@@sylvainhyais8166 You didn't understand anything in this match. Probably didn't even see it completely. Swyatek was in perfect shape at the beginning of the match. No injuries. She moved very fast and even hit the ball harder. Iga literally ran after every ball. And that's what ruined her... By the end of the second set, her leg muscles had failed. She hadn't calculated her strength. The score of the match should have looked like this: 6-2 6-7 2-6. Iga realized this and withdrew.
Rybakina jest wybitna tenisistka gra spokojnie z przyjemnością się ogląda jak gra. Świątek jest za nerwowa biega ciągle robi wygibusy przed meczem to śmieszy to parodia .
During the first set it was raining lightly (more of a drizzle) so the ball was heavier and Rybakina had to compensate during her serve that's why most of her serves were long. Her groundstrokes flat as they are resulted in balls often finding the net. She was landing around 40% of her first serves so Iga was feasting on second serves that were bouncing just within Iga's strike zone. The rise in Rybakina's quality of play starting the middle of the second set coincided with the rain stopping. That was when she started serving well and committed less unforced errors making life difficult for Iga as Elena was able to attack Iga's forehand more.
They wouldnt play if it was raining at drizzle lol Iga came out powerful and lost energy in second set. She killed Ryba in first set overall and Ryba had to serve hard or iga would dominate. IF Ryba didnt have her serve iga would destory her
@@kjron1548 Did you even watch the match live? It was raining lightly during the first set and the camera even focused on it a few times during the match. And didn't you notice that the audience had their raincoats and umbrellas on? It is common practice in clay court tournaments to continue match play even when there is a shower because the clay absorbs the precipitation. Only when the clay becomes slippery will they stop a match. It's different in hardcourts where they will stop play immediately.
Rybakina was going to win regardless. She broke Swiatek mentally at 5-3 in the tiebreaker. At 2-2 in the third Swiatek didn’t want to play anymore. Watch the last point of her match against Rybakina at this years Australian Open. She gave up on the point in almost the exact same way.
Sad to see Iga exit like this, but she literally asked for it. For a good portion of the match, she had Ryba on the ropes, right where she wanted her to be. And then, when she had to pull that final trigger, the nerves came in and she produced a textbook chokejob. The injury that followed was nothing more than a side effect of that choke, because had she not gifted Elena that re-break in the 2nd by commiting no less than three (!) UEs and then instead converted at least one of another three doable BPs, the 2nd set wouldn't even go to a tiebreak. A monumental choke!
Iga didn't choke. Rybakina just served aces and played very well during those breakpoints. When you say choke you are referring to someone who fails to land an easy shot. There was nothing easy for Iga during those breakpoints. Rybakina's serves and groundstrokes are just very powerful it doesn't give Iga much of a chance. You probably haven't ever played competitive tennis to be talking that way.
@@edgarmacabasa6682 well you can't really blame her for choking against Rybakina because her record against Rybakina ain't good, played 3 lost 3!😅 she surely can't risk losing a fourth consecutive time against the Kazakh can she?!😂😂
Elena Rybakina once again is displaying her physical and mental toughness and ability to sustain Iga's barrage of quickness and power. However, Elena knows Iga's game of style now after previous defeats and know her serves and angled shots will keep Swiatek moving side to sides which took a toll on her thigh and knee eventually due to physical limitations and wear and tear. Cool, calm, and collective as usual for Elena Rybakina. Unfortunately, for Iga Swiatek, she was not able to continue to compete and had to retire. Hopefully, her injury is not too serious and will recover soon enough to play again for the Rolland Garros tournament. Big congrats to Elena Rybakina.
They will most likely meet at the quarterfinal stage of Roland Garros there's a high probability that IGA will get injured again because the way Elena plays IGA will most likely overextend herself again.
@@sinic1978 For Iga, everything is much worse. Lena played frankly poorly, this allowed Iga to win the first set and confidently lead in the second, make a lot of breaks. It is worth Lena to return her serve and accuracy of strikes - and Iga will simply fly off the court. Even running and squats won't save her. Rybakina was essentially playing with herself, little depended on Iga herself.
Iga was almost unplayable on Set 1. That’s already given. She was phenomenal. But they way Rybakina held her own and forced a tiebreak on the 2nd set was hardly talked about. She is a mental giant. And this is on clay for crying out loud! She was already ahead of Iga on the tiebreak before the injury happened. Iga had to over-chase, over-play, and retrieve Rybakina’s pacey balls in the tiebreak. Maybe that was not a sustainable/ injury prone style of play after all against Elena, hence, the injury.
