      Glad you love Rush live performances, they're the best ones to react! I haven't got words to describe all Rush songs because are Heaven sent.
      I couldn't watch your recent videos because I was working in a highschool in a little community where internet connection is pretty weak. I came back home a few minutes ago and now I will be more active to your reactions.
      I recommend a demo from an unknown hard rock band called "Long Gone", the vocalist is the lead vocalist of the glam metal parody band "Steel Panther". Hope you like it and keep on rockin' little girls!!!

    These girls do a great job here. I have watched all of the Xanadu reaction videos and they do one of the best jobs analyzing this song. My favorite Rush song of all time. It is their tightest "long" piece and perfectly illustrates their incredible talents. Things to take away from this song- Geddy plays a double-neck, works foot pedals and a synthesizer and sings. Three men made this incredibly multi-layered epic and could play it live with no tapes. Incredible achievement and one of the best live songs of all time.

      I agree! This has been one of the best reaction videos to that particular (and totes amazeballs) performance, especially since their enthusiasm actually is genuine too, despite them still being so young! 😊👍 One thing that _no one_ so far has picked up on, though: Alex's swift switch from 12 to 6 strings at 9:42 ! That's always been one of my favourite moments in that clip, along with Alex and Geddy pushing each other around 😄

    This generation grew up in a time of more freedom in artistic expression musicality. No overdubbing or sampling, everything more analog and pure. Depending on musical talent and imagination, which has been squelched in today's society. I love introducing new generations to the bands of the 60's, 70's and 80's. So fun to see their reactions like yours. Practice, practice, practice. And always find out a way to hang out and learn from someone who is another level up in musicianship. That is how Neal Peart always improved. Always willing to learn. And any other really successfull artist. Blessings.

    Song based on "Kubla Khan" by Samuel Taylor Coleridge - Neal Peart did a LOT of reading while on tours - and wrote a lot of songs based on what he wrote. In fact, these guys loved to admit how "boring" they were on tours - constantly reading, creating music, etc... instead of all the partying that some bands indulged in! Rush is truly one of the most cerebral rock bands that ever existed.

    The lyrics are great at painting the picture of caves of ice inspired by Samuel Coleridge's poem Kulblai Kahn, which many of us studied in English Lit in college. Samuel Coleridge also wrote the Rime of the Ancient Mariner which inspired Iron Maiden's song. I only recently learned the purpose for dual-necked guitars, not sure if you understand totally, the strings on each neck are tuned differently. All the different parts of the song require different tunings, so they can play the parts without changing instruments. It was fun watching you react to and discover something so many have loved for so long.

    • @5star555555555
      @5star555555555 3 роки тому +1

      In their case, it's more than different tunings. Alex's guitar is a 12-string on top and 6-string on the bottom, and Geddy's is a bass on top and 6-string guitar on the bottom so he can play rhythm guitar at certain parts (during which he used Taurus pedals for the bass)

    I was asked once what a rush concert was like back then. All I could say was that it was like being awash in colors in every spectrum of the rainbow. The sound from the stage and concert hall amplifiers went through all the way to your bones. It picked you up and elevated you to an experience you never felt. When it was over....you wished you could get back on that ride again. Xanadu is but an example a constant changing of emotional awareness that elevates you and always leaves a lasting impression on your soul.

    This is a perfect example of how music should make you FEEL like you are on a journey. The fact that it's 3 guys doing all this LIVE on stage is the truly amazing talent that is RUSH.

    Also worth noting that Geddy Lee is playing the Moog Taurus pedals with his feet throughout the song while playing bass and keys and singing.

    I feel there is hope for the future if young people are listening to great classic prog rock music like this and enjoying it. Just like classical music from great composers such as Beethoven, Bach, and Mozart, it expands the mind.

    As a lifelong Yes fan I will happily judge this to be one of the most definitive pieces of prog rock ever written. Compact , meaningful, packed with composition excellence and virtuosity to the highest possible level in all three participants, All this performed note perfect by an incredible three man orchestra. - A real audio visual pleasure every time I witness this . I saw them do it too but years later. - It makes me realise and appreciate just how joyous music can be. SO If I had a time machine, Id go back- just to see them do this there and then. PS well done ladies xx

    I've played in bands for over 30 years and have watched dozens of bands live and in video, and Rush is the most technically proficient and consistent band you'll ever see. Never mind the fact that they write great songs with great lyrics. Always been one of my top 5 all-time favorite bands.

    Thank you for opening your hearts and minds to this trio. When I was 13 (when the earth was cooling) I heard this song on the radio called Spirit of Radio by Rush. I was just starting to learn Bass guitar and after listening to it I was hooked. Geddy Lee influenced me so much as a teen and I went on to become a pro bassist too. Anyways the way you both are attracted to great music is inspiring and I wish you all the success in your musical journey. Gob Bless you both

    The best part? We paid $11.00 for a ticket to see Rush on that tour. It seemed pretty expensive because it only cost $10.00 to see Queen the previous year. But then things got really out of control when we had to pay $12.00 to see The Who in 1982.

Thank you both so much for being you! I know you have a list that's a mile long of requests, but I'd like to add one of my own. Black Sabbath (with Ronnie James Dio as singer) singing "Sign of the Southern Cross". It's an epic ride that shows off Dio's range and power!
