Great video. I really like the fact that she started from nothing, explained what the modules would be used for and then went step by step and built everything up. More videos please.
One of the best videos I've seen explaining a patch! Slow pace, calm voice, clear explanation of the function of the modules and why it's used. This is superb! 👏 Also lovely music as a result and not just noise and glitches.
Thank you for the video! I love seeing different methods of generative patching. I also really appreciated the slow methodical pace of the video. I hope we get more videos from you in the future!
I could watch videos like this non-stop. The slow and clearly explained process was absolutely perfect for my novice modular brain. So many videos are just way too fast and hard to follow. Just wonderful - more like this please!! ❤️❤️❤️
That's so nice to hear, thank you! That is exactly what I was aiming for, as I know how complicated modular synthesizers can be. Especially if you are new to this topic or even if you just own different modules or are focusing on different techniques at the moment. Glad you could follow along easily!
Really useful and entertaining patch! If you try this out, don't forget to experiment with clock divisions to Morphagene's clock and record CV - and slow notes with long attack-decay. So nice. I love the sound of the STO.
Best video I’ve seen in a long time. I appreciate the in-depth explanation of what everything does and how it is patched. This is very helpful versus knob turner videos that explain nothing and hide their cabling so you can’t learn anything. Can’t say thanks enough! More content like this please. 👍
This is fantastic Panic Girl! Seriously one of the best patch from scratch videos I've seen. Your pace and clarity make it so comfortable to follow. More please! :) :)
How about, Gen Harm II -- creating a B section, contrasting or modulating or otherwise such that you can 'escape' to B for a bit and then return home to A? Minimal or no additional patching? Just one of many possible continuations. Very informative and enjoyable. Thanks!
Yes, that's a lovely idea! One easy way to start a B section would be to store another set of notes in the René module on the Quantize page for example
@@PanicGirlVids Yes, I'm not so much into quantization unless I make up the tuning myself -- don't know René well enough to say whether that's possible.* My* first stop would be Mimeophon's schmushy (technical term) capabilities to open up into something in the atmospheric & granular space. Mine hasn't arrived yet so I'm speaking 'theory' here. As well as wishful thinking. Thanks again!
Great patching commentary. I don’t have all of these modules, but as the description was so perfectly paced I was able to mentally substitute modules I do have. Pamela’s New Workout would be a really good addition to this patch. Thank you! More Panic Girl please!
Nice. You might want to connect both outputs from the Morphagene instead of just one, and then use the morph knob for additional harmonies and random panning.
Great video for beginners but also more seasoned veterans too. Explaining your thought process before starting a patch from scratch really helps people follow along and is something I’m also trying to follow when explaining my patches. Loved it!
You can use a LPG like a VCA, but LPG cuts the high end when closing. Technically it’s a VCA and a LPF in series that are controlled with the same envelope. Sonically the human ear perceives low and high frequencies with different loudness and the cut of the high frequencies while closing sounds more „natural“, „organic“, and „plucky“. Some LPGs also add resonant harmonics to the sound. It’s a Don Buchla thing…
Lovely video! Very informative! I don’t have a Wogglebug, but I do have a Rene 2: what were you patching into the modulation input in Rene? And are you attenuating whatever that signal is? And, lastly: does this technique add notes that aren’t strictly time quantized? Or is it just adding some variability to where the Y value jumps to when it gets the next clock in?
I’ve been wondering about that as well! Still trying to wrap my brain around it! From the Rene manual: Y-CV Input: Control signal at this input generate a number that is added to the number generated by the Y-Axis Counter, to create the Y coordinate. When René counts Snake Style, Y-CV selects stored set of coordinates.. Y-CV is normalled to +5V so that with nothing patched, the attenuator acts as an offset generator.
Nice. Also interesting inspiration what i can do with much "lesser" equipment. For this melody i think the Rene is overkill, i would be perfectly happy with a SQ1 on Random or maybe just a simple s+h for the melody, maybe with random gates in envelope. (both in the wogglebug for example).
not willing to look like a smartass at all here, but have you considered multing the lpg out as well in order to have the possibility to mix 1 dry and 2 wet in parallel instead of running it all in series?
Super nice, but I don‘t understand how the sound from the Morphagene is perfectly in sync when you didn‘t use a gate for record / record stop. The ending of your recording was pretty random, how can it be all perfectly in sync?
I did try to record a "loopable" bit of the melody, but it was a bit of luck too for sure :) When I was trying out this patch before I recorded the video it didn't work out well to get a loopable bit, so I synced the Morphagene similar to the Mimeophon. But whenever possible I prefer the unsynced version, it sounds way more organic and playful!
Uhm, gosh!! Her voice is such a curve ball that I think I need to go and travel to the farthest English speaking places to the north and to the east of that Olde Worlde. Beautiful speaking voice, it’s hypnotic and so harmonic on its own, like the siren’s song. I’ve never heard anyone from North Unberland speak, I have no reference to compare that to. North Wales? Maybe she’s as American as Apple pie, the most exotic voices I’ve heard were products of the great melting pot. Don’t quantize that spoken voice. The patch is just as beautiful! THANKS FOR SHARING!!
Nice patch! But I wouldn't call this generative, it's very deterministic with effects layers. I'd love to see more vids like this, especially with Panic Girl digging into a more randomized and layered patch, or revisiting patches from her tunes! They're really cool =)
Great video. I really like the fact that she started from nothing, explained what the modules would be used for and then went step by step and built everything up. More videos please.
Yeah, the planned structure of this was excellent.
I agree. Thatˋs the best way to understand a setup. Thanks a lot for that.
I wish every tutorial were explained this way. Start from scratch, add one module at a time, explain what it does and why. Just perfecr
One of the best videos I've seen explaining a patch! Slow pace, calm voice, clear explanation of the function of the modules and why it's used. This is superb! 👏 Also lovely music as a result and not just noise and glitches.
This is one of the best tutorials I've seen on modular and Make Noise modules. More Panic Girl, please!
Finally a patch explained properly. Thank you. And lovely jam of course!
That was a great video! MakeNoise should ask Panic Girl to do a regular series of these. 😃
Yeah, I agree.
Yeah she’s a great educator
Yes please!
Agreed
Yes yes yes
Thank you for the video! I love seeing different methods of generative patching. I also really appreciated the slow methodical pace of the video. I hope we get more videos from you in the future!
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for the nice feedback :)
Agreed!
What I like most about this video, is the calm and very slow approach. I understood everything :)
Thanks so much for the compliment!! Means a lot to me :)
excellent rundown, great tutorial, sounds and modules

