This is so much better than the "bro metal" the other guys of Mudvayne are putting out. So much more dynamics, it's not generic, and it's genius. I knew at a young age that Ryan was Mudvayne,.
It became clear quite quickly what made Mudvayne tick they way it did back in the day. And if you're watching this video, you're probably one of the people who saw Mudvayne for what it truly was.
This is no longer Nu Metal, this is prog rock fusion world. In Nu Metal / Popular Rock scene, he's the best bassist, but in this genre he got alot of competitors like Billy Sheehan, Victor Wooten, Bryan Beller, etc, which is kinda tough.. But still he make great music here, good for him. Maybe someday he will collaborate with another monster players like Ron Thal, Greg Howe, Guthrie Govan, etc. I think Greg Howe will fit with him bcs of his funky jazz style.
Ryan is without a doubt the most humble, down-to-earth, nicest musician I have ever met. Glad to see he's still involved in music and with two other fantastic players. Tremendous stuff.
This brings a smile to my face. I've been hoping and wishing for a Mudvayne reunion. This to me is much more better in terms of fan fair. Ryan is a remarkable bassist outside of his known works in Mudvayne. This looks like the ultimate love child scenario for him. Most importantly, he looks happy. That makes me happy.
That was me... Seriously, I have pics and videos of the show before and after to prove it. Real cool guys! Yeah, I was having a good time. Edit: Looking back, if I would've known it was recorded I wouldn't have done that, haha...
Saw them last night at a small gig in High Point NC.... it was freakin fantastic. So much talent in this small band... I have not been that excited during a concert in quite a long time.
Please....do not compare "HELL NO" (hell yeah?) with this band. These guys are ten times the band that bullshit is. Ryan is a true musician that follows the TALENT. I've always vibed with him as a fellow bassplayer, and this band would be a dream to play for. Good on you Ryan. I'm a fan.
I miss Mudvayne, however anything Ryan or Matt do I'll sure as shit want to hear it despite being different projects. Ryan, you've been a top 5 favorite musician for me since the day I heard L.D.50 for the first time. Keep kicking ass!
Mighty glad to see Ryan still at it and pulling those wicked facial expressions. Brilliant stuff here. I can't wait for a future release from these three guys.
Just found these guys tonight. OMG another BON recording! He is only a world class guitarist, sound sculpture, creator of original music. He has played with other world class guitarists (check out his discography please) and now seems to be with other excellent musicians. Pre ordered their new CD as I know the eng will mix the sounds better so we can hear his subtleties much better then his POWER bursting forth
LOVE LOVE LOVE that Ryan is having fun!!!! I hope this band releases music and I will MOS DEF support them. Ryan is a M O N S T E R on bass and in concert.
RYAN MARTINIE IS THE MAIN INFLUENCE ON MY PLAYING EVEN THOUGH I DONT SOUND LIKE HIM, BUT I COULD AT TIMES, BUT I'M SOUNDING OFF CAUSE LOOK AT THE WAY HE PLAYS.
For some of his fingerstyle parts, he seems to be striking the strings pretty hard with a downward motion of the finger rather than an additional pluck. Maybe similar to The Ox's "typewritter" techique to get a more percussive sound. Anybody have any info?
Glad to see Ryan not letting his gift go to waste 🙂 and his band mates play well also.
+Cloven Ramos me and my bro have been waiting for ryan to get back into the grove of his most awesome bass skills

yeah Hellyeah are just poor men's pantera (and I don't care for pantera that much) ... this is some good music :)
Gabriele Leone I hear ya but that's like comparing an apple and an asteroid.

These Three Music-teers! Some of THE BEST Organic groove music ever produced!

I wanna buy a couple shots of tequila for the guy who screamed "Yeah"

Ryan man, not enough words to describe this guy!
Amazing what the bassiest fingers can do..Never seen anything like him. They are all 3 Top Notch ARTISTS.
Love the sound! ryan is amazing on stage
Very cool. Ryan is my favourite bassist so I love to hear him cut loose like this, but the band as a whole sounds really great!

