I have the Mimephon & Nautilus and i love both of them. Thanks for zapping a new light on this. Out of all the dudes making vids on gear you are the most calming & non irritating. Grazie from Italy
Usually 'non irritating' would be a bit of a back-handed compliment but on UA-cam, it's high praise 😂. I'll go a step further and say, you've got a very natural way with your presentation that makes your videos flow really smoothly. Plus, best patches in the game, obvs!
Lots of fun tricks with the mimeophone. Engaging flip while zone is fully ccw gives a pretty intense distortion like effect. Also, having repeats all the way ccw while halo is up lets you just use the reverb without delay, zone then acts as almost pre delay.
Yes! Such a cool take on this instrument. I auditioned many delays before buying a Mimeophon. My eurorack is a synth Pedalboard for hands with Fuzz Factory and Mimeophon aided by clocking and filtering. The Mimeophon is so endless for such a tidy box. Hope it brings you much inspiration!
So I've watched a bunch of your vids lately, and I have a pretty large-scale rack, but my drums always seem to be lacking trying to do it in the rack. I noticed you frequently use a KO2 so I recently picked one up, and wow it has really helped the workflow. I have to say a big thank you. I don't use it for much for anything else but drums yet, but it works great for this along with the rack. Great video on the Mimeophon btw, one of my favorites delays!
Going to need to spend a whole lot of re-watches on this one, so I can try to see what more I can coax from my Mimeophon. That second jam... chef's kiss.
I have it, it’s great, a bit mental but also very musical. I like playing guitar through it at the 2nd shortest zone and modulate the rate with a sine. This gives a really nice Cocteau’s flange / chorus.
@@TheUnperson it’s the short delay time moving which creates comb filtering flangy chorus sound. You obv can do this with pedals too…. I have Arbhar so patch into this. I think u have Lubhar ?? So this would be cool.
I've tried my fair share of delays; mostly pedals but also a few tape echos. Mimeo is a keeper for sure, never tire of it and I kind of want 2. Morphagene I'm still trying to get the hang of 😅
@@TheUnperson I'd lend you mine if I wasn't on the other side of the world lol. morph will probs be the reason I make a little journal to remember all my cheat codes!
brilliant, allie!! you got some really lovely stuff going here. now, here's a weird query for ya: the synthlords come down from on high & say unto ye, "allie, we dig what you're up to here, but... you can't have both the mimephon & the boss rps-10. sorry, son. but them's the rules." so, which one would you choose?
@@TheUnperson duly noted!! thanks for gettin' back to me on that. I keep hawking (or vulturing) around for an RPS-10... it keeps callin' me. it calls me on the darkest of night!!
Excellent as always. I get a lot of background noise in mine, and I've heard this pointed out by many others as well. Did you encounter that? If so, did you find a way around it? I notice it most with high repeats and color . . .
I didn’t notice it too much with the mimeophone actually, but it is a problem I encountered often with digital modules. For my videos I often use a denoiser plugin to lesson the noise.
There’s definitely some crossover with the sound on sound feature, and they’re both very creative delays, but their characters are quite different. I feel the mimeophone is more immediate, and the nautilus likes some fine tuning. Both fantastic delays tho!
Do you have these jams recorded somewhere I can listen? Don't get me wrong, i love the demos and you do an amazing job, I just want to listen to the music on repeat :)
I had the same problem. Try to mount it on different positions. Sounds strange, but I found one (away from the power supply) and all background noise was gone.
Earthquaker Devices - Afterneath. Quirky..? I’ve said it before. It’s.. A delerb from the underwhen with ouvereach! Super quality expose - again. Cheers
@@TheUnperson There are always both the pedal and the Eurorack versions on Reverb. It truly has some unique character and it does enjoy CV. Well, the module does. It is not for everyone but it is legit.
When you're doing the Karplus stuff with the MCO you would most likely find you get more pleasing results if you also tracked the pitch of the MCO to match the tuning exactly with the Mim. Add an enveloped VCA between the MCO and the Mim for even more control over the sound. This is one thing you missed out on when doing your Rings external input experiments by the way, especially with the enveloped VCA part (also don't trigger Rings with a gate when doing this). Although Rings does sound nice to me when used as a weird filter and you don't need to track pitch for using it that way. Nice vid as always with well thought out and musically strong patch examples.

You’re too kind! ☺️
i have intellijel rainmaker and strymon magneto and starlab ,but i like all modules jejejejjejej
@rafaelgarciamoreno8089 that’s a mighty selection of delays!

Nice Tip!
It recently became my favorite modular delay, mostly for glitchy stuff!
great video!
Thanks! There’s definitely a lot of scope for getting glitchy with the clock input and hold with the zone modulation!
Ohhh man the "sound-on-Sound" part is like Alchemy proccess but with sound, this part is dripping with gold!
I like this description a lot!!
One of my favorite delays. Thanks for making this bud with new ideas clicked delays rule :)
Thanks! Delays absolutely rule!!
Such an incredible module, one of my favourites of all modules.
Very quickly became a favourite of mine too!
Agreed! You can never have too many delays.
Mimeophon is a great hands on, performance delay.
Great demonstration ❤
Thank you! ☺️
Yeah, and you can never have too many Filters, oh, and crazy reverbs..and...🤣

Oh nice! I had the fuzz factory pedal back in the day and I love the tones and drones it can create. Didn’t realise there’s a eurorack version!
You're very good Ally, I appreciate that you cover modules regardless of when they were released.
Thanks! I quite like working with “classic” modules. I’m on the lookout for an original clouds and elements next!
intro is amazingly good , could listen to this for hours/days
Thank you :)

These demo’s you do really open up all of the modules possibilities!
Glad you enjoyed the demo ☺️
totally agreed : you can not have too many delays ! 😄 and this one is very good !
Loved the sound on sound experiment ;)
Glad to hear it! I do love a bit of sound on sound!
Mimeophon my absolute favorite modular Delay ... and you are rocking it 🔥
Thanks! It was instantly a favourite of mine too ☺️
Great improvisation. I enjoyed it.
Thanks!
1st jammin out patch is such a banger
Glad you enjoyed it!
You are easily in my Top 3 channels for modular...learn so much from all your videos!! Are all your drums being produced by the device to the left?
Glad you’re enjoying the videos! Yep the drums are coming from the KO2:

interesting set up about 3k?