Tennis is not one set ...tennis is minimum 2 sets...some players just cant play their best leval at the first set like ryba in her matchs she plays good as the match continue
I agree on the strategy of Iga. It was not a good one to use against Elena since we know Elena can belt out strong forehands and backhands at pinpoint accuracy on both corners at that! I wish there was a link to the full match! I'd like to watch that tie break again
I hope Iga will get well soon from injury. I am so sad Iga retired because of knee injury :( but we know she is a very strong person and has solid mental, so we can see her soon!
Come on, dear commentators! You pronounce "Swiatek" perfectly even though it's spelled differently, but you always mispronounce "Rybakina" (RybAkina is correct, not RybakIna)? Is that your incompetence or disrespect?! A shame!
The Ice Queen is Iga's worse nightmare. There aren't many players that can outpace and dictate play against Iga. Elena had her scrambling. Her formidable first serve was key.
But that is the thing though, her 1st serve wasn’t there and in the beginning of the match Iga was smashing the few 1st serves she got for winners. Rybakina had to win a 15-40 game in the 2nd set with zero 1st serves.
@@westonmeyer3110 Rybakina is a better athlete, and tall too, 1.84cm. In Rome, 3 players could not keep up with her and had to retire. Kalinskaya, Iga and Kalinina. Of course they are good players, but Elena is outstanding. First serves are ok, but there are other elements in her game. She is like a spider, making her web slowly, and patiently, till her opponent give up. Ostapenko pulled all sorts of trick to slow Elena’s game, but it was foregone conclusion. Cheers.
(IGA SERVES) CONSTANT LOLLIPOP, OPPONENTS MUST PLAY, (INSIDE BASELINE) & PUNISH HER FIRST SERVE, WITCH IS AT BEST AVERAGE. ELENA'S SERVE, IS A MONSTER. SHOULD WIN MANY MORE MAJORS.🤔🤔🤔.
Said it many times, Swiatek, Rybakina, Sabalenka are all destined to face each in many Grand Slams, and each win multiple times, but Rybakina is going to win most I feel.🤔
@@black.cake1 Ryba beat her three times this year and we are in may. That is a fast catching up, and once Ryba is No:1, that will easily progress. 2-3 years is not a big deal, believe me.
in the second set Ryba had only 9 unforced errors that’s beyond ridiculous for 13 games, this proves that once she raised her level Iga couldn’t handle her anymore and was constantly on her back foot and running side to side !!!!
Strange considering how many break points had to defend Rybakina and Swiatek in the whole match only one. Rybakina was struggling all the match and only the serve let her stay in the game. Iga lost focus when it was 4-2. Rybakina is nothing special.
Such a shame, that was thunder and lightning, stunning display of hitting the ball with exquisite timing. And they both do it differently which adds another layer of intrigue
This match singlehandedly made Rybakina a better clay court player. In the beginning she was completely outmatched but in the 2nd set Rybakina was starting to hit some very good shots on the move. In the Australian Open Rybakina was adding volleys into her repertoire, in Indian Wells she was hitting good lobs and in the final of Indian Wells she finally beat Sabalenka by learning how to hit some down the line winners instead of always hitting hard cross court winners, then she added drop shots in Miami, and now she is learning how to play offensive and defensive tennis on the move. By this time next year Rybakina will be a 6 foot tall Ons Jabeur with a much better serve and much more power, that is scary.
This match shows that even when the conditions are heavily in Iga's favor on clay, if they both play at their best, Elena can still dominate Iga. She is just a bad matchup for Iga because her forehand is able to dominate Iga's forehand. Against everyone else, Iga's forehand is a fearsome weapon, but against Rybakina it becomes a liability.
@@peonymagnolia please read carefully before you reply. Did you even watch the match? Rybakina was winning the forehand to forehand exchanges with Iga by a wide margin. Just as I was saying, Elena's forehand was dominating Iga's forehand. I never said Elena was dominating Iga.
Iga playing 3rd tournament in a row (Stuttgart won, Madrid final, QF Rome) + bad weather conditions might have contributed to her injury. Hope it's nothing serious and wishing speedy recovery! Great game by Rybakina. Her serving game is best on tour and it shined in tie-break. I think she put in all her 1st serves in crucial moments.
Sad end to this game but not that surprising ; Swiatek's game relies on a total involvement and agressivity on every point , and there her body had enough ! On the opposite Rybakina plays quite relaxed ... The margin of progression is on the side of Elena
Rybakina is the player who wins a tournament and the next weel can lose in first round, after winbledon she was horrible, this year after some victories lost in first rounds in Sttugart, Madrid, and got into a semifinal here with only 2 games, because of the injuries of 2 players. Many players can beat her because of their style of game, she has 0 record against many low ranked players.Teichmann is only one of them...