Robert Bentley I've lost do much respect for Chad Gray..... There needs to be a Mudvayne reunion though

Imagine if Mike Patton did some vocals on a couple of tracks....😝🤘🏻
YES!
Jesus H. Christ - I might lose my fucking mind if that happened! Holy hell. Good call!
Please no. Mike Patton is a god among vocalists, but I'd rather Soften the Glare remain a jazz trio.
...and yet others would wish to see a singer. Odd how life works.
@@tarkenton3895 Patton does jazz vocals
Looks like ryan is having a blast...always enjoyable watching him play
I saw them in Cleveland recently. They were fucking amazing! Spread the word about Soften the Glare!
ryan is a beast
The intro is called Storm Trooper Blues if you are wondering!
Ryan, thank you so much for blessing us with your talent. You definitely deserve playing in a band. Im happy for you and your awesome band members.
Ready to continuously support through BandCamp
Mighty glad to see Ryan still at it and pulling those wicked facial expressions. Brilliant stuff here. I can't wait for a future release from these three guys.
March 3 2020
The way his hand glides along that neck really reminds me of Stevie Ray Vaughn. This is seriously one of the best bassists ever.
So Ryan now plays with Alain Johannes and Iggy Pop? Fucking awesome! Loving this groove.
Ryan is an absolute monster with that bass, and probably the biggest influence on my right hand technique.

Ryan is one of the most interesting bass players I've ever heard. I could watch him play all day long. Huge, massive influence for me.
Is sooooooooooo good to see Ryan gigging around again!
LOVE LOVE LOVE that Ryan is having fun!!!!

These fine young gentlemen are the only hope we have, leading us through the death of music as we know it.

TOTALY INSANE SICK....WOW !!!
3:34 love that transition from the quiet chord section. Hopefully they produce cds. Got to get my filthy paws on one.
I think Ryan was born in bass player beast mode.
Ryan has the best stage presence ever
Good for some breakdancing ;) Ryan Martinie is incredible, this band is so cool
Absolutely love anything ryan does. How cold was the venue for ryan to have a top on though
This is my official new favorite band
you guys are sick af
Ryan's gotsum power and swagger.

Ryan you are a monster !
Good lord, Ryan is still a god
amazing

he is so awesome that he doesnt even need that guitarist..
is that Ryan Martinie?
YES.
that's awesome. 1 of the lesser known bass wizards
Ryan lives like right down the road from me!
@@vuurklae6605 go steal all his bass guitars
@@JLVCII he said he lives near him, not that he's a garbage human being.
I prefer listen to Ryan with this band. He's brutal, Dude!!
OMG
I'm so happy

Yup... I get what you are saying. His technique, in principle, is similar to the OX. It differs in execution.
That opening riff sounds like a big nod to Alice in Chains.
I want to see a tour with Animals As Leaders
Like them on Facebook and Follow on Instagram for the latest news.
2nd Album drops March 3rd!!
Great band, new CD is coming soon, check their pledge website www.pledgemusic.com/projects/softentheglare
fuck yeah ryans back
do they have an album?
I would call this a super dude..with sidekicks....
Honestly it reminds me of early Incubus, which I dig.
+Mance Fine Have you ever hear Incubus's first actual album? Metal as all hell.
You can BARELY hear Ryan. SMH!
God Bless you ALL!
Bon est bon.
Guitarist dude seems even nicer than Ned Flanders.
should be called 'Funky Load'
What's the name of the trio exactly?
Soften The Glare.
+codbo1223landuca Soften The Glare
looks like they raised gg allen from the dead to play guitar. lol
Fyi...
I had to google gg allen.
FUCKING HELL!!!! I want to see MUDVAYNE together!!! Not some side projects!!! >=/
Shame for shame on those shitting on hellyeah I love Ryan but I love every one in hell yeah
This is great stuff! I hope they don't add a vocalist.
The running joke with those guys is "our singer didn't show up."
Warwicks Thumbs, without a doubt, have the best sound.
Fuddy Duddy Wal.
He should get one. He can afford it.
Jesse West Channel ? If you’re talking about Ryan, that is one just nicely customized.
