I am on HRT and have not felt fully right since 2009, 15 years. Drs were not keen on prescribing it. My own GP at the time must have been in it as she wasn't much older than me. Another GP said I could only have it for five years. I always struggled with addiction, but looking back, I only got into the harder drugs around this time. I resented I had needs, I read about women getting testosterone, and ignored it. I felt freaked out when I first watched Dr Newson's videos, but something inside me must have made me take action. I am lucky enough to be part of a local meno FB group, and we have recently met. They helped me with what to say to my GP as some of them are patients at my surgery. I am just over a week into testosterone treatment, as I have been hearing so much how transformational it is.
This is such an VERY important TALK! Thank you so much for opening the door for all of us to start having a real conversations about what people are really experiencing. And how we can all support one another, and let go of the shame of what is so essential to our health and well-being! And YES, language really matters so let’s include everyone, this has such a huge impact on our relationships, health and quality of life. I look back now and can see how I needed to be able to know how to talk about what was happening to me, I could have gotten the help I needed so much sooner. Rather than when I am menopausal, no one should have to suffer needlessly. And if a person is suffering, it’s also having an effect on the person’s family, partners, coworkers, etc ! Education about hormones and your balance app has been so enlightening, it’s such a relief to understand what has been happening to my body and how it impacts my physical, mental and emotional health. Knowledge is power and helps disintegrate all of the stigma and eliminates the isolation when people realize they are not alone. Thank you for sharing your experience, knowledge and professional wisdom, so amazing 🤩 keep sharing ❣️💪🤗
For many women, marital relationships really suffer in menopause because of the different sexual expectations of the husband and wife. While the woman's body and brain undergoes massive changes once the eggs go away, the man's doesn't, because sperm production is ongoing, and so his desire is also ongoing. It's our biology. But adapting and understanding each other as changes are happening can be difficult. Knowing how to navigate them without upset or miscommunication is challenging. Until very recently, we women didn't even know what was happening to us! 😢 Thank you for teaching us so much good information 💛xx