Yep, she played on the level that she couldn't maintain, she literally gave it her ALL the Rybakina increased her level and served better then took her legs. She had her running from side to side 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Rybakina needs only to improve her volley technique at the net, then go to the net more, and rally more from the baseline and she will be virtually unbeatable. She already has a dangerous forehand and outstanding backhand and serve.
@@LobsterFromMars Because, as she says, she can improve and be more consistent. That’s why. She’s 29-7 this year. She can get the losses down in number and totally dominate and she and her coach know it.
@@GAjjl Now she has an established scheme already working, and we don't know what will happen if this scheme is changed. Personally, I don't see any particular need to introduce something radically new into her game yet, rather she needs to hone what she already has. It is necessary to seriously reduce the number of unforced errors, as Sobolenko and Kalinina did this year.
Why does the WTA continue to upload match replays in terrible quality? Due to the low frame rate, the ball's trajectory gets interrupted. Is it really not possible to upload replays in Full HD quality?
If rybakina wants to defeat ostapenko...she needs to be ready to run at the corners and not stand still ....after serving recover quickly and start moving.....penko backhand is very good
Iga is good but she doesn't have a magnanimous heart towards her challengers especially someone as consistent as ERy (in case you think it's the one-title wonder 😄). Iga has lost 4 times to ER this year. Elena is like a black horse with nothing to lose and only everything to gain. She is calm and cool as ice. Elena is there to earn her money but she doesn't need to do it with a ready-for-war, ready-to-make-enemies face. Just like ash barty, ons J, Beatriz haddad maia and victoria azarenka who are some of the superb players with a big heart for friendship. Elena is cool. She will be blessed as no. 1. I enjoy watching all of them but personal favorite is Vika. She looked beautiful in a white jacket at Australian open 2023 against zhu lin. Love her big accurate serves and powerful backhand shots. Hope to see more of her. All the way, Vika! She actually looks so much more beautiful now compared to 10 years ago.
Elena is a bit autistic. I've seen her boil a few times when she loses, and there's no way to change that. She once tried to hit the racket on the court. It's never happened. I don't know where you see that Iga is not prone to friendly reflexes, I see it exactly the opposite. Look at Iga's friendly reaction when Ons was screaming. Elena is far from it.
Too bad Iga had the injury, but this is revving up to be a rivalry for the ages. I like both of their games. They can hit other players off the court with such different styles.
So far, it's revving up to be more like a Federer vs. Roddick "rivalry". While the one (Ryba) is racking up all the wins, the other (Iga) counters with collecting most of the losses.
The WTA really does a horrible job with these highlights... Those who haven't seen the match want to see the crucial moments (i.e. when and how Iga broke in the first set, when and how Iga broke in the second set, when and how Elena broke back in the second set, when and how Elena mini broke in the tiebreak...) Very bizarre to not include these moments (doesn't matter if they weren't "highlight reel" rallies. Anyway, super happy for Elena as she's my favorite WTA player but never nice to see a win like this. Hope Iga can recover quickly from this injury.
Iga broke in the 1st set consecutively because of Rybakina double faulting and not getting any 1st serves and terrible errors, it wasn’t that exciting. Likewise Iga got broken in the 2nd set when Rybakina finally put some pressure on her serve and Iga made an error.
And what was it about the injury? Did she came into the match already injured or did she injured herself during this match? Did she hit her racket on her leg and that caused the injury? Yes indeed, really poor coverage from the WTA to get any crucial infos here.
@@ApricusInaros IGA got injured because in the second set Elena was putting a lot of pressure on IGA, IGA was all over the place eventually she got injured at tie break when the score was 5-3. It will only get worse for IGA from now on as everytime she plays against Elena she knows she has to win in straight sets otherwise if it goes to set 3 she knows her chances of winning is very low. I think iga goes too far in every match beyond what her body can withstand. It's blood and bones not steel parts. Perhaps she wants to make that a trademark but this is the sad consequence. Run faster or let it go instead of harming her body too frequently too early in her career. Play with joy and goodness will descend. There is much more to life than tennis. ERy always has a smile even when the going gets tough. Serena didn't win 23 GSs with a ready-to-make-enemies face. Relax!