Clear like. water , THANKS MANY 🤘
Fun, love a good patch-from-scratch!
One of the best patch from scratch videos I have ever seen both fun and informative PERFECT 😍
Thanks so much :-)

I had exactly the same idea with morphagene clock/record while watching the jam. Great !
i really enjoy the subtle phasing of the morphagene reel, it adds a nice depth to the patch.
I luv the music
Thanks!!

Ah, so good. Lots of amazing technique to draw from! Thanks for sharing.
Omg thank you!
These tones are my jam. ❤❤❤❤❤❤

I'm very glad to hear that, thanks so much Benjamin!!
Very lucid explanation. Thank you
Great video, lovely slow explanation! Really enjoyed this thank you
My pleasure
Very nice, crystal clear explanation and beautiful melody after all, thank you.. inspiring for me...
Thanks so much :)
Beautiful

And recording multiple splices with different harmonic content onto the morphagene!
Appreciate the extended play after the explanation. Lovely work!
Please make more videos like this. Great, Panic Girl.
Such beautiful sounds!!

Love patch from scratch videos. Excellent and fun demo!
Thanks for watching!
I enjoyed this video. And love generative patches! More please.
it's great to see such a concise explanation of a patch

thanks for the great video!
Wow this is really a great patch tutorial. Well done Panic Girl.

Very useful - thank your for your time & effort - love it. Looking forward to get my morphagene :-)
Thanks for watching!
Lovely patch and really clear explanation. Love it. Thank you. 🙏👏🏻
Thank you for watching ^_^
Why did I only just stumble across this? Panic Girl is SUCH a great teacher! More please? Also, I want a Mimeophon now - sigh :(
Well explained, and then when you finally hear it the patch sounds great.
Excellent tutorial!
⚡️
Learned a lot. Thank you to Panic Girl.
Glad you enjoyed it!
such a beautiful and layered sequence
🎶🎶
This was ace!
Thanks! Very useful explanation. Also, when you try to get similar results with other modules. Because i did understand the signalflow.
Very well explained 👍🏻
Dope!!!!
Perfectly explained and well structured. Great job panic girl! 🙋🏻♂️

subbed (to PanicGirlVids)! everyone else should too, at least from the cpl vids i've seen she knows her stuff!

I think it’s changing the Y snake pattern
After seeing this I don't know why she is called 'Panic' girl. 😃This was great.
Lovely patch. Makes me regret selling my STO. Such a versatile simple oscillator.
It really is. And the Shape knob is so much fun during a jam or a performance!
Nice piece
Hiroshi Yoshimura vibes. Love it.

It doesn't actually sound perfectly in sync to me. I think you can hear it drifting slightly in and out when she has the mix knob in the middle.
@@PanicGirlVids Thanks for explaining! So the used recording wasn't the synced one? Wow. Very good hit on that record button :)
@@VictorSteiner Yes exactly ^^ Thanks :D
