see where the opening was for the air duct also.
Tnx!! Very informative basic HVAC video. I use ACE Hardware 8 MERV filters. I buy them in 6 packs. Much cheaper than my favorite go to place Amazon. And I will take your suggestion and go from every 3 months to 2 months. Even though no pets or kids. I live in manufactured housing, so my furnace is a downflow and the 16x20x1 filters go in the furnace doors.
Thank you for commenting! Glad you liked the video! Just for people reading the comments, do you remember approximately how much a pack of six filters costs at ACE?
This is a very detailed explanation. I just hope my heater has the same set-up as yours. I looked at the manual and remembered the part when you mentioned about the filters forming a “V”. Then I got confused as I saw the old filter by the floor side