Great match Iga and Elena

Early on Swiatek was moving so fast I had to check I had the play speed set to normal, but I guess that kind of acceleration does risk injury to the thigh.

@@sylvainhyais8166 "clearly dominated" you said... maybe in the 1st set, in the 2nd Rybakina was clearly superior, turning around from 1 break down to winning the tie break, and would have continued that mood to the 3rd set, so it was quite far away from being a "dominated" performance from Swiatek, and nothing due to it's injury

@@sinic1978 😆🤣 very true
Iga was injured , like Rybakina many times in past months. WTA is becoming absolutely very tough “league “ this year
Nie znam się na sporcie ale Iga jest Człowiekiem
Niesamowite odkrycie.
IF Ryba didnt have her serve iga would destory her
@@kjron1548 Yeah totally agree. If Ryba can't win cheap points off her serve she is very beatable, not just by Iga but by lots of other players.
I agree. Her backhand down the line was always in the net, wet and heavy balls were iga's bread and butter
@@kjron1548 Nonsense.. Rybakina has beaten Iga 2x out of 3 meetings on head-head.. prior to this game
I hope IGA recovers smoothly from her injury 🙏🏽
Congratulations Rybakina. 🎉😍What a comeback and now she's 8/9 in tiebreaks in 2023.The third set could have gone either way if iga wasn't injured.
she could of lost in 3rd
@@kjron1548 No ELENA wouldn't of lost !!
*Rybakina* is a "True hero"..;How could she come back against *Iga*& defeat "The relentless warrior"!
Elena 🙌 never gives up 🫶
Ja bym mógł tak bardzo długo bo dużo czytałem książek no i was wszystkich kocham
So Rybakina faces two break back points at 4 all and we dont get to see how she defends to prevent iga from serving for the match.
What are you talking about, what nonsense
Nonsense lol
Nonsense.
I do not count the number of times that Rybakina has won even being overdominated
@@Gayaa-dl7lq It's because of your game loot.
Rybakina is the modern age "Ice maiden".
@@spaceshido6124 Yes, as I've noticed. Elena is a slow starter but once she gets going she dominates most of the time.
I agree on the strategy of Iga. It was not a good one to use against Elena since we know Elena can belt out strong forehands and backhands at pinpoint accuracy on both corners at that! I wish there was a link to the full match! I'd like to watch that tie break again
Unplayable? Rybakina had multiple break points and didn't take them. Ostapenko was Unplayable against Badosa.
Elena served Iga a good one. Run her around the court and run her off the court too. Elena is in Iga's head.

She will be third best in the world soon. Rybakina overtaking her and so si Saba
Come on, dear commentators! You pronounce "Swiatek" perfectly even though it's spelled differently, but you always mispronounce "Rybakina" (RybAkina is correct, not RybakIna)? Is that your incompetence or disrespect?! A shame!

Congrats Lena 😊😊
Cheers.

Its becoming routine now for Elena to beat Iga.
The two most exciting women tennis players on the circuit to watch
in the second set Ryba had only 9 unforced errors that’s beyond ridiculous for 13 games, this proves that once she raised her level Iga couldn’t handle her anymore and was constantly on her back foot and running side to side !!!!
Yes! They will compete in grand slam finals one against the other! ( grunting- free!)
Rybakina did not dominate her even for a second, lol.

Rybakina needs only to improve her volley technique at the net, then go to the net more, and rally more from the baseline and she will be virtually unbeatable. She already has a dangerous forehand and outstanding backhand and serve.
And why, if she wins without all this?
@@LobsterFromMars Because, as she says, she can improve and be more consistent. That’s why. She’s 29-7 this year. She can get the losses down in number and totally dominate and she and her coach know it.

Rybakina has become a pain and wall for Iga. Not too many players have that record.
Ostapenko is also a great wall against Iga
If rybakina wants to defeat ostapenko...she needs to be ready to run at the corners and not stand still ....after serving recover quickly and start moving.....penko backhand is very good
On clay i dont think ostapenko will have any trouble defeating rybakina.

Real #1 taking fake #1 to the Trash Can.
These highlights didn't tell the full story of this match and the WTA highlights have been a little lack luster for Rome in my opinion.
i just find it odd that shes already injured yet again!
@@stefanmoravcik598 Exactly. A rivalry where just one player wins!
What a tough match !! World class from both players !! Who is the best atm Sabalenka, Rybakina or Świątek ?? We will know after French Open !
Good decision not to aggravate before French open.
She's going to throw everything at Elena and this is when she's going to get herself injured.
@@ApricusInaros No, she didn't hit her leg with the racket, and she didn't come into the match injured either. In fact she was moving incredibly well up until the injury late in the tiebreak. 3 minute injury timeout but didn't play very hard after that and had to quit.
